Even the sentences in the US are lax as far as I can see. And Canada, The UK and, as I I learn more about global law, I see that most of Europe, have SHOCKINGLY SHORT SENTENCES!! I agree They are out of line with the idea of punishment being a serious diversion from criminal activity. I agree. Seems the jaw hasn't caught up with modern psychology. It has become pretty clear that people usually do not commit things like murder by accident, just one time, ever. Violent crime generally stems from a maladaptive view of the world, and ways if reducing pain, which operates throughout one's life. If someone is able to kill dispassionately once, and shows a marked lack of distress and remorse, it is most likely a result of a faulty gene pattern and it will happen again. It's not a choice or a mistake. Killing and dominating is a way of resolving pain..

No, I don’t believe it at all. The idea that people just snap one day goes against tens of decades of the latest and most scientific and psychological studies of the brains and what causes reactions, and also the thousands of studies, if not more, on personality disorders. A person does not wake up one day and become a psychopath or other top tier personality disorder. There needs to be a series of behaviors and a significant time period since very early childhood. Now if you are referring to a psychotic break, with the word, Psychotic, not having any relation to Psychopath, you would need to have already have a mental health disorder, but without any history at all, this would be impossible, outside of a brain trauma, or sometimes it is even seen in a cancerous brain tumor.

Trying to understand evil, I get. Positing people _may not_ be responsible for their evil acts is a bridge too far. If a person understands right from wrong, and is not insane at the time of the criminal act, then they are responsible.

The dictator game would also be a good indicator of a persons political persuasion. My first thought is to share the money equally, because the other person and I are in the same situation, we don't know what's ahead and we both need to survive. If I caught a grouse in the wild, and another person did not, and we were both needing food, I would share the grouse equally. If the other person had two grouse, I would keep my grouse all for myself.

I’m starting to think everyone who bullies at school needs a psych evaluation & fmri of the brain before they leave school or these behaviours worsen trouble is half the psychiatrists are also narcissistic bullies who deny the crimes victims have endured! I was not loved by my mother as a child put in boarding school I turned to saving others mostly animals but also peole in distress I became a super Empath so o don’t believe this explanation of his early childhood rejection is the cause at all I believe it’s genetics! I totally agree. All the study of the brain got already told us man has disorder desires. And not all of our thoughts are our own. This is part of the problem. These psychologists don’t believe evil exist. Evil is real in our pride or in our temptations to think only of ourselves or think we are smarter than we actually are. Know more than our Creator and do not seek to know who Jesus really is and who we really are. There really is no other way around it. Also not the Jesus we were taught (handed down-for good or bad) but as we grow continue a seeking understanding and relationship. It is pride or giving in to temptation. God sees the heart we can never truly know in the end but we can have an idea if we face ourselves and then seek our true identity and worth not what others say we are. This is very hard but worthwhile.

The Hope part is hard and this was confusing for me when I encountered a lot of psychotherapy because I became in despair that my rage and some of the bad intrusive thoughts were all mine to be responsible for and convinced I was evil. Believing we were in a battle (spiritual) and that some of these thoughts were temptations on my emotions and thoughts were so helpful to realize that God had not given up on me but that evil was real and I could choose but also needed God’s help but bad thoughts can come from the devil not just me. It helped me immensely with despair. I was Christian my whole life but went thru a lot and often fought difficult thoughts and emotions that in therapy I was told were all part of me. This was confusing and also what my perpetrators wanted me to believe and I believe evil wants us to believe and despair of too. To believe we don’t have a choice and therefore no hope
