This was so helpful! My son had experienced neck and shoulder pain following a day of fishing, and this narrowed it down to muscle pain, not a pinched nerve. Thanks guys!

Good suggestions. I also find that stretching the chest muscles greatly relieves pain and helps with poor posture. The back muscles become so stretched and the chest muscles become so tight it is impossible for some people to bring their neck and shoulders back into proper alignment. Stretch the chest, strengthen the back!!!

I had chronic shoulder pain for about 3 years so bad it woke me up at night. As soon as I got into weight lifting and began training the shoulders- specifically shrugs and face pulls the pain was gone and hasn't been back. I was amazed but so happy to finally feel great! Also- mind your posture, that helps too. I've learned that when something hurts on your body-strength train it and usually the pain will go. I'm 46 and feel the best I've ever felt all due to a heavy weightlifting regimen..

I am your age, I am an avid runner and generally been in very good shape my whole life. I did some thing after I was running while maybe trying to do squats with weights over my head and that was four months ago I have not been able to sleep I am in excruciating pain that radiates from my neck my shoulder all the way down my arm which makes me think it’s nerve pain. I wish you could show me these exercises you’re doing because I feel great while doing light weights but I soon as I’m done the next day or if I overexert myself to get lean, I am in soo much pain I can’t sleep and Tylenol and all the over-the-counter anti-inflammatories are just tearing my stomach up and my kidneys and probably my liver too 😩

@@HH-gv8mx Oh no, sorry you're going through that. If it's that bad I would definitely see at least a chiropractor. It could be something is pinched. I don't know if I would strength train if the area is irritated and inflamed or in alot of pain. You can youtube face pulls, shrugs, rotator cuff exercises with bands or cable machine, bent over rows- those all help strengthen that area. Also make sure you're in good posture throughout the day. That means sitting tall, shoulder slightly back and down, ears over the shoulders. Overall the best option is full body strength training so everything is even and future injuries are prevented. I hope you get relief, constant pain is awful!

Bob & Brad - I’ve been a home office standing desk warrior for over 6 years, over the last two weeks I’ve been suffering from left shoulder/trap pain radiating out from the left trap down the the hand w/ occasional numbness. The only difference in the last two weeks has been deadlifts w/ the trap bar in the gym, not heavy weight but a new bar Ive never used before. I hope I can back to living/working pain free.

Ok Wow! Wow! Wow! You guys are so amazing!!! I fell years ago are seriously injured my shoulder. I was my dads caregiver at the time so I put off caring for it. It got a little better but never fully. Then I did a trade show in Feb of 2020 and came home with a really bad shoulder! The pain started in my neck and shoulder and thru the year it gradually spread down my arm into my forearm! Three people told me last week it sounded like a pinched nerve... so I looked up Bob and Brad and found this video!!! It three days now and after the first exercise it felt noticeably better! Day two... even more relief!!! Today !!! I carried my coffee mug upstairs in my right hand which I have not been able to do for months!!! My shoulder and neck are a bit tight but I am confident that will be better very soon! I cannot thank you enough! I was certain I was going to need an operation and I was not going in the hospital until after the virus was completely gone! I’m even using my right hand to type this message which I could not do three days ago!!! THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I noticed that too. The background drawing on the white board was clear, but the focus on the spine was fuzzy. That can be adjusted instantly with a finger-tap right on the area you want to zoom in on (in this case, the spine), if you're using an iPhone video camera.

Interesting info! One thing I'd like to add, I had that typical terrible shoulder/neck pain, rotator cuff area too for 3 years, tried chiro, massage, yoga etc. What finally got rid of it was weightlifting. After about 4-5 sessions of shoulder/trap/romboid lifts it disappeared. I started with lighter weight, the shoulders felt so weird and "crunchy" unlike other the other body parts but it got better quickly. I weight train 3x full body of course and its been the best thing I've done. I'm 47, been lifting since about age 40 and have never had that pain again. I will say what brought me here is pinched nerves making my left hand go numb so I still have issues, but as far as that chronic pain that made sleeping difficult and required constant Exedrin- that's long gone.

I’ve had to stop working out for three weeks because I don’t want to hurt it but I think that maybe I do need to start lifting weights.

We often have to shift things that weigh as much as we do, so lifting isn't an option. Repetitive motion is another problem. I think if you look at the work you'll see how perilous it is to our bodies, and we aren't all big, muscular guys. The reason I ask is because your information on lower back pain and posture have been immediate and enormous help through the winter. It's spring now, so can you spring into action on this?

Yep definitely pain starts when I put my head back. Radiates all down my arm. Has for 7 months. It's sort of a burning pain and keeps me up at night.

I currently have a pinched nerve inbetween my shoulder/shoulder blade -- causing a VERY intense, stabbing ache in my shoulder, neck, and down entire left arm. The pain is similar to that of a sprain, and VERY intense. But, all I gotta say is, thank GOD for Gabapentin (Neurontin). Look it up! If you are experiencing a pinched or trapped nerve, ask your doctor or ER physician for it. Pain relief BIG time. Not an opioid, either!

You guys rock! I have a question, I’ve been experiencing neck problems lately (3 weeks) When I do neck tucks I get sharp pains and can’t tuck too deep. But can look up and tilt my head back fairly fine.. I’ve torn my AC in my right shoulder 10+ years ago and potentially tore my right rotator cuff last year. Would this be related to muscular or nerve??

I have to comment here. I made posts to this and other videos not having any clue about this issue. Cervical radiculopathy. Anyway I was in SEVERE pain and I think it should be noted to NOT do these things when in bad pain as it only makes it much worse. I had to ice and relax for a couple of weeks before I could even THINK about any type stretches. The chin tuck would send MASSIVE shot down my left arm and pain in neck as well. Never do things to the side of pain that are bad. It will make it worse. Trust me. I didn’t know this could be so painful. Almost two months of no work (mail carrier). First day back today. Slight tingles in left hand but no pain and I need to also recover my strength in left tricep. I had an MRI and have bulging disc c5-c6 and some with c7. Thanks for tips. I thought my life was over. It was the worst pain I’ve ever had in my life. I actually was able to go to indoor golf range and hit balls very well. Super happy now. STRETCH PEOPLE! EVERT DAY AND DRINK LOTS OF WATER. LOTS!!

How did you recover? Mine has been 5 weeks Started at the bottom left shoulder blade. Worked its way up to the neck. Then to my shoulder. Down my tricep and bicep sides and elbow hurts and 4 fingers tingle. Had some chest pain but that has gone away. The pain on the tricep side, DAMN!!!!!! Keeps me awake at night and when I do sleep, it wakes me up in the morning. F N Hell for the last 5 weeks.

@@danoneall4013 Ohh that sounds CRAZY. I got physiotherapy sessions and they used a needle to relax my stiffed muscle. Then I had to do the chin exercise where you have to correct your posture & then push your chin back. KZread "herniated disc C6-C7". The finger tingling means damage to disc C6-C7. My tricep was numb back then. I have recovered and the therapist said that the only solution is to strengthen my back. I am still Frightened of that pain I wish you recover bro.

I cannot remember anything i did that was abnormal. But come to think about about it, when my wife tried to massage my neck area after the back, I wanted NOTHING to do with it. Pain oh pain like OUCH!!!! LoL... I see a neurologist on Wednesday. In 2 days... We well see. I'm sure I well have to do an MRI.

I've had a lingering pain in my Spenilus Capitis area (lower left side of my neck). It is probably a level 3-4 pain that comes and goes every single day. No numbness or pain in my arms but I do kinda sense that when I mess with my left shoulder the pain feels different. Did 2 PT sessions. Got a cortisone 2 weeks ago. Pain free for 10 days. The pain is back and my cervical MRI is schefuled for Monday. Whatever it may be I 100% need to identify it and find a solution BC this is terrible.

Have you ever come across a case where the pectorals stop functioning, stop firing or being able to contract them no matter the technique and atrophy developing as a result? I have constant right stiff neck pain and right scapula pain and right trap pain. Right shoulder takes on all the load when exercising as pec muscle won’t activate. Any ideas of the cause?
