Ah yes Suicune...all around the scariest pokemon in the frontier with its many different rest/calm mind sets. I failed twice in the 50s before finally getting my 70 and 100+ win streak. It's really frustrating but makes it that much sweeter win you finally get it. You got this man keep going!

​@@nostalgicnighthawk I was really lucky with matchups on that streak, my squad struggles vs Gardevoir/Snorlax/Heracross and didn't run into them from 70-119. Then on 120 the AI had both Snorlax/Gardevoir and well I got smoked lol

You're probably already thinking about this but at this point your squad could use a real answer for water types. Steelix is one of the sickest mons ever, and sandstorm immunity w/ttar is great, but it's another mon weak to water with a poor SpDef stat. For example if you run ttar & salamence, something like a specially defensive Swampert w/Toxic, protect and leftovers would synergize well. Looking forward to seeing what you do either way. The beauty of the frontier is there's no rush and you can always add new team members. There's so much fun in teambuilding/training just in itself.

@@cv42860 yea the water types are TOUGH for the team and steelix doesnt help too much. But steelix is so COOOL. Agreed there is no rush so we see how the team progresses and handles and we move forward!

The Emerald Battle Frontier is in my opinion the best thing in any Pokemon game. It took me at least a dozen tries in the tower to get the Gold symbol there, but with Salamence / Metagross / Milotic, I was finally able to complete this facility. You learn with every attempt. Suicune in general is scary as hell.

I recently won the battle tower in heart gold with my shiny team! Azelf, Kingdra, and Slaking. Cresselia is so bulky I needed a Choice Banded Giga Impact and 3/4th health to kill. Its a great feeling getting that win.

I really like leech seed users in general, I think it would work well against setup/rest users. I have a subseeder sceptile, so for example with suicune, you setup subs, if it keeps breaking with ice beam, you get into overgrow range, and can KO with a leaf blade. If it tries to set up, you get off a free leech seed and probably win at that point too. Works on many opponents.

@@nostalgicnighthawk Leaf Blade, Substitute, Leech seed, and the fourth move is quite flexible. I use Dragon claw, but thunderpunch or toxic can also be good options. For item you could go petaya berry,brightpowder, or leftovers. I pair it with a thick fat snorlax and sturdy skarmory to cover it's fire/ice + flying/poison weakness. Also handles ohko spammers nicely!

I run a similar set! But I have a Scope Lens on Sceptile. It raises Critical Hit accuracy to 1/4 which is crazy accurate. Not fully reliable yet but efficient enough to breeze through a lot. And with a Modest Nature/Max Speed IVs it hits hard and outspeeds all but a handful of pokemon.

Oh yeah Suicune is an absolute beast in gen 3. Bold nature with 252 in HP and Def, leftovers, surf + calm mind + rest + substitute/sleep talk got me through the tower. Bulky water types in general are really good in gen 3.

Good try! You could’ve been able to clutch against the Suicune if you made note of its moves. Dusclops baited all of its moves so you saw it only had Surf for damage along with Double Team, Calm Mind, and Rest Sacking the Ttar to bring in Mence for free would’ve let you get 2 guaranteed Aerial Aces because Mence would survive 1 Surf Team suggestions: I think Dusclops could benefit from Protect instead of Confuse Ray, this way it can recover more damage and get more easy damage with Toxic stall, its Pressure ability will drain PP of moves that could be issues like Ice Beam or Rest Protect also gives move knowledge which is crucial for a situation like yours against Suicune

I did not play that match as best as i should have! You make valid points with using protect. Several other people have mentioned teaching clops protect and I did consider it myself. I do think confuse ray would be the move to delete. I think going into the next run I will switch in the protect! Confuse ray is good but its not THAT good ya know

Salamence is really hard to play in the battle frontier cause of it’s 4x weakness. Compared to Latios salamence is trash. Latios has powerful stab on both types which are special and can set up calm mind for a sweep through basically any ice type move, it’s a Uber after all, salamence always has to switch if the opponent has any ice moves and has no good stab on the physical set. The way I got all the golden symbols with salamence was with a dragon dance set, and a lot of knowledge accumulated on which Pokémon had sets with ice beam or ice punch. Once I knew basically all of them through trial and error I would set up super reliably on the leads that I could, and easily switched out to choice band Metagross or milotic on the opposing ice moves. To the point that in one day I I got to rounds 6-7 and on the other I got to round 9, then 10 and lost to the final boss, then 10 to the final boss and won Ps: you NEED a “set up” Pokémon to have any predictable results in the battle tower! You get many chances to set up throughout a match like double team span (if you got aerial ace); wobuffet; status moves (cause your seter uper uses lum berry); and any Pokémon that doesn’t 2 shot you. And there’s an endless amount of Pokémon that punish you for not having a buffed Pokémon that can out speed then and finish them quickly like the ones with curse/rest; calm mind/rest; fissure/sheer cold/horn drill; counter; swords dance + salac berry; lovely kiss and probably some more. So get a set up Pokémon if you don’t want to be at the mercy of rng to get that gold symbol!

Small set back for a major come back. Idk the extent of your Battle Frontier journey. But there's smogon forms and websites that shows all the Battle Tower NPC teams. And guides out there that'll give you some extra insight. You should also get into rng manipulation. There's plenty of guides and tools that'll show you how to get the strongest possible mons. Shoot you can rng mons with hidden power grass to get rid of those pesky Suicunes, Swamperts, and Milotics running amok.

I like the quote! Yes I am aware of those guides however I want to stay away from them for now. I want some sort of surprises on what pokemon are in the frontier! I could look into the RNG manips soon but for now I am not interested. It would be suppper helpful to have those hidden power moves. I learned the hard way about those like a month haha. Getting 70 wins is tough though so I figured I'd let you know about the strategy guides and rng. There's even ways to put any moves on any mon through arbitrary code execution. If you ever wanted to change movesets without tm's or breeding. Just didn't know exactly how you wanted to get the gold symbol. Also if you ever want to get a DS or GBA capture card just let me know. Cause I'll definitely help out. Really enjoying the journey man keep it up.

@@sogieazul im making it more difficult for myself to see if I can do it with my fav pokes! I want to test my abilities in a sense too! Tryna see if I am actually a good pokemon trainer haha. I do actually have a few DSs! I was debating getting a capture card for the GBA however I like the vibe of the videos just recording it old school. Its fitting in my opinion! I appreciate the support and help!

I won't lie. This team is EXTREMELY weak to Suicune and water types in general, so its gonna be rough making that climb to the top. It'll be interesting to see how you get around that weakness

yeah you could have sacked dusclops because suicune was faster anyways and then get 2 attacks with salamence but you didn't know the last pokemon anyways. battle tower will be the last one on my list...I completed battle pyramid a few days ago...doing battle hax factory right now...anyways, good luck
