    Like around here people often say “No Problem” when asked a question or after having done a favour and being thanked. Most people know it just means “You’re welcome,” but now and then someone will still look slightly affronted and say, “Why would it have been a problem?” 😂

  • @user-rq7hv6lf8c

    Often thought exactly the same thing: (If your threshold for problems are THAT low, than I better avoid it to demand ANYTHING from you.)...but I don't say it out loud.

  • @musMiro

    @musMiro

    2 ай бұрын

    Because for some foreigners it may be strange to use "You are welcome". It doesn't translate well to some other languages. Many languages use word like "please", but you don't use it like that.. So for someone, who is not native English speaker "no problem" might sound better, than "you are welcome".

  • @benkalem

    @benkalem

    2 ай бұрын

    The difference between "you're welcome" and "no problem" is that the former implies you having gone through some trouble to accommodate the other person, while the latter statement means you didn't even consider it to be worth mentioning. For the younger generation, a certain degree of kindness is the default expectation, not something extra you give out, like it used to be with the older generations.

    There's a couple of phrases like in arabic too. Its usually a preface when you're giving a negative answer or when you're telling them you're not qualified to answer the question. Alot of people lie because they hate saying "i don't know". Its not a sinister reason, just low self esteem.
