Training the PERFECT Aggron for the Battle Frontier - Pokemon Emerald/Fire Red

Ойындар

In this episode I take you along my Pokemon Gen 3 adventures. I am working on training some pokemon to take on the Battle Frontier and the first pokemon I opted to train is Aggron. I IV breed and EV train it in this video as well as get it to level 100! There is a lot more work to do.

    Goodluck on your Larvitar!! Love this video. EV training in the later gens (Gen 6 especially) has been so streamlined with horde battles and EV items that it’s really refreshing to see this done in bare bones Gen 3! Excited to see your next teammate!

    thanks! Hope it shines for me soon. I EV trained a lot in ORAS and that was a loottt easier. It is more rewarding in these games but much more time consuming haha.

    Just started trying to EV train a decent IV Dratini I got from the Games Corner after resetting a bunch of times and calculating IVs until getting one I liked, I looked online about EV training and found one guide which advised using the VS Seeker around specific trainers, I did this for a while but my Dratini wasn’t strong enough to efficiently take out the trainers two Pokemon, it was taking like 4 mins per encounter, so instead I decided I would stop this method and instead I’ll just continue progressing through the story (currently just beat 4th gym in fire Red) and every time I start a new trainer battle, mostly team rocket grunts atm, I check what EVs they yield when defeated, and then I sub in my Dratini when the opponent Pokemon yields EVs which I want (attack as it’s my highest IV and visible stat, and special attack even though Dragonite is a physical attacker, special attack is my 2nd highest IV and visible stat, and my hope is that will boost STAB attacks as dragon type moves are special. This is my theory at least, based on the mounds of information I’ve tried to take in over the last few days haha. It’s so confusing though, there are so many layers to Pokemon stats, and special vs physical was confusing too, like I thought Dratini was a physical attacker, so I assumed physical moves are the best, but then I learn that even though Dratini is physical, it’s also dragon type which is special, NOT physical, which gave me the idea to exploit the high attack/high sp attack IVs of the Dratini I’ve got, and turn it into an absolute dps god for both physical and special type attacks, with the extra boost from STAB moves being special. Sorry for getting carried away writing all this, probably just over enthusiastic haha I’d love your opinion on my Dratini plan though if you happen to see my comment! Thanks dude, really loving your videos!

    It's not the end of the world with rock head. You can run double edge i think which is very strong but does have recoil. And rock head cancels that out. Our you can run substitute with focus punch 😂 which works great.

    Maybe instead of counting every encounter with a wild Pokémon it might make it easier for you to just count the amount of times you’ve visited a Pokémon Center. For this method to work you need a Pokémon that can knockout a encounter using only one PP every time and you have to use the same move every time. Let’s say you have a high level Pokémon (like your Rayquaza) with a move that has 20 PP. Instead of counting every encounter, you use that move with 20 PP and that move only until no PP are left. Then you go to a Pokémon Center and heal your Pokémon. To get to 252 you’d have to repeat this process 12.6 times. But at least counting to 12 is way easier than counting to 126 (if you get 2 points every time), especially because it’s easier to remember to count at all if you have to go to a Pokémon center every few minutes instead of counting 1 every few seconds when you defeat a Pokémon 😊

    Actually a brilliant strategy! I did try a similar idea once before however it isnt perfect. Like you implied, not using the macho brace but using the exp share would make this plan more consistent. When I tried it with the macho brace, I would send out the ev training pokemon but then switch out with a stronger pokemon to kill the wild pokemon in 1 hit, however sometimes pokemon would then paralyze me first or do something similar where it would mess the PP count. I am doing the other Aron now so I might try this out and see how it feels! Will letcha know. Thanks!

    best way to calculate ivs is a calculator like the one from psypoke or pokefinder in my opinion. As the level of a pokemon is low, the bigger is the uncertainty range of the ivs if calculated with at a single level. So that one attack value at level 5 probably corresponds to the iv range 27-31, which is why you didn't get perfect attack stat at the end

  • @nostalgicnighthawk

    @nostalgicnighthawk

    that is def the best way. After i finish training a pokemon I will probably run them through that calculator or something to see exactly what the IVs are just for curiosity. I want to try and keep my experience as close to the game as possible without outside programs, however if I already train the pokemon and check, that seems fine with me.

    @@nostalgicnighthawk I understand. I respect how much time you invest to get good IV Pokemon glitch free. I used a version of the pomeg berry glitch to get near to perfect IVs with nature combos, but never really used legitimate breeding, so much respect to you

    Easy way to check IVs in emerald : Clone 95 rare candies (easy with the exploit in the battle tower) then save your game. Use rare candies on the pokemon you want to know IVs, check the IVs then reset the game. Nice video man !

  • @nostalgicnighthawk

    @nostalgicnighthawk

    but then I gota use an exploit! Nothing wrong with that, i just prefer to do it "more legitimately". Would that work though? Wouldn't you still need to EV train it to see the total stats it could get?? I might be misunderstanding
