Hey so Idk if you guys picked up on this or if it was intentional, but [SPOILERS] When Bill has his solo confrontation with Georgie and his child self in the flooded basement, I think one of the things Georgie initially says is "I'm sorry, Bill, I lost your boat. Please don't me mad at me." And Bill assures him it's ok. And then later when Eddie has his breakdown at Niebolt house and says he was scared, he ALSO says "I'm sorry, Bill, please don't be mad at me." And I thought that was why Bill was so quick to drop his anger cuz that memory snapped him out of it. That could just be un-intentional phrasing on the part of the writers but I found it very interesting.

Same. I am rarely this invested in movies, but chapter 2 was just so good. I actually teared up seeing Richie's reaction. But am I the only one who was bugged that it seemed like Richie was the only one who seemed that sad that Eddie died? Like I know Richie was in love with Eddie, but the others seemed not to care much after he died. Other than that I absolutely love that scene.

@@nethermanstudios nah in this case I felt like they did a good job with showing the others sad too, but the focus was so strongly on Richie's pain I understand where you come from. The movie is ending afterall so they cant focus too long on all of them and its Richie's secret they're revealing. But yeah... painful. I think the quarry scene did it for with the other losers showing their grief too.

Even though I know the adult Ben character looks different and has lost weight I still thought “Oh wow they cast the kid actor from the miniseries as Ben!” then was confused about who the guy on the webcam was. I wish there had been cameos by Seth Green and the girl from Ginger Snaps also!

I think that the opening scene was kind of paralleling the end w/ Richie and Eddy. At the beginning, the guy who dies has an inhaler, which is Eddy’s artifact at the end

At first when i saw the inhaler, i was like "EDDIE" and i deadass thought he stayed in Derry all these years.

I noticed Bill didn't have his stutter through his whole establishing scene and then Mike called and he made this choking noise before the stutter came back. If you read the book closely. Its painfully obvious the losers all have the shine, and a lot of there success is thanks to that. I especially remember Stanley, Ben, and Bill using their psychic phenomena to gain incredible success.

here's an amazing quote from the final fight in the book: It: I am eternal. I am the Eater of Worlds. Bill: Yeah? That so? Well, you’ve had your last meal, sister.

On the topic of one's opinion being colored by their viewing experience: I just saw the movie. During the opening scene when the gay couple embraces in PDA there were audible groans from some men in the audience. That reaction kept me from having an immersive viewing of the movie. It made me feel othered. And as the scene continued I hope that those audience members had their noses "rubbed in it" so to speak. The depiction felt true to life. That it was hard to watch means the scene was effective. I found the violence, intense and realistic, but not gratuitous. It's a very real fear that gay people have. Ultimately, I'm glad to see that reflected in a piece of media.

I’ve never been physically attacked in public, but I have gotten LOTS dirty looks and many homophobic comments when I would go out with my girlfriend. That scene gave me a sense of what could happen and what does happen. It was really hard to watch, but I’m glad that it wasn’t played in poor taste.

it was hard to watch, but i feel like it was supposed to be. many people went into that movie not knowing there was a gay couple in it, and then they are forced to see the reality for some people. i really hope that it made some homophobic people rethink how upset lgbt makes them, and what dangers lgbt people actually face. i doubt homophobic people would see a perspective like this otherwise, so i think it served its purpose. it definitely shocked me in the theater just due to how real the horror was, similar to bev and her dad and husband, as well as the racism that mike faces. the real horror from it isnt necessarily pennywise.

Lesbian here, that scene was well done in that it really did upset me. It felt real. I can see how people appreciate how effective it is, but personally it nearly put me off watching the movie entirely. It upset me, made me sad and uncomfortable, nearly made me leave the room. And I have a very high tolerance for messed up things in movies. It does show a horrible truth, and my family was very quiet after that, but I personally didn’t like it. It didn’t make me hyped as opening kills like that usually do. I was pissed, saying over and over ‘but he’s not a kid, pennywise should’ve ate those shitty kids’. But I digress. I don’t have to like it to admit that it was good. Fictional or not, I felt awful for that poor couple.

Oh my gosh that's scary. While I was watching it in the cinema all the lights were flickering non-stop the whole time

I wanna make this comment cause Jeremy is from my area of Tennessee and when IT first came out, it was a bit of a big deal in my area. He's such a sweet kid and for IT and IT Chapter 2, he's done a meet and greet at the theatre i go to and he's watched an evening showing of the movie with fans and I just find that so kind. That he does something in his home area for the fans.

I was so up in my feels by the end of the movie the thing with Richie broke my heart and they did it so well.

Hey im only 23 mins in but Chelsea called Mike's character "Isaiah Washington" but he's from Grey's Anatomy. The isaiah in IT is Isaiah Mustafa❤️ just an FYI for any viewers that didn't know.

I will say, there’s an interesting parallel in the domestic abuse scene where the way she hits he husband with the picture frame perfectly mirrors the way she hit her Dad with the toilet cover in the first movie.

I think the reason that they kept the scene with Bev and he husband was juxtaposed to Eddie because they both basically married people who are or resemble their parents.

The Glass Maze scene at the carnival is definitely my favorite scene from the entire movie.

the R+E scene really brought tears to my eyes, and even when you were talking about it I started to tear up. It really shows Richie coming to terms with what is presumably his first love, even if in the movie Eddie's sexuality isn't as discussed. It's super emotional to watch tbh and it was so well directed and played out. I'm glad you guys discussed it and seemed to be as moved by it as I was!

Spoilers from book: With Stan i really liked in the book how his Suicide is spured on by fear however it's also because he's the first to realize that his life was a lie. Everything he has was given to him, and he realizes this. He was starting to find it odd he couldn't have kids (none of them can, they all mention it) but it hits him really hard. He's also the only one that saw it's semitrue form as a kid and the phone call shocks him into remembering. Ya, King is a huge Lovecraft fan lol

I went to a double session (IT 1 and 2) at the cinema, almost 5 hours non stop and it was so worth it! I loved both of them, and I am so happy they've made this awesome movies out of the awesome book Stephen King wrote (it's one of my favs and even though the movie it's an adaptation and not exactly like the book, for once I didn't care bc it was great). I laughed a lot, I cried, I got scared, I got angry and excited and repulsed and sometimes I even almost had to cover my eyes, and I think it's so wonderful that an horror movie could make me feel all those things, I really enjoyed it and well, I just wanted to say it 😂. Pd: sorry if my English was a bit all over the place, it's not my first language! Love you guys and your channel! 💕

The Stanley letter Is different for every loser, like Richie letter said "be proud, be you" Stanley and Richie are the best friends in the book so maybe Stanley knew about Richie's little secret

I think the whole memory issue, is less of The Losers memories being erased, and more of the memories being repressed, not just through trama but some other supernatural means tied to Darry and Pennywise. When Mike calls all the individual Losers their memories start to vaguely return, at first with the memory of the promise and the fear tied to that promise, and from their just becomes a slow drip. Basically their lack of memory is less of a locked room they aren't allowed to access, but more of a hidden one they forgot was even there.

I had similar thoughts. It's amazing what your senses can do to trigger memory as well. Talking to Mike triggered it but once they arrive there's certain sights and smells that would trigger repressed memories. I guess it's kinda ambiguous and can be interpreted by the viewer.

That Guy agreed. The first ones a lot better, but I consider it a masterpiece. Honestly though part 2 is a really good movie and I felt way more emotionally invested in the characters this time around. But I think I'd be more likely to pop the first one in if I wanted to watch a movie.

I believe it was Patrick Hockstetter who came to Henry and drove him around. I wish they would’ve had Belch instead since it’s his car

Maybe it's bc It killed Patrick but Henry killed Vic and Belch. It probably has some kind of control over Patrick. Just a theory.

I believe that too. I was thinking about it but since Henry directly killed Belch and Vic that that’s the reason why it’s Patrick. Plus Patrick is about as fucked up or even more fucked up than Henry

I pissed myself laughing when pennywise started singing, “I kNoW yOuR sEcReT!” Because it made me think all the times that people outed me for being gay, and imagining them singing that, lol

“You all have to like this cause we’re here” is so awesome lol. Bill Hader saying that to the crowd is cool.

I was blown away in the theater by the thing that you thought must be a reference, because there's a part you unfortunately forgot that makes it unmistakable. SPOILERS: When Stan's head turns into the headcrab from The Thing, Ritchie looks right at it and says "You gotta be fucking kidding". Like....it's not even SUBTLE, and I loved it.

I loved that I also love Richie's line when they see the saliva trail from the ceiling and richie looks up see's the stan crab head and just goes "Oh there he is" while making bricks in his pants lol

Scariest part of the movie imo

For those confused and curious: The Ritual of Chud is basically a psychic battle that Billy has with Pennywise on a mental plane that's so chaotic that it cracks the dark tower that houses the multiverse. (It's basically a battle of wills between two telepaths).

His best works were written under the influence of drugs/alcohol. If people could have control and it not be addictive drugs are good in some instances to help expand your mind. Most great artists wether it's authors, musicians, etc are better while under the influence. That is if the drugs don't kill them bc they over do it. Eminem was certainly better under the influence bc most of his work since sucks.

I guarantee you there are lasting effects that everyone sees to this day. People's art may be better under the influence, but if that's the price for good art, is it really worth it?

Chris Patry I KNEW IT OMFG

Bill Hader has always been my favorite SNL alum and seeing him give such a great performance in this really made me fall in love with this movie

The it chapter 1 review 2 years ago was the first time I saw Chelsea. P.S When Stephen King was writing IT he was still a heavy drug and alcohol user

James, if you didn’t notice, the guy speaking at the meeting when Mike calls Ben was actually played by Brandon crane. He was the original kid Ben in the mini-series.

This is one of my go to podcasts when I wanna have something fun playing in the background. Amazing job. I love how this movie is like, "bullying works!"

Actually it was Zombie Patrick Hocksetter that helped out Henry instead of Zombie Vic. He resembles Patrick and Henry referees to him as “Hockstetter”

Saw it today and I gotta say: the opening is what really got me.

2019: *Send in the clowns.

Just watched it on cinema in my small town in Sweden. I'm glad to hear that James was as touched by the movie in a way that I felt as well. The only reason I didn't cry was that I was soooooo tired as it was shown late at night and I had work the day after

James' Bill Hader impression is seriously spot on!

Ahhhhhh I’m so excited to see this in theaters and from what I’ve seen you guys are making me even more pumped

I’m sad the bully’s in the beginning of the movie didn’t show up for the rest of the movie and didn’t get murdered by pennywise

James the guy running the board room meeting is a now adult ben from the the miniseries. He played ben as a kid in the miniseries.

The "Very Scary" door had the other half of Betty Ripsom!

Props to Chelsea for pushing this out so quick to give us some content while the Re-Animator kill count was in limbo!

Awesome job with the podcast, as usual. Don't sweat that you missed a few of the details. Without the use of notes, your memories of the movie were still top notch. I didn't feel the same way as the both of you did as a tear jerker (maybe because My mind was reeling from the changes at the end a bit) but enjoyed the flick overall. The characters were true to the story they were telling and each one really had a purpose in the story that was sorely lacking in the mini series. I think the main thing that hurt the box office was the running time, just couldn't get as many showings in as the first one. Thanks for doing such a great job and I hope you get a chance to hang with the bullies!

I thought the giant old lady was one of the scariest parts tbh.

Honestly, Bill Hardar was fantastic in this. And his reaction to Eddie's death got to me so hard.

I saw the movie last night(Eastern time US) and I was pretty happy with how it was. I definitely agree that the flashbacks to stuff in the first chapter were a bit OTT as well(I understand the things that happened off screen that they wanted to show, but with the blood oath scene I think repeating it was too much padding) but I oddly didn’t think it suffered too much from pacing issues, minus the first 30 min being a bit fast. Also the theater I was in was totally laughing at how weird the old woman’s transformation was in Bev’s token scene, I heard more laughing in my usually quiet theater than in actual comedy movies I’ve seen there. The cast was so freakin good in this movie, even with the 27 year gap I felt like I grew up with the kids and shared the same feelings with the adult characters(especially Ritchie after the fight, holy crap that was so sad). I’m not a huge horror guy(I’m better than I used to be thanks to y’all lovely people at Dead Meat) but this set of films are in my favorite movies ever.

I am convinced they are the kindest , sweetest people on earth . Love them BOTH .
