I love that Wes Craven pretty much gave a low-key warning about who will not be named in this movie by putting in the subplot about John Milton, he was warning the world about that scumbag and Hollywood in general 17 years before the hashtag Me Too movement like holy shit

There was one line in the first scream that I NEVER noticed until I saw it in theaters a littler over a year ago. And it was at the end when gale wakes up and points the gun at Billy and Stu. Billy says “I you said she was dead!” And Stu was like “Well she looks dead.” That little exchange killed me. Idk how I never noticed that line before.

I would love to see the alternate run with Angelina being Roman’s accomplice. It fits better with the editing as well because Roman being in every single place when Ghostface appears was well cut, but it would have been a cool reveal that he wasn’t the only one. Plus the ambiguous editing with Angelina’s death makes me want her to come back for a future film 😂

I have it in my own personal head cannon that Angelina is the second killer and Roman just kills her off when he doesn't need her anymore. Just like Nancy Loomis killing Mickey and Jill killing Charlie. Once the "mastermind" Ghostface doesn't need the "muscle" Ghostface anymore, they kill them. And Roman is the type of guy that would love to take full credit for everything.

Just want to let you know that I love this series you're doing and all the work you've put in. Yours and dead meats channel are the only ones I have trusted to watch content for so the new one doesn't get spoiled. Especially since the script leak I've been avoiding spoilers like hell. I especially hate how some content creators are already releasing spoiler reviews when the general audience won't even be able to see it till Friday. It's kinda lame lol so thanks for being an og! Love the cult!!!

Just two things: Wes wasn't ashamed of the horror genre, the man legitimately just loved telling stories. Let's not forget one of (if not) his first movie was a porno that he went to great lengths to add an actual story/plot to as a way to hone his craft. He probably did feel like it was time to challenge himself by taking on different projects outside of the genre through, and, considering his talent he wasn't wrong. Also, as silly as it sounds being known as the AT&T spokesperson in 1999 isn't a insult. It's something you actually has to be alive to understand but those commercials where ALL over the place, being seen by millions on a daily basis. The company where actually putting popular entertainers in those commercials and an argument could be made if you where the AT&T spokesperson, you where a legitimate star at the moment. The television landscape was very different than it would be just ten years later, never mind over 20 years later .... And I feel old for knowing that 😅

I gotta say how much I love and appreciate these videos. It's impressive how much work and time you put into them. Your passion shows through big time. As someone who has been a rabid fan of this franchise since first watching the VHS of Scream at 12 in 1997 it warms my heart that these films are still getting love and resonating with people. Especially Scream 3. That movie deserves more love. It's so fun, with so many memorable characters and one liners. And Sidneys nightmare scene always genuinely creeped me out. The spooky voice and the bloody fingers scraping the glass still leaves me unsettled. As far as Stu goes, I remember going to see Scream 2 in theaters and hoping Stu would return. I hoped he'd return in every sequel after 2. I gave up with Scream 4 though. I'd welcome him back with open arms but at this point I don't see it happening. Fun fact that is probably in the book but the mansion used in the 3rd act of Scream 3 is also used as the school in H20. I'd be curious on your thoughts of the soundtracks. They always feel like another character to me and a time capsule of the movies themselves(especially 1-3). And Scream 2 and 3 have songs from a little band known as Ear2000 which David Arquette was a member of for a short bit. Keep up the great work, I look forward to the Scream 4 video.

Ok, I just looked at It All Began With a Scream on Amazon. The promo page alone was so well done. I can't do it now, but I'll have to get it when I can later on. You're the best promo that book has ever gotten haha This series has made me appreciate Scream on a much deeper level than I was expecting. Great job! And I never know when to tell you this so I'll do it now. There's a movie called Black Limousine starring David Arquette and Lin Shay. Arquette plays a washed up musician trying to get back into the movie business by driving limos for actors. Feels like a weird look into into Arquette's mind as to why he took the role. The character is divorced and can't see his kid etc. I might be reading too much into it but from what I know about his real life it does feel kinda uncomfortable. The movie has problems but it's neat over all. On Letterboxd it's called Black Limousine 2010 ‘The Land of the Astronauts’ Directed by Carl Colpaert . The Land of Astronauts title kinda makes sense if you've seen the movie. It's kinda odd haha

I’m like 99% sure the extra from Scream who says “it’s too red” was one of the students getting reprimanded in Principal Himbry’s office. Which is why I think him and his group of buddies were extra gung-ho about rushing to see his dead body.

My favorite Sarah Darling line in that scene is “I’m not happy my character is too stupid to have a gun in the house after her boyfriend’s been cut into Fish Sticks.” Like the way Jenny McCarthy said that, especially her inflection on Fish Sticks just makes me smile a lot. If only she isn’t/wasn’t Anti-Vax. Parker Posey is definitely fun too, though it’s really irritating that every dead actress in the series wants a second role after Kirby came back, which was easy since Williamson and Craven I think had different opinions of her fate (Williamson with her dead and Craven with her alive). So bringing her back made sense. I also think this movie gets too much hate when I feel 5 is overrated. Spoilers for Scream 5: Amber was obviously a killer, because they barely gave her a character (Olivia, Wes, Trevor, Liv (she’s the girl in the 5th film, having the same name as a just as forgettable character in 4), and Robbie are bland too) until the 3rd act. She did ok, but it felt like she didn’t make much of an impact.

I actually think Scream 3 will be “reexamined as a misunderstood masterpiece” (by some). It’ll at least earn a fervent cult of fans. I recently watched Screams 1-5 with friends, because they’d never seen the sequels and their consensus FAVOURITE behind the original was 3. Which surprised and delighted me in equal measure

I'm probably just weird (shocking I know) but i actually love the ton of this movie. I love how this movie juggles comedy and suspense while not undermining one another (at least for me)... my problem with it, and why its not on the level of the first two movies personally, is that the mystery of the killer takes a back sit and as someone who's a thriller guy that was always my main enjoyment out of the franchise. This also circles back to Stu and Tatum to a lesser degree: I hate the trope of someone we saw die isn't really dead but is actually the mastermind of everything that happens. For me it takes me out of any movie because its lying to the audience in order to get one up on them rather then adding to the story. idk maybe thats just a pet peeve but it takes a lot from the movie for me.

Red Right Hand is a criminally underrated song. Also, I know that other Scream fans have pointed this out, but I think it's quite clever and chilling given John Milton is so similar to Harvey Wankstain. My sister and I love Scream 3. Given the messy production I'm surprised how fun it is. It's very campy and over the top so I get why it's disliked. I love the commentary on the industry, ghostface having a voice changer, Parker Posey performance. I think Roman being behind the whole trilogy works. The first two make it clear that horror movies don't cause violence. With Roman helping Billy and Stu, Scream 3 is saying real crimes that go unpunished as they are accepted inspire more crimes.

Scream 3 is my favorite of the franchise. I know, I know it's an unpopular opinion but ever since I first watched 3 in 2001 on HBO it's been my favorite. It was also the first of the franchise that I watched. My POV is likely different from other Scream fans because of the order or rather dis-order I watched the movies in. I think Roman fakes his own death for the audience. He wasn't on my radar but if he was, him "dying" would've thrown me off.

So I honestly think scream 6 will introduce a cult of ghostface. At the end I think the killers will say something along the lines of following orders and one ghostface will get away. That person will be back and reveal his cult leader which will be Stu. We’ll get Sid back vs Stu while Tara and Sam face the other killer

I came here to make the same comment. Red Eye is hella underrated. It’s simple, old fashioned suspense movie without crazy twists or supernatural elements, so people missed out on it. Although this explosion was due to missiles being shot to cause it. I guess that’s still an explosion. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just my 2 cents on the Me Too movement, from a man's perspective of course: It actually felt like it made things worse in a way. Everyone already could see women as the victim in cases of sexual assault, but when a man was the victim, they were disregarded. Most of the time if a man is the victim of sexual assault, they get told things like, "You're lucky to have gotten laid.", and "Oh come on, you enjoyed it.", while people talking about it will congratulate them on it, as if they consented to the act. The Me Too movemtn widened that divide; as even though it seemed like it was supposed to be about outing sexual predation in general, it became fundamentally about how women are being preyed upon; to the point that men speaking up about their experiences as victims, would be told to shut up, that they were "distracting people from the real issue". Sure, people got their scapegoat in Harvey, but did anything actually change from there? Seems more like with the sacrifice made, people stopped caring as much, and the damage was done to bringing victim support together across the gender gap. What could have been a unified gorup going after the real issues, had become increasingly hostile towards each other, causing actual detraction from the real issues at hand. This doesn't even boil down to Hollywood, but just everyday life even. I don't know, its just my opinion based on my experiences during that time

Hey, its me... I'm the one still hoping for Cult of Stu, haha. COME ON, it would be so much fun! Even though I have grown to greatly appreciate and have fun with Scream 3, you can feel the differences in this movie. You can feel the disconnect of the cast with the exception of the returning people. For the first few watches, I really disliked all of the casts with the exception of the legacy characters and Dempsey. I enjoyed the opening and wasn't sorry to see Cotton go. He's never been my favorite character. Innocent or not, he's always felt skeevy. I mean... lets be real here. He did the whole thing where it looked like he was holding Sydney hostage for a Diane Sawyer interview and then here...he was all flirty with the caller until he realized the caller was the killer. He's a terrible person lol. I do prefer the deleted scene of his death. I knew the actress who played his girlfriend from Melrose Place so she was very busy lol. When this movie came out, I was disappointed. The tone of it is so different than the other 2 and even in the grand scheme of things, it still doesn't, but I have grown to love it as the soft bridge between the heavier movies. It ranks middle for me. I will put this one on just to have background noise more than the others. Current ranking: 1, 5. 3. 2, 4 Killer reveals: 1, 2, 3, 5, 4

Not gonna lie this film is a lowkey snoozefest.. I loved it when it was released and it seemed really fresh at the time.. I remember not understanding the hate it received over the years, but I remember giving it a rewatch 5-10 years ago and it was such a chore to get through.. no doubt there's still some really good moments and ideas sprinkled throughout the film that I still really like though.. finding a way to bring Jamie Kennedy back was great.. And yeah Parker Posey is great.. she plays my favorite "bitch" character ever in Dazed and Confused.. and I understand younger generations might not know Jay and Silent Bob, but I'd recommend just about any Kevin Smith film.. he built a world where most of his films take place in the same universe.. obviously start with the indie classic Clerks..

Gale 😡 ´s 😡 HAIR 😡 ! 😡 Just kidding I don’t care about her hair at all hahaha just thought since you mentioned it so many times I had to say it! Personally the thing I HATE about this movie is the weird ghost visions that Sidney has throughout the film. And also the fact that most of the movie takes place on empty fake movie sets? Like…great commentary, boring to look at. I feel like one of the main perks of horror movies is how the horror influences the real world. Kind of like what Michael Myers’ evil did to the town in Halloween Kills. Here we have a film that just feels too much like a « movie » like our great lord Harry Styles would say hahahaha

I like Scream 3 it's too bad it had to suffer from a lot of reshoots due to script changes and Columbine happening (so they changed it originally Stu was supposed to be the killer) so yeah lots of crap but I liked it for what it was. As a laserdisc collector, I still need to pick this one up but it's very expensive and a late pressing haha.

when red right hand drops the lil booties start shakin lmaoo scream 3 definitely doesn’t get the love it’s due. ty for championing it!! ok class is in session dang music of the heart is an interesting situation. I feel like Scream has a level of cynicism that comes from that wanting to do something more ‘serious’. just makes scream better though! Kevin was doin woooork!! toxic relationships between studios and filmmakers are sadly so common. but being aware is essential. I do love Stu and Matthew Lillard, but not sure I’d love to see him return. at least not as puppetmaster haha I could be down for Tatum’s twin!! oh but Rose McGowan has been up to some interesting shenanigans! calling out Hollywood is dope but yeah very weird practical joke?? would’ve been cool in an earlier installment, methinks. yikes yes too much gun violence here in the US. it’s disturbing. I feel like saving the next generation for scream 4 ended up working nicely. bad producers can really destroy the vibe of an otherwise solid set. pay neve what she deserves!!! she’s like the face of the franchise- other than ghostface of course. lmaooo eyyy Florida honeymoon. love carrie fisher’s cameo!! contortionist?? undead randy?? lol parker posey 🔥🔥🔥 wow that’s so funny so many people wanted to be in scream so bad for and she just wanted a job. worked out in the end. what a bummer that the on-set vibe was, well, a bummer! that script over-secrecy is so detrimental to an actor’s working experience. cough marvel cough. I love williamson’s writing but scream 3 still feels like scream to me even though he didn’t write it. Cotton kinda sucks but I do appreciate the shake up for the opening with a guy in the intro and a legacy character instead of a new character. I love a good LA movie but compared to the charm of woodsboro and the small town college vibe- feels a bit soulless. though I love the mansion and on-set chase- but that’s later! Ben Damon lol yikes that’d be over the line for me. I love a goof but… ehhh lmaooo she was crushin on Liev haaard yeah the deepfake voice thing was a cool way of raising the stakes! love a little fake technology. I wonder if they’d bring something like that back. it was nice to let cotton have his moment and mix it up for the intro but the one location suspense build is just too good. love that Sidney is playin it safe with the caller id in her inexplicably large house but now I’m salty that they didnt pay Neve enough haha ok. the bangs. bettie page is cool, I can get down with that. but I think they’re cool! accidental punk rock vibes. nowadays having super short bangs is like a cool thing to do, but you have to be very cool and very hot. her bangs are dumb -> old, not funny her bangs are *cool* -> innovative, open-minded I love that Courtney Cox that she’s got a sense of humor about it!! that’s sick. Gale been manifesting since before it was cool!! Love that self-validation. Detective Gale Weathers type beat hahaha “He was making a movie called stab. He was stabbed.” Lol that delivery with the gum chewing and the Bronx-y accent haha Parker is great as Jennifer, love her chemistry and contrast with Gale! really shows her growth over the series. haha the on-set gags are like peak meta, I love it. I was stoked to see jay and silent bob! i think people under 30 might know tusk more than jay and silent bob as far as kevin smith goes. he’s an indie legend, carrie fisher is a straight-up legend. killin the transitions flex it up lol I was into the nightmare Maureen!! It was giving me David Lynch vibes a lil bit. Also liked the dream stuff in s2 of the tv show. I like dream sequences!! crazy how actors went from signing up blindly for Scream 2 to reluctantly signing on for the 3rd. what a nosedive lol. costume/prop room was a great set. so spooky and so many places to hide. hahaha scream has some great punches!! love the mystery vibes. I think in scream 5 they call stab a meta-slasher whodunit. nothing like a nice balance! kronk hahaha my boy. never enough kronk. lmaooo the commitment to that “dewdrop”, nailed the impression love Dewey’s growth, he like stands up for himself and it’s funny but genuine. he’s no longer our ice cream lickin little deputy boy from 1996! holy crap Patrick Dempsey got some chops!! shoutouts to Det. Wallace, he’s got bars!! the fax!!! hahha the tension was real yeah they really hollywooded it up for this one with that explosion!! decent digital fx for the time! I thought it was real. maybe a combo. 🥊🥊🥊 “my lawyer liked that” hahaha the delivery lol congrats on the character development! Team Dewey!! between “watch the fuckin aliens” and “it’s too reeed” you are really plucking the finest underrated quotes haha here for it randy’s return!! love the new rules. yes yes yes I looooove the set chase scene!!! so meta, I totally love the use of sets. lol some goofy sound fx for sure. now I can’t unsee the sad-sid face. thanks for that lol yes yes yes being in the film industry doesn’t mean tolerating abuse!! the workers have the power!! hahahahah I love the drama of that “what’s your favorite scary movie” “my life” but so true doesn’t really make sense if you think about it unless because their scary life also has good things too that’s why it’s their favorite? nah I’ve gone too far with it lol. kevin wouldn’t let that one slip haha. love the mansion set!!! Gale and Jennifer clicking as a team is my jam. a buddy comedy spin-off :000 in another reality… great screams!! sampleable haha yeah it’s a bummer that jennifer died but I feel like you nailed it with the symbolism story-wise as far as her mirroring gale. also mirror’s dewey’s near death in scream 2. would’ve been nice if she got the Dewey surprise still alive treatment, but I guess they weren’t planning for sequels after this? dewey is like rasputin haha. unkillable. the knife wipe!! hard to beat the original though. love a good homage!! “he’s right there!!” lol hilarious and like realistic almost surprised you don’t drop that “it’s a scream” more often haha it’s too perfect haha nice wigwork I never noticed that. Patrick Dempsey was such a trooper for this!! love love the screening room and secret passages and stuff in the mansion. I wasn’t loving Roman as a villain because he wasn’t super set up but I do appreciate the tie in to her mom and bring the first three together. and the idea that he’s a director manipulating the whole situation works on a meta level too! so I think I kinda like him. and I love that he blames her like a typical narcissistic villain monologue bc it’s like and she’s like “you need to take responsibility” hahaha i was like finally someone calls out the villain for dodging all the blame it’s a boring motivation for him but the way they handled it had me laughing so I was down with it. and lack of responsibility/victim blaming is a thing for deviant behavior so it’s at least relatively realistic. the illogical logic of madness. oh wow didn’t realize he was the only solo killer!! Angelina has some sketchy moments I think but of course that ended up being a red herring I guess. Roman became what Stu would’ve been essentially. But like in reverse haha. I do love the final cut line. I wonder how they pulled off that producer character, maybe the ws bros are so delusional they didn’t realize it was a jab? could that even be possible? maybe accidentally telling on themselves by trying to get ahead of it. ouuuuchie wow Neve has a double stabs under her belt!! maybe she’s the killer?? lol not Sidney but Neve, that would be too meta. over the line!! so true I’m glad Dewey finally made it to the third act showdown hahah aw yeah love Gale and Dewey’s lil lifetime moment and I feel ya in the door open. nice symbolism but.. leaves? dust? dirt? bugs? lizards? birds? lol not even a screen door! honestly yeah this is a scream film for film nerds. I suppose I’m partial to the industry commentary but I agree, it’s probably the funniest and I feel like the ongoing commodification of the franchise and lack of control by the creators deepens the meta aspect that is quintessential in scream. it’s like it turned a bad thing into a good thing. definitely not as masterful but still enjoyable!! I can understand why people don’t like scream 3 as much as the others but personally it’s so fun to watch!! scream *season* 3 showed me how much of a difference being w*instein free be. the franchise now less restrained to a commercial product and more whatever story needs to be told. or at least so I optimistically believe! scream VI is coming out this week!! so exciting. another slapper!! this series has been rippin dude, been dropping em quick but they don’t feel rushed. so much stuff I didn’t know about the making of. and the transitions and jokes- next level in this one lol i’m all gassed up and inspired now! what a great way to get the week going. it’s a scream!
