Man, this was a hell of a video. The amount of research you did was unreal. This video was so worth waiting for. I remember when you first mentioned you were planning on making it. I think it was a year ago or something like that. It was a while, and I'm glad you didn't rush it. You did a phenomenal job! It's really inspiring to me as someone who works on my own stuff. It gives me hope to keep plugging away at my own work. So thanks for that Kylie ! And your make up looks perfect. I forget to mention that in my last comment on your Instagram and it was really bugging me haha.

Stephen King has been my absolute favorite author since I was 13. Unequivocally, yet I am not a horror fan at ALL. For context, I still cannot bring myself to watch the "Evil Dead" 2013 reboot. But King has a unique ability to write characters that are actually alive on the page. "IT" was an instant classic to me. He's incredible, and that's why I'm watching a deep dive on "IT." Salut.

IT has been a favorite of mine for many years and I love hearing different people speak about the book and films. Your commentary is so deep thinking, yet entertaining, that it is one of the best I have heard.

What an awesome deep dive this was! I knew this was going to be great but I didn't know it was going to be this great and this long. And the build up for this with the stream you did with Matt and the photos you posted on Instagram of the amazingly done IT make up you did. And it really does look amazing. I again learn something new every time from your deep dives. And the amount of research and editing you put into these can't go unmentioned cause I know these take so much work. This was definitely one of if not your best deep dive you've done. So thanks so much for this Kylie! Also unrelated but I really appreciate the repost of the watch along stream yesterday. I left a few ideas on patreon for future watch along streams. But again thanks for another incredible deep dive Kylie! Oh and happy early birthday

Congrats on the video and all this research! 👏 The book It means so much to me. I read it when I was 19, and it was my first Stephen King book and it's still my favorite so far. When one of my brother's friends saw that I was reading it, he told me that he had read it when he was twelve and I told him how amazing I thought the writing was, and from there started a beautiful spooky friendship! We went to see It and It: Chapter Two together when they came out, and to this day, almost 10 years later, we still go to the theater so often to watch horror movies and just talk about horror movies and horror books all the time, I love it! 👻

I'm new to your channel and this is pretty amazing work. It has been one of my favorite books since the first time I read it in '89, my second favorite King work only behind The Shining. The attention to detail, the anecdotes you add, and just the overall depth you get on this has me floored. I honestly don't usually watch videos on YT that are over an hour long, but this had me engrossed. Keep up the great work!

Amazing video, I love how much thought you put into your content! Pennywise is my favorite monster of all time & I am obsessed with the adaptations & book. Thank you for such a thorough deep dive. I even shedded a tear when you talked about Bill Hader being Richie. I grew up watching Bill Hader & I had always loved his work. I didn’t even know that Finn wanted him to be Richie. I remember literally wishing & hoping he’d be casted as adult Richie the second I heard of the announcement of the first IT & was hella excited when I saw the casting news not too long after IT Chapter One’s release lol. Again, awesome video 🫶

Thank you for putting all the time and work you did into this video! I've been super hype for this one because IT holds such a weird place in my heart lol. When I was a little kid my parents had a vhs copy of the miniseries and I'd watch it obsessively, it's what gave me my love of horror and King. Fast forward to a few years ago when I was in college, I finally read the book, and it inspired me to pursue a career in writing. It's funny because while I don't think any of the adaptations are 100% perfect and the book itself, imo, contains both the best and worst aspects of King's writing, there's something about this story that really has an impact on people. In my case I think it made a huge impression on me because I had horrible anxiety as a kid, so watching a story about kids facing their fears deeply resonated with me, even if I didn't realize it at the time.

I just paused an hour into this as I just had to write you a comment about how fantastic this video has been so far, easily not only one of the best IT talks and dissections, but of any horror film have see on here. To cover book (the juggernaut of writing) and all 4 t.v./movie adaptations must of taken so much time, effort and complete understanding of them all (which you have mastered btw). Yeah, so, just wanted to say well done on this. Now back to finishing it (not pun intended). P.S. the makeup.....10/10

Another excellent deep dive, this time into the sewers of Derry itself. Gotta say, I love the Pennywise makeup, it’s phenomenal! Also, I relate a lot to Stephen King’s writing style, he’s my biggest inspiration apart from you. I think he makes the right call by focusing on the characters first and foremost, because all of the characters in It are fantastic. The Loser’s Club, Henry, Maturin the Turtle, and of course Pennywise Itself. Even a minor character like Patrick Hockstetter gets a lot of backstory, and it’s truly disturbing. It’s honestly incredible how much thought he puts into every single character. Random, but I was also born in 1999, and it blows my mind that Jack Dylan Grazer is only 4 years younger than me and looks like such a wee lad, haha.

Gorgeous as always and well thoughtout and informative. Love the 90's miniseries the most because it didn't rely on jump scares or CGI. I know it wasn't the intention, but I think you'd make a rad Crow character from IMAGE comics one of my favorite comic book movies with the whole gothic horror aesthetic. Speaking of The Crow, would you be willing to do a deep dive of that franchise like the films, tv show (Stairway to Heaven), the comics and light novels? R.I.P. - Brandon Lee..

This was a fantastic video. The amount of research, editing, and time you put into these is crazy. Seeing the photos on your Insta of the IT makeup and the lead up to this was so great. As someone who never read the books and has only seen parts of the original IT movie, it was nice to know all this new information you went over. I definitely think with what I've seen of Bill Skarsgård's performance as Pennywise, I would also say he's definitely my favorite as well. Just the way he is able to make all those creepy facial expressions is insane. I honestly wouldn't mind if he were casted as the new Joker in the DCU, even though some may not like it cause "oh he's just playing another clown." But I think he'd kill it, especially if they don't go crazy with the design of Joker (I was not a fan of Jared Leto's look and take on Joker tbh). Real quick speaking of Joker though, Tim Curry was actually supposed to voice Joker in Batman the Animated Series and even recorded lines for about four episodes. But they didn't really like his performance and instead went with Mark Hamill. You can actually find a few videos on youtube of some of the recordings he did as Joker and it honestly sounds pretty different to what Mark did. But I think they made the right call in choosing Mark instead since he's definitely the definitive voice for Joker to many fans like myself. But to your video, as with all your other deep dive videos, I appreciate the amount of care you put into these each time. It truly is inspiring for someone like me whose worked on stuff by myself to keep going. So thanks for this outstanding video Kylie!

We used to get in trouble in high school, back in the early 1990's, for bringing (and reading and sharing) Stephen King novels to class - especially "It" Man how times have changed ...

I wished you had discussed Eddie standing up to his mom after Bowers broke his arm and put him In the hospital. That scene in the book, for me, defined Eddie.

I never know how to think about King. For every "holy shit what did he write about a bunch of kids!?" moment, there's a "lol Stephen King pissed off the Queen TERF" moment. We all contain multitudes, I suppose. Also it's fucking criminal how small your channel is, and I hope you keep it up till you break through.

What a feat this was, holy crap! I still need to watch IT pt 2 from the Skarsgard era, but that will happen before Summer is out. As a kid, I feel like I was the only person not scared of Pennywise because it was Tim Curry and I loved him. I grew up watching him. Skarsgard, however, he was unnerving. He was a great Pennywise and the fact that so many of his scary tendencies are his own mannerisms is just insane. His portrayal of Pennywise is why I didn't trust him in Barbarian, haha. That being said, f*ck that spider because that spider in the 1990 version scared the crap out of me. You did a great job with this, Kylie! Thank you for diving in deep. Maybe one day I will tackle that 1200 page book (that animal death thing is why I haven't), but until then, we have this!

My parents are both from Maine and although I grew up in Pennsylvania I went to college in Maine and lived about 90 minutes from Bangor for six or seven years total (it was the closest “big” town to me). “It” has always been my favorite Stephen King book and I always loved driving around the city and seeing all of the locations from the book in their real-life incarnations, and I never ended a trip to Bangor without driving down West Broadway past King’s house. Never saw him there but did see his wife sitting out on the porch a time or two. I also remember the kid that Adrian Mellon was based on being memorialized every year on the anniversary of his being thrown over the bridge.

Well done deep dive! I love when you do these vids, I always see or learn things about films I love that I’ve never know. Also love your Stephen King journey… grew up on him cause of my dads love for his books. But as you’ve mentioned before… criticism is almost unavoidable. So I only have ONE criticism (probably only a bias opinion because of my love for him 😂) but…. James McAvoy is Scottish, not Irish. So his Scottish accent may be an obstacle with the stuttering. 😂😂😂

alright, I’m back with a classic long ass comment! absolute banger of a video, your shit just keeps getting better and better!! and so quick too! color me consistently impressed. nailed the make up. was legit uneasy till the drool in crotch line cracked me up lol the commitment 🤌🤌🤌 on point happy powder lmaoo yup yup I’ve definitely heard that fueled many of his classics he was really definitely embracing the mania that it brings for a while in his writing haha the three billygoats gruff?! wow dang!!! love an unexpected influence, totally makes sense!! dang I didn’t even think about the IP problems with the classic universal monsters- rad that he could do that in the books, I guess that would be pretty expensive to adapt haha lmao roasting the reviewer then realizing he’s dead 💀 wooooah george romero almost directed the miniseries?! that would’ve been so rad. honestly so ahead of it’s time. vomiting isn’t my idea of fun either but good for the adults having more fun than the kids haha “a whacking good story” lol love the tim curry appreciation didn’t even realize how minimal the prosthetics are for his pennywise makeup- super effective!! and amazing performance of course. didn’t realize the miniseries had such a remarkable viewer turnout!! that’s dope. lol the effort to nail the pronunciation of muschetti is admirable. will poulter- hmmm I wonder if he could’ve pulled it off??? but I feel you it’s like the kid from we’re the millers. but what if he nailed it?!! bill did nail it though. the pete davidson connection lmaooo ‘96er here… being born after 2000 just feels like a whole different vibe lol they nailed that chemistry with the kids, great execution. damn so true, the anachronistic/older loom for the costume was an excellent decision. hoooooly moly!!! bill without makeup is still tremendous and terrifying!!! that lip thing is amazing!! and the eyes damn!! scary Jim Carrey hahaha yes I’m sure you’re takin notes for your next creature role, Kylie lol 8 skaarsgards??? lol I guess that makes sense. papa stellan is a stud apparently lmao lollll child actors have that 5 from umbrella academy vibe, full grown adult personalities when it comes to work stuff hahah great casting in chapter one and two. bill hader is a standout, finn was on point for that! aw I love that all the actors wanted to be in it!!! isaiah mustafa is rad. amazing casting matching kid/adults. looooove king’s cameo, he was perfect and hilarious!!! huh. interesting that the ratings dropped. maybe they’ll go up after people watch this! 😇 I think I already graduated film school by the time I saw chapter 2. I was convinced a super edit of the 2 chapters together would be the best thing for pacing so it would be more like the book lol ooh this 5th chapter is such a viiiiibe!!! that vintage well-loved copy of it looks so dope!! must be full o memories :’) oof as a Floridian growing up with no basements, they’ve always freaked me out. except when I was in college bc we had basement shows and that was a vibe!!! yikes yikes I think a lot of “guys being boys” is internalized homophobia, I think it’s so whack that the idea of being gay is nothing but a joke to some people. like, a. not funny and b. take a look in the mirror lol. it’s okay to be gay. serious repression vibes. fuck the patriarchy! as far as native representation defo check out reservation dogs on Hulu!! first show with an all native cast, taika waititi is one of the EPs. amazing show!!! oh no not the lost in the sewers orgy lol yiiiiiiikes oh man would’ve loved some alice in wonderland shit in the house!!! hard to execute but I feel like inception is a good reference for playing with perspective like that. the turtle!!! that lore actually is inspired by a number of North American Native tribe’s creation myths. so it kinda justifies the connection but is probably appropriation. dang the book ending is totally lovecrafty, that shit is like impossible to adapt. great to read though haha. the turtle is a vibe lmaooo he sounds chill I love cosmic horror, it would be interesting to see someone pull off the trippier aspects that are cut from the adaptations. the kids v adults coping with fear is super interesting!!! and power dynamics. what a great deep dive!! oh wow there was gonna be a supercut!!! I was longing for that lmaoo, we might have to cut it ourselves omg your beaver trapping joke w that Finn clip fuck off lmaooo would love if the series jumps back and forth between two time periods, I really love that aspect of IT. positively amazing work on this one. this really got me inspired!!! love the celebration of creativity, really amazing job with the research, makeup, pacing, fucking nailed it again Kylie!!! and obviously honored to contribute some tunes 😇 long live the cult of haunted hippie!!!

For anyone who's interested the turtle is explained more in King's The Dark Tower series. The Dark Tower is almost like Lord of the Rings if the main character was Clint f'n Eastwood from the 60's. Greatest series ever.
