IS YOUR PEEP SIGHT IN THE RIGHT LOCATION?
Спорт
Proper peep placement based on your unique anatomy and facial features is critical to archery accuracy and consistency. The placement of your peep sight will determine your anchor, and your anchor will determine the position of the arrow on your face. If your peep is in the wrong position, your anchor and arrow placement will be as well. John Dudley of Nock On Archery will teach you how to find your correct peep position and share a tip to locate it quickly and easily on any new bow you set up.

John, Thanks you for everything that you have shared over the years on how to properly setup, tune, and shoot a bow. Three years ago, I borrowed a bow from a friend that took me whitetail hunting for the first time, and that year and I tagged my first deer. Fast forward to today, I now refurbish and build my own custom bows, hydrodip and make graphics, build my own arrows, make my own strings and cables, and tune everything myself! I can truly say that I wouldn’t have acquired half the knowledge to do any of that without your help through sharing your knowledge. Now I’m completely hooked and can’t stop launching arrows. This has also turned into a full family hobby/sport for myself and my young kids. I can’t thank you enough, sir! Your dedication to sharing knowledge is appreciated more than you would ever know. God bless you and your family!

So much detail! Best videos available!
I like how in depth your videos are, very well explained as usual 😁
Great structured explanation of best practice and motor skills as ever! Thanks John! 😊🏹🎯
So many great tips in this video that didn't necessarily have to do with peep height. Thank you.
Thanks again, Mr. Dudley! Glad to leave you a comment, always appreciate your videos. Taking up the bow in the last two years kept me sane and I found a really great community of people. All the best from CA!

John, once I found your channel I have been swallowing up your training videos like crazy. I got my first bow about a month ago and have found your teaching to be the most useful, by far. I now use your 6 step process each time I pick up the bow. One question regarding peep height. Can you get that vertical measurement by measuring the distance of your pupil to the space between lip and chin with a ruler in front of a mirror? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Excellent video and explanation, very thorough, detailed & extremely helpful.

Thanks Dud! Perfectly explained! Nock On Dude!
Really useful, thanks. I had my bow setup having never shot one before! So when they were asking me if I thought it was in the right place I was just guessing. There wasn’t even a sight on the bow so I wasn’t sure what I was looking for!!! Wish I’d seen this video before I had it done 🤦🏻
Great video! Just got my first bow setup, and we shot quite a bit until my peep and form seemed just right. I've since been practicing at home, and my peep seemed off. I wasn't sure if it was my form causing me to be off, or the peep. Now I have some things to check next time I shoot my bow. Going to Setup my camera when I shoot tonight. Thanks.
Gems of wisdom for someone that hasn’t shot a peep sight in 15 years. Now with new bow it seems like I’m starting all over learning to get comfortable with using a peep. Thank you

Always enjoy the information you share and explain! I don't know your experience or the amount of information you have on good practices for those that shoot with fingers on a compound. I'm sure we're in the few minority as releases seem the way to go for most but I'd be curious on your thoughts and maybe a video talking point?

Very good stuff 👏
Peep perfection with a handful of hair love it.
Measuring the distance from peep to center of arrow is a game changer when you shoot multiple axle to axle bows at 31.5" draw!
Thank you John for the great teaching videos. Could you make a video of your shot trainer. I purchased it to practice my anchoring position and surprised shot with back tension. I would like to know if I am using your shot trainer properly for the most benefit. Thank you, Tim
Thanks a lot
Very informative 👍

Was just thinking about this recently as I noticed unnecessary neck strain when I’m done shooting. I’m noticing I’m having to tilt me head down to make sure things are aligned. Just a tiny bit off but this video is very timely.

I really need to check my peep. So many so good videos thanks!!! It would be so much nicer to watch these videos if you would have better microphone, now its like phone quality and hard to listen. Or maybe the mic is good enough but room acoustics makes it sound like only mid frequences.
I would love to be able to sit down with you for a day just to pick your brain and have you check out how I shot bc I feel like you would make me a better shooter in a day compared to wat I can do for myself in years lol, plz keep up the great work your amazing

Can you do a video on how to get rid of peep rotation
Wonder would you tell us what your Elk arrow build is? Be going soon and am curious
Any recs with regard to slider sights. Set up peep with front sight around 40-50ish? If you set up at 20 will be hard to see when slider is down to 100?
Looks like a sneak peak on the grip of that bow.
How does peep height correlate to your sight housing? If you move the peep sight down, does the sight housing go up or down?
What if nose does not contact string without tilting head forward?
@joelbearham5785

Same question here, I have to tilt head forward to get my nose on the string..
Isn’t sight alignment dependent on the yardage set on the slider?
I keep struggling to get my bow up to get my pin on the target. After an while my bow shoulder fatigues and accuracy falls off. PLEASE help, thank you.

Think I’m having the problem with my peep size. Got a bow 10 years ago. Haven’t shot my bow for the last 6 years due to life. Picked my bow up two days ago and shooting all over the place
If tipping the head slightly is needed to contact the string, would you recommend using a nose button?
@nockonarchery
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary - Personally, I am not a nose button or kisser button fan. For sharper string angles the draw length may need to come back a little further and use a slightly smaller d-loop to make up the difference.
Dud, I saw years ago that you want to lower your peep so that you don't have a floating hand when shooting at longer distances. Any solution to get around that? I have lowered my peep, but I also seem to have my triple stack and fletching contact at 100 yards at 74#. I think that my peep is centered at 60 yards. I would think that I could get a bit more range. Your expertise is much appreciated.
@nockonarchery
2 жыл бұрын
For events like TAC where you are shooting longer distances I center my peep for 60. The problem is that a triple stack can have a larger housing, which can create more interference. For long range shooting you will want a small sight housing. Back in the day with some of my older sights I would use a plum bob and come straight down off of my pins and add a pin to the top of my bubble, which would give me another 10 yards or so. I would wrap it around the bubble and adhere it with 5 min. epoxy. It worked perfectly for another yardage marker at the bottom of my housing. You can consider doing something like that as well. Good luck!

@@nockonarchery thanks for the feedback. Coming from Spot Hoggs small housing to the triple stack is a big jump. No reason to make it that big.
Fuckin great knowledge 👏 👌u just made me a better shooter 🙌
Height. Not heigth. Heigth isn’t a word. So many people get this wrong. Length has a th. Length has a th. Height has an ht, not a th.
