As a family that uses home assistance, the price of $25-$35 would only require one year to pay for its self. Hope it goes on sale next year, I’ll take 2.

The day is coming when robots will be able to diagnose illnesses. No more waiting for doctors or mechanics or tradespeople. Shared knowledge through data base will make it, when one robot learns something, they will all know it.

This fantasy, that humanoid robots would replace human work is very old, there are black & white movies, like 80 years old about the "near future" where humanoid robots are working and doing human work. Yet as of right now, all humanoid robots are utterly useless, they are not worth 10 cents because they cannot replace any human work at all, not even do groceries for you. The issue is that humans are unimaginably complex, and to be able to develop robots that could replace human work is still under question.

@@nikokapanen82um okay, Boston dynamics was able to make a humanoid do a backflip it’s capable of doing something the majority of humans can’t do. That’s the current situation but eventually humanoids will exceed human capability. You negative outlookers really don’t get it, you’ll dance around the fact that this humanoid race is happening in front of your eyes.

@@CJayyTheCreative All I am saying is that as of right now, there is no humanoid robot existing that could replace any human work, not even do groceries or cleaning the house, let alone work in construction as a carpenter or a nurse etc. and it is still too early to say whether they will be able to develop such robots as we saw in I, Robot movie with Will Smith, like the NS-5's that could actually and literally replace human work. Here, in this video, we hear how they are planning to build 10-20 billion units of these robots, and I say it is too early to talk about building billions of them, first, try to actually develop an actually useful humanoid robot that can replace human work and then talk how many you will build them.

@@nikokapanen82 it’s because they are smarter than us and know the timeline for production. Like come on people always say this with technology and then it ends up improving over time. Hello. The limitations right now aren’t even the hardware, we know humanoids can lift and grab and do backflips, the limitations is just training it to do all this thing without having to code every single line.

Optimus as a domestic servant is very complicated and return on investment is minimal..... Therefore the prediction for domestic servant robot would be 2040.....

This is ridiculous, look at the fingers on Optimus! Could it even pick up a needle to thread it? In the future if I need a nail technician would I buy a clumsy Optimus or the SmartNailTech3000? It has tiny grippers to hold fingers and tiny filers/scrapers/painters. It trims, cleans, paints, applies, in a fraction of the time and takes up almost no space. Just plug it in no batteries needed. Oh, but it can't sweep the floors. Should Optimus push a broom and pick up trash or should I let my new SmartRoomba3000 do it? Oh' but that can't paint the walls, should we watch how fast a humanoid climbing a ladder can paint compared to SmartPainter3000 that you can rent? Elon is wrong about the viability of a humanoid robots. Making it more human-like doesn't make it more useful, in fact now it's limited to what a humanoid can do and will NEVER do everything a person could. And making them all the same is worse! Can it lift heavy objects? Should it stand in a factory packing widgets and never use its legs? The factory fork-lift of the future will be driven by AI and have cameras to see all around. It won't have a steering wheel and wait for a robot to climb in and drive. You won't be maintaining hand/foot controls on the truck, or wasting time, or wearing out the robot and wasting the energy. The best part is no part! "It's made human-like so it can work in environments made for humans" Think about that! That is the antithesis of "First Principles"! It compounds costs/complexity and reduces efficiency. I'm an automation engineer, I wish they would put AI on all the existing dumb robots. You could test and prove learning concepts/systems on existing equipment. There are all kinds of robots, controllers, vision systems etc. that could use a brain NOW. Besides the unproven AI, look at the fingers on Optimus! Could it even pick up a needle to thread it, Start a roll of tape, put a lid on a cup, make change out of a register? How long would it take to peel a label off the backing? tie a shoe, pick up a pen and write? A person, without looking, can pick up just one small screw out of a pile and orient it in their hand. A person can reach into their pocket and count change without looking. Please tell me the "easy" jobs a humanoid will be able to do! There are no "easy" jobs that aren't already automated. Enthusiasts will say "It's not like FSD because you don't have to be 100% accurate". Then it will fail in its job. If it drops a box of screws, breaks something expensive, falls and breaks itself, stops production etc. it's costs could be more than the savings. Enthusiasts will say "It doesn't need to be fast because it can work long hours". Then it will fail in its job. Factories are built for people to operate, so it will have to operate like a person. Asset utilization is important. Otherwise you'll have to create dumb jobs for it like overnight stock-boy. Call me when they demonstrate a stock-boy, if I'm not dead. Enthusiasts will say "we'll need them on mars" On mars you will want a smart crane/robot that can manipulate and join large habitat panels and move machinery. And you would want a smaller smart robot with tools instead of hands so it can manipulate/repair small cables/connectors quickly without having to pick up bulky hand tools. And it should have extending legs rather than get on a ladder. It would be ridiculous to have humanoids operate cranes, use wire cutters and climb ladders. You may only need two humanoids to set up a base because humans didn't evolve to use technology. The fud about the car was easy to ignore because the car was on the road. But the uncertainty and doubt about a humanoid bot that has no brain yet is very real. Optimus can't even do what the darpa challenge bots did 8 years ago. See a bot untie a knot watch YT "why we don't have robot butlers yet" see one load a dishwasher "Princeton Robotics - Russ Tedrake"

‘Optimus’ might be useful in the tailored environment of a factory… but is far away for being of any usefulness to a partially disabled person such as myself. The sloppy design of its pelvis & legs make of ‘Optimus’ itself a disabled entity in its potential role as a household assistant. I have difficulties on imagining the present ‘Optimus’ implementation performing simple tasks as climbing stairs & ladders, or recovering objects such as a fallen pencil which rolled under a heavy piece of furniture. Can Optimus change a burnt light-bulb out of my reach ?… Can it climb an inclined plane (for example, pushing/helping to steer a wheelchair?… Can Optimun occasionally move fast (for example, to prevent the fall of a toddler happily beelining towards a staircase?…).😢

I don’t think grandma would feel very comfortable with a 6 foot tall robot ‘watching over her.’ And that is why the robot revolution will fail. Just like driverless cars will fail. Nobody wants to entrust their life at 70 miles an hour to a computer chip sitting in the next seat, especially in the rain, at night.
