It’s natural to distrust me

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

she is unlike the other foals - but all too familiar
she will come around
until then I will treat her with the respect of a wild horse and earn her trust

Some people don’t understand how important positive vocal cues for horses as well as dogs and cats! You do a great job repeating positive reinforcement vocally so she can associate good behavior with sweet words and yummy food! ❤ You have a very joy filled voice, I can see why she’s coming around so fast, you must have amazing energy!

You are doing an amazing job at working with her and not forcing her to change more quickly. The time you take now shows up later in how much easier it is to train them to be great horses for the rest of their lives. That connection with people is what keeps horses in one home for more of their lifetime and less changing from home to home. Well done and hopefully she does pick up anything from all those ticks!

Her survival instincts make her wary but they will also help her understand in time that you bring food and comfort and safety. Herd instincts are so strong. As mad as she was with you, she still gravitated towards you. Find a small stool to sit with her perhaps? I also can’t crouch for long periods anymore, lol.

Her little unsure nods at you when she followed you back to the camera after feeding her❤️❤️ she was so curious but then definitely had that "should I play or defend myself against this unknown moving object(milk wagon)?" The fact that she approached you and didn't continue to bury herself in the corner shows she's already coming around a little bit. She also did look at you with both eyes a couple of times. She's trying to reconcile her fear and distrust of anything strange with her need to be with other animals. She'll get there pretty quickly.

I would name her Pearl. Pitiful Pearl. My mom use to call me that when I was a little girl & get upset. When I was little I suffer from Separation Anxiety. I had a lot of trama my first five years of my life. Including being viciously mauled by the neighbors gaurd dog, then breaking my left leg in two places, from getting my foot caught in bicycle spokes, while rolling down a hill.. Just to mention a couple tramas my first five years of life. Losing her mom & having to go ride in a truck to the vets, having strange people pulling ticks off of her. I can relate to her missing her mom. Just because she's a (pitiful) Pearl, doesn't mean she isn't strong. Pearl's are tough & beautiful. Her eyes are the color of blue water! ❤
