How to Overcome Cervical Pinched Nerve & Radiculopathy (Don't Panic) - Dr. Alan Mandell, DC

Pinched nerves, also known as compressive neuropathy conditions, are one of the most commonly implicated diagnostic theories used to explain combination neck pain symptoms in the upper body including: neck and shoulder pain, neck and arm pain, neck and hand pain and neck and finger pain. Compressed nerves are also usually blamed for causing many of the associated neurological symptoms which may occur in any of these areas, including tingling, weakness or numbness in the upper appendages. There could also be numerous possible causes for a trigger point, such as an poor head posture, acute injury, repetitive overuse, or irritation of facet joints in the spine, to name a few. Trigger point pain is thought to result from nodules-or tight “knots”-that develop in the otherwise smooth muscle. The number one rule I will teach you to overcome this condition is not to panic! I am married to one, and it used to bother me how invested my husband is in his patients out of his office hours. I mean he gives his cell phone number to some patients!!!! I used to hate it because it is my personal time with him. But , I came to the conclusion that this world needs more physicians like them! Specially since I started to have to health issues myself and have suffered the neglect from the modern medical field. Is blessing that I have someone that all he does is taking care his patients beyond almost any circumstances.

I have pinched nerve in C5 and this video was 100% accurate to describe my problems with it. My observations from last 3 years with this problem is that best thing you can do is to strengthen your neck muscles and focus on posture. My new daily routine is little bit of self-massage at the back of the neck. Then rotating head to all possible direction, so stretching. And lastly but the most important is to strengthen those neck muscles. I try to rotate my head in different directions and press against that rotation with my hands. Best thing for your health is to activate and strengthen your muscles around the body.

They ha to do an emergency surgery to fuse his neck. He is much much better.

Thank you for this video. I have sever degenerate disc disease. I am a retired mail carrier. I was foolish and was lifting a 70 lb package all day instead of taking it to the house as soon as I got out to deliver. By the end of the day I could barely walk. I had to go to the postal doctor. The doctor wanted me to go out on disability retirement. Which is unheard of with postal doctors. I told him no that I was foolish and I will be ok just need some therapy. He asked how I was able to still walk because people with my type of degeneration disc disease can barely walk. I told him I sit up straight. I tried to keep my posture as best as I can. I also keep my back strong. I work for two more years and then I retired. But I did learn my lesson and not the 70 lb all day long. Also, I had a good massage therapist that I would use once a week or every 2 weeks. It helped me get through the whole entire week of lifting all that weight.

Dr. How nice to see your videos. I have just started following you. Having worked 40 years as labourer and bulldozer operator, I am now disabled. Diagnosed with MS, a non compensable disease. The above video just woke me up! With my neck exercises I’m presently decreasing my trigeminal nerve pain! Thank you, may de Universe shine upon your kindness for doing these videos. Jorge.

Hi maniullopes5961.. so sorry to hear about your ms. Just remember that a healthy diet and good clean water plays a huge roll in ms. Throw away the foodstuffs with preservatives and unhealthy carbohydrates. I sincerely hope that you can address your disease in this manner as well. Read up on nutrition and ms.Good luck!

I'm searching for help for pain in my upper left shoulder that goes up into my neck and ear and down my left arm. In addition to this pain, my other problem is when I lay down for bed, I've woken up in a panic: racing heart, shortness of breath and I believe it's due to this pain. This is all new to me, I have an appointment to see a neurologist for guidance, but I'm going to definitely watch all of your videos to help me learn how I can fix myself. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
