In my early 20s, I worked with Muslims almost exclusively from Iran. They were absolutely lovely. They showed me so much love when I needed it most. When 9/11 happened, they were mortified along with the rest of us. One of my friends named Ali died in a motorcycle accident and it was the first time I went to a Muslim funeral. It was pure culture shock. There was only one man from Kuwait that was very disturbing to me. I had to pick him up from the airport and drive him alone in my car, and he made advances the entire time after only knowing for about two minutes. I will admit that’s the only time I’ve been afraid.

That sounds like my experience of working in Istanbul in my early 20's. I got a marriage proposal from someone who was staring at me on a ferry. I was looking out at the view and he came over "I see you have no ring and am wondering why such beautiful young lady does not have husband, I think I will make good husband!! 🤣It was no fun at the time though, the men were forever chasing western women and I just wanted to go about my day and not be constantly harrassed by the men there.

As a Muslim myself, I think it's beyond insulting to go to someone else's country and think you can just force you're own beliefs on citizens of that country. It's not even like the majority of the native citizens were converted after countless hours of evangelizing which turned the majority of the British Muslim (even then it still wouldn't have been ok). Hey Muslims SHARIA LAW ISNT GODS LAW. It's man interpretation. If the founding fathers of America all read the Quran and wrote the American constitution (the EXACT SAME CONSTITUTION WE HAVE NOW) based off of their interpretation of the Quran, America would be technically living under "sharia law" even tho literally nothing would change and we would still have the exact way of life as we do now. There's numerous countries that have sharia law but all those countries laws are different. That's because sharia law is still man's own law. God is universal and wouldn't have different laws for different countries. Stop trying to force yourself onto others especially when they were kind enough to let you in the first place. All those people trying to impose sharia law on a population who aren't even Muslims are hurting Islam way more than helping. You're giving legitimacy to Islamophobia by actively trying to destroy another country's culture and having zero respect for their history and values. All you're doing is getting the world to turn against Islam. If you truly wanted to spread your religion then actually evangelize by performing dawah, respect your country's culture and people, don't look to rip apart the country's constitution and live by laws of the country while being grateful that you're in a free country that allows you the freedom to practice your religion the way you want to. Oh and before any ignorant person tells me that I need to "go back to where I came from", I'm from American, born and raised. I'm a Caucasian male not an Arab who is a convert and I take full advantage of my country's freedom to practice whatever religion I choose. I'm not going anywhere.
