Tesla Bot needs to have a replaceable battery so as it loses life i can just buy a new battery.

@robertgtm and when that battery can no longer hold a charge, would you rather replace the battery or the entire robot. The battery will age faster than the rest of the robot. The battery needs to be replaceable, or people will not buy it. No way I'm paying $20k and can't swap the battery for a new one as it ages.

@@Patrick1985McMahon Degradation on battery should be like 3 percent over 10 years, so the battery should last you at least until you get another, more capable robot

@robertgtm it would be a dream if they degraded that slow, but what you said is not accurate. They will lose a minimum of 20% in 4-6 years.

@@Patrick1985McMahon Not sure why you think that. There was actually a research group that released paperwork last year demonstrating how the nickel based batteries in Optimus could last up to 100 years. Now I highly doubt that the Optimus battery will actually last 100 years, but if you estimate even 50 years, that puts degradation over a 10 year period pretty low. Not sure why this particular point is such a deal breaker either way but I believe your information to be inaccurate. The batteries in Optimus could theoretically be replaced by Tesla, you would not want to try to do that yourself, so I really don’t understand your stance, respectfully

Tethered only. No battery can provide enough power. Robots will work well for many useful things BUT will need to be connected permanently to a power source thru a power cord. Sad but true.

Not a good look comparing Optimus with ther old Atlas hydrolic bot. How's about comparing apples with apples. I really hope this range of new bots are as good as their developers claim. Won't be convinced however until they are trialed in real world situations to gauge their practicality.

This is total BS. Boston Dynamics Atlas hasn't even been released. WE as a community, only got a short video of an agile robot. Optimus sucks compared to this. Plastic and low quality parts, slow movements.
