This week, Shikie (Aka misstiramisu) and Ivy (aka Just Ivy Africa) tell us the things they did not know about having school going children.
.
From secrets your children bring back home to the items they don't (kids lose a lot of stuff in schools tbh, we were shocked!
.
Let us know if you relate to the lessons shared here, or let us know your own experience so we may all learn together!

News flash our kids innocently report all events to their class teachers so basically the teachers know your whole family dynamics .
When the rest of us were going to paradise lost in class 3 Shikie was in Seychelles. This life no balance 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My kindergarten ends at around age 6 and part of graduating to big school, kids go on a farm trip 3nights away outside county. All my kids have experienced it, and its the best memory they have for their kindergarten. The teachers are so involved and they are a phone call away from parents. Ironically, that is what kids look forward to as a milestone to their graduation and not even one cries!
On the trip thing I'm with Shikie. If my child is not 30min-1hr away I cannot. Also on trips especially long or expensive trips I saw a tik tok that made me think as well...why do they tell kids first instead of telling the parents first. I am not comfortable with that system. I was also not comfortable as a child. Because kids know the situation in their families both belief wise and financially. Just because they can afford the fees doesnt mean they can afford multiple trips a year. FOMO is real. My opinion on any school activity outside of core curriculum send the info to the parents first.

The schools make profits out of these extra activities & trips; thats why they tell the kids first and put pressure on them to want to go, that way the child will pressure the parent to pay.

@Betty Kíirü so true and I hate it with so much passion. They use FOMO as a weapon against parents. And no parent wants to see their child heartbroken

Loved how you added the bloopers/behind the scenes at the end, nice and welcomed add 👌
Yes, I have allowed my child to go for out of school trips I guess from age 7. I beleive they have more to lose when they miss such trips. Besides, I trust the teachers to take good care of them as they do on a daily.
Fun short topic with some gems . I enjoyed the bloopers at the end too 😂😂😂; great way to end the episode .
I enjoyed this episode. Very informative. Am in the searching stage.. the tips are very helpful. Looking great ladies.

Guys please do a video on choosing a school for our kids. What do you consider when choosing a school. Good info guys.

Let me just answer from my small experience. 1. Finances. Can you afford the school (ie you don't have to take loans to pay the school fees every term) 2. Your daily commute. You don't want your children to spend so much time to and from school. This is exhausting for you and them. 3. Education system or curriculum you are after. British curriculum? American? Local curriculum? Do you want a school established on Christian or Islam principles? 4. Age of the child. The younger the child you may want them to be in a smaller school as these ladies have discussed. 5. Ofcourse the general performance of the students in the school. How do they perform at National level? Any co curriculum activities the school engages in? Sports, music etc 6. General attitude of the staff. Remember you are not looking for a school for just your child. It's for you as well because you are part of the deal. If you cannot relate with the staff well, it will be tough for important discussions.

Im in diaspora and this is my stage of life. Here I have gone to view 3 schools and my husband has viewed 4.
My nephew is so smart it creeps me out aki😭😭😭😭 this little man changes my Netflix account language to Russian. Guys!!! He’s 7😂😂😂😂
@Shikkie I think children require those experiences , do not gate her experiences because of your fear of abandonment .Do what you need to do to be comfortable. Replace the fear with Love and become the chaperone . Or something else.
69th like 😁 Not a Mama but took care of my niece for a while.. issamotherhood is just learning new things everyday Love the episode ladies
I love to plan before hand now this motherhood chronicles has taken my planning skills a bit higher because weeeuh!!!I am not a fun of sudden surprises in btwn the term...when the school newsletter for the term comes out I go through it as if preparing for an exam just to avoid surprises sijui school trip,costumes....
Quite interesting things to learn, my son is beginning his education come 2023 still looking for a school and I will take gheed into some of these lessons here kwanza looking for a school focused on ECDE only. However, the title of the video is confusing, though its about a mum who is in school pursuing her studies, I needed that too cz I look forward to going back to school in future God willing.
This is beautifulll
The one thing ladies are blessed with are instincts. So if your instincts are not okay with your children going for trips (no matter how old they are). Don't allow them to go. Congratulations to Lornzie ☺️
Y'all look beautiful😍😍😍
Yeeee I'm being peeped very very soon
Looking great ladies ,@Ivy kindly where did you make your hair?
Bloopers 😂
Thee bloopers🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂about showering, yikes, that is quite wau
the bloopers are everything hahhaha
Very relatable. Weeeeh
I parent a 15yr old and my answer is No. Any place that I can't reach in 30mins is too far to leave her alone. She's going to zimbabwe next year for a school something and I will follow them. I know where they will stay, I will find accommodation nearby. It's already planned 😂😂😂. I am going too... I know the day I have my own kids, letting go will be my biggest challenge.
I think I grossly misunderstood the title because I thought this would be a video on how it was being a high school-school mum 😂

my son 9yrs is supposed to be traveling to Tz for a scouting trip and I wouldn’t allow…am soo scared
Congs to Lonzie
the older Ivy gets the more smoking hot she is.....god damn
I would allow my kid to go for a school trip at whatever age. Because If was to withhold my babies from going away, trust me, even my 30 year old baby, I would not let me off my sight🤣
On the 7 year old trip question… I’d say it depends on how mature your kid is … some 7 year olds are quite responsible but the average 7 year old is really not old enough to just be let out like that
There is a kid I know whose family only showered on Saturdays. How do I know? We were neighbors and the mom would call them for ‘shower time’ 😂😂😂😂😂

One thing I'll consider before choosing a school is how they discipline the kids.I can't do a school where they beat, pinch or slap babies coz I'll fight them😭😂
The end 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My parenting style has progressed and changed after I came to understand and listen to my child. The number of times I have bought rubbers wacha Tu The father was losing it because of pencils 🤣🤣🤣 Each term we buy water bottles and lunch /Snack boxes its crazy Let's not talk about school bags 🤣🤣🤣 He wants cartoon themed. And you have to ask before you do because you might be disappointed with his reaction
personally i wouldnt allow.. even though i dont have kids yet, just nieces n nephews.. bt maybe a ten year old or older
The ending 😂😂
Weh I wouldn't allow even a sleep over I don't know maybe cause my baby is 4yrs maybe when she is seven I may think diff but I doubt. It would cause me touch anxiety

Si u share that excel we check as well
Kindly share contact of the home tutor I am school shopping and previous experience could really help.
2nd😁😂
Just yesterday, I bought my son a monster truck worth 2500 as his graduation gift and one wheel is already out today😭😭
I think I would.... Koz if you a working- out- if the home mum, and you have a week long trip, you would leave them..
Hi Shikie & Ivy, Age 7 is really young for me to let a child be out of my sight for 3 days, on a school trip. But I also think I'd be okay with it because Rwanda is a small country so there's really no place that's too far (I think the farthest point is a 5 or 6 hours drive).
Still can't believe Ivy blocked me like 3 years ago cause i asked if she could mentor me in finance. Lol. Anyway still enjoy the content from the girls.
I would never allow my child to go for search a long time mbu school trip😏 Day trips yes. Thank you ladies for sharing.
Guys, what do you do if your kid is getting bullied? My 6yo is being bullied by his deskmate and I feel like retaliating.. I have a few ideas but will I be teaching him to be petty?
@MinPatience
Жыл бұрын
My daughter was bullied by a maturer girl in her class. I went to school and reported from an angle of understanding where the bully’s home background. Learnt quite a bit about why she was bullying her classmates… The experience gave me an opportunity to teach my daughter how to defend herself from bullying and harassment in school, as opposed to moving schools as we had thought of. Also gave an opportunity for the bully to be seen and home troubles addressed. Like Ivy said, me advocating for my daughter gave her confidence in herself and has since learnt to have boundaries with her friends.
First😊
Germs 😷🤒
My child is not going for any overnight trips or sleep overs before 16yrs. That's just me. I believe by 16, We shall have had enough conversations about the possible dangers.
Parents please be nice to teachers these pole know everything about your families .ifyou guys slept hungry, if the parents were fighting,if the dad has been smashing the help we as teachers know 😂if the help does fishy stuff Be nice 🤭🤭😂
I would not allow my child out for four days. So who is washing them? And tummy aches etc Aiiiii no
shikie not the watch w the bracelet thingi smh
