I’d be skeptical of that. The Kodiak has been the only decent one they have put out. Check out my latest review on the their latest product, the RV-10. Reading their FAQ/Help section is also discouraging about them being not able to implement WTT Garmins and basically using a Legacy autopilot with bugs and a Garmin that is no longer supported. It also looks like they are going to try force Sky4Sim moving forward which is ok but still had a lot of bugs with the in game tablet. Crashes and a notepad that will still use your key binds when typing. Plus most features need are behind a payware. Buyer beware!

I mean, it's always sensible to be skeptical of things before making a purchase, but i would say that if SWS are putting as much effort into the PC-12 as they seem to be, it certainly has the potential to be a faaaaar more in-depth rendition of the aircraft. If anything, if one really wants a PC-12 (and who doesn't?), I'd say the best option is to at least wait and see what SWS comes out with before deciding on one of them.

I do hope they have an excellent product, recent history of their products and overall tone when errors are brought up to them they blame others such as WTT, Microsoft, and Asobo. I agree if you do not own it could be worth waiting but if they release it without compatibility for GTN750 support and make you uninstall any WTT Garmins it will be too far behind and using outdated systems that are abandoned this point, even by Asobo. Time will tell and fingers crossed it is great as I would love a more study level product. But I’m a little bitter as myself and others basically got robbed of $20 from the RV-10. Also if they force the Sky4Sim product, while optional, it feels really sketchy to have your in game tablet require additional files, and software running in the background that has to connect to an external server. Plus most of the functions are behind a paywall. I’ll be waiting to see with skepticism.

@@sprocketsimulations SWS recently confirmed that they will be including a 750/650 combo with their PC-12. The way I see it, it isn't unfair for them to point to WT and Asobo for their problems with the RV-10. Working Title admitted that their GNS530 currently doesn't work with the G3X very well. I suppose SWS could have canceled the RV-10 release when they learned that, but solving that problem would add a significantly higher workload for SWS at the last minute before their planned release. I don't expect anything similar with the PC-12, since it will not be using the G3X.

Thanks for this late-review! I just hope more reviewers do these revisits to certain products after their bugs are corrected. The PC-12 is my most flown aircraft in MSFS, have flown her from Ushuaia all the way up to St. Barthélemy. The ratings in the Marketplace don't reflect the current state of this addon.

I’d like to throw in my 2¢ here a couple of months after the fact: as of July 2023 some flights go just fine all the way to parking the plane, but on every 3rd flight or so I get extreme framerate drops in cockpit view when on final approach. Going to external view the framerate recovers, but when I switch back to cockpit view it drops back to 2 or 3 fps. It will stay that way until I turn off the avionics after parking. I fly this plane exclusively IFR, and it happens on both RNAV and ILS approaches. But like I say, sometimes it all goes just like it should and I haven’t been able to figure out anything that triggers it. I tried just turning off the Avidyne MFD at the beginning of the flight to maybe lighten the load; no difference. Happens with both the stock GNS 530 and the Working Title 530 mod. I’m on Series X so as far as I’m aware those are my only two options in that regard.

Thanks for your input. Someone else recently wrote about the inconsistent frame rate issues. I definitely do not have any but I am on PC. I wonder if the other person was on XBOX as well. Bizarre it does it only some of the time. Keep me updated if you find out the cause as I do not have an Xbox.

As of the date of this comment it is having some FPS issues again. I tried different settings and setups to see if I could identify the reason and I cannot. After ~2 hours of flight time it will start to drop. It is interesting because it is not like a true performance issue as it just stops using your graphics card fully. I can hear my fan curve drop as it just isn't being used as much and therefore the FPS drop. Very weird.

Thank You for the review and no more Carenado for me I do have a few and understand the negative and positve and accept them as they are and wiill wait for a PC 12 from someone else.

Hopefully SimWorks turns out better than the RV-10! Curious as what you feel is missing from this version. The only inoperable items are oxygen flow, ahrs1 and 2 (which are know to never used in the real aircraft), the redundancy ehsi switch, again doesn’t get used IRL. The only one I would like to see work is the cabin ECS but is minor. The pressurization works, the pusher is modeled and functional, auto pilot works great, and you can have your choice of avionics in a aircraft that looks amazing. The flight model and performance numbers are accurate, sounds are good and well done lighting and cabin features. Carenado also provides you with either abbreviated or complete real world documentation. A failure system like black square would be amazing and my only true wish for something like this. I always appreciate your support Mike and this is a genuine question that I would love to know what you feel is missing?

Perhaps this particular PC 12 is based on an PC 12 long ago in a sim from long ago that had its issues like load and Carenado came along and mended it another first for Carenado. I think out of all the Carenado this has the most replicated features. But also think that for whatever reason a lot of people will hate on them without flying the newer or updated stuff. The 170b, the Beech 18, the new Archer ii, and even the Bonaza V35 are all fantastic. Most developers that are in the same price range have poor textures, no analog gauges or options to install other avionics, and usually have poor support after the initial release. I’ve personally emailed Carenado with some minor issues when the C195 came out and they had it updated and fixed really quickly. I’m not trying to be a “fan boy” about them and give honest reviews about what they do and do not provide. But Carenado does not claim to be a full on study level with active failures and for some reason that is expected from them. Building a virtual hanger gets expensive quick! So I totally understand where you are coming from. I buy a lot of aircraft and enjoy most of them for what they are. If I had to pick 1-2 to spend money on it would be the FlySimWare Cessna 414, and the Black Square Bonanza/Baron. The free DC3 is also great.

​@@sprocketsimulations Overall, I tend to agree with you on Carenado's products. I don't own many of them, but I enjoy flying the V35 Bonanza, and the Seneca V recently got a major update that significantly improved the flight model. I think Carenado gets an overly bad rap while their planes actually perform close to book numbers with enough systems complexity to follow a real-world checklist with few limitations. How does the rudder behave on the PC-12? Do you need to adjust rudder trim after changing power settings? I noticed you had some right rudder trim set for takeoff, but when you reduced power after takeoff, I didn't see much movement in the ball.

Thanks! If you look through some of the other comments about it there is some different methods. I use a Logitech quadrant and you can click it into beta when landing so if I need to apply reverse thrust I can. Very rarely need to slow down that quickly though. Taxiing I leave it in beta then you can apply it on and off to slow you down. MSFS has an issue with ALL turboprops that let them taxi way too fast. Some developers have added work around with inaccurate drag to compensate for this but most leave it as is to make everything else feel right. Or just use your brakes. Again not accurate for IRL, but you aren’t burning up virtual brakes and it is a lot easier to control your speed with toe braking than going in and out of reverse thrust but it can be done to somewhat simulate it.

There has been quite a few recent comparisons by others on here testing the flight dynamics deference XP11/12 and MSFS. With the progress that Microsoft has made with their code and developers taking advantage of the new thermals and wind dynamics, along with developers making higher quality products it has always come out on top. Even from reviewers that wanted thought XP was going to be the clear winner. Turns out it’s not. That might change as XP grows but at the moment, from what I have seen it is not the case like it used to be.

Great video. I bought that Pc12 on marketplace is comes with a standard g350 but still got the issues with alt bug, reverse sounds. It's strange how it works good ie. The vs doesn't show I have to manual descent. Any ideas?

I’m not familiar with any of those bugs and took this for a few flights last week. It does seem that the FPS issue has returned for some flights and have that pinned at the top of the comments. The reverse sounds I’m guessing is a control mapping issue and you are coming into Beta. Can you tell me more about the alt and vs issue. You can see around 33:00 where I engage VS mode. My most recent flights everything worked as designed except the FPS drop after 2 hours or so.

I think one of the main problems is that the the pc12 simulation is not taking the sim environment into account. So the ITT seems to be on rails based off the PCL setting. This is very obvious as well during startup and the temperature curve is the same in freezing vs hot steamy weather.

Do any aircraft do this? The only thing that I have seen is ambient cabin temps for some aircraft. Definitely would be cool to have that feature.

@@sprocketsimulations I actually have to take that back. The simulation actually does take the ambient temperature into account. I just did a test and the temp peak is different on start if you change the weather. I am just not sure if it matches to what real world values as most videos I have watch with the PC12 in real life doesn't always sit on the yellow arc. Another thing I had questions about the accuracy is the amps. It seems to read wierd numbers at times.

oh also, do you have the paid version of the gtn750? im assuming i need the paid version to be able to input airways how you did?

I am not sure if the free version has airways or not. The one I am using is the paid version with a navigraph subscription as well.

I do like the PC12, it's just the Carenado bit that puts me off. Does it beat the stock TBM, hmmm, not sure ?

Specifically what do you mean by the “Carenado bit”. I can think of a lot of reasons this is better than the TBM. Like the static elements, functional shaker, sounds, more avionic options (especially the GTN750), and I think the PC12 is better looking but that is subjective. But besides saying “Carenado”. What are the reasons?

Why is the amperage/current flow always -40 or greater? Even with the engine at flight idle - large negative amp display

I know there was some overhead issues that were addressed in the last update, May 2023, and not sure if this has been looked at. I haven’t flown to verify. I believe IRL it should display the same info that you can see on the ESIS.

How did you get the GTN 650 to show as well. I can only see rye option to load the GTN 750

Well personally for me I play on the Xbox series s and I have been having memory leaks. for example, I can only fly for a certain amount of time before the interior starts lagging and it's only the interior the exterior it's fine and it still has another problem. When I press the main menu my game crashes overall its bad I can't wait for sim works to release their pc 12

awesome video, how to you get the fpl to show up in the avidyne, with the gtn pms i only get the departure and destination airport in there. it doesnot copy the whole route from the gtn

hmm not sure, are you making the flight plan in the GTN750 or making it in the world map. I have found it to be a little inconsistent when making changes enroute. For example it doesn't update my approach, but the rest shows up as a normal route with all waypoints. I typically do my route in the 750 while on external power so maybe that has something to do with it but I am not sure.

The EIS on this aircraft always bother me. My brain expects to see round gauges and those like 3/4 circle gauges always look cutoff to my brain, like there is more that is missing.

So would you wait for the SWS version or get this now? You ‘sell’ this well.

Hard to say since they have been bumping the release for over a year. Plus they have said that when it does release they will be using a EFB that has most features behind a paywall subscription. Also their latest release of the RV-10 forces you to uninstall the now default WTT garmin avionics. They came out with the Kodiak a lonnnng time back and it is good, but I can’t say I’ve been happy with their pricing, updates, and new aircraft. The hype for their PC-12 is high, but yet to be seen.

Still gets the FPS drop over 2hrs (in some parts of world), had it the other day. i did have avidyne on, and havent done the delete procedure. good WHEN it works, but best suits

No, to be honest, I never really found the purpose of modeling fuses unless they can actually randomly fail. Very few aircraft in this price range will have that functionality as they need their own failure system programmed into the aircraft. Typically those are going to be your PMDG price range. Sort of 40-70 USD.

One curious issue I am having is that this plane starts stuttering when I fly to airports on the east coast, but not on the west coast. Not sure what's happening there. I should say that it starts stuttering close to an east coast airport.

What airports and distance are you flying to on the east coast? Make sure it is up to date as well. Does it do it in any other aircraft? If you have any addons in your community folder, cut and paste them into a temp directory and see if that helps. If it does add one by one back to see if you can find the culprit. I fly a lot on the east coast. Especially from DCA up to PHL and BOS and haven’t had any issues.

@@sprocketsimulations The last time it happened was a flight from CYOO Oshawa Ontario, to KSNC Connecticut US. It starts happening as I descend. Incidentally I Flew from CYYC to KPDX. and had no stuttering.

I didn’t know is underrated aircraft I am playing it on xbox cloud with xbox elite controller and I can fly it easily. My father use it a lot on pc and can land it almost anywhere. Unfortunately the gns 750 is not on xbox. :)

When it was first release apparently it had some issues and is the lowest rated Carenado on the marketplace.

How did it behave during taxi? Realistic? or is it a crazy horse that just wants to run way from the airport.

It taxis fast but this is realistic if you watch IRL videos. Pilots recommendations are to put it into Beta while taxing to help keep it a little more under control but you do need to is the brakes to help control the speeds which is accurate.

@@sprocketsimulations That's the thing. There's not a sweetspot for taxi with this Carenado PC12. You either keep burning your brakes or you go in and out of beta because the beta decelerates and makes the plane go backwards real quick.

It is the same in all turboprops in MSFS. Unfortunately there is no axis assignment for it. I sort of “feather” my throttle lever in beta and it is a work around the limitations and works out fine and I do not come to a stop and can control the speed.

@@sprocketsimulations There's a trick I use with my HOTAS. I assign one of the throttle buttons to toggle the reverse, from that point every increment in throttle it's an increment in reverse thrust. Useful for every turboprop and jet when landing.

Make sure you have the latest version. This was about an hour and half flight and I had no issues at all. I have done multiple flights with zero issues so I would definitely not call it a bug. Try reinstalling or see if something in your community folder is conflicting.

You have something that is conflicting with something then. Multiple revisits and reviews have all said that the FPS drop has been fixed. Are you running any other addons? It is always best to start with an empty community folder and introduce them back in one at a time to try and replicate the issue. I run quite a lot though so not sure what is going on with yours. I’ve even used this aircraft for tubing graphics and log the data such as fps and GPU usage and it is super solid.

I’m also having that same problem. I contacted their support and they said they have been working on an update but they’ve been saying that for a while

I get the problem where there is a ridiculous amount of lag after half an hour of flying. So annoying and have been waiting for them to fix it for months.

Are you on Xbox? Someone’s else mentioned that Xbox series s has a problem. I can fly for hours and hours with zero frame issues. Most people have reported this fixed.

Strange as it definitely works fine for me. I think they mentioned that the update back in January they fixed performance issues. Try emptying your community folder and reinstalling the PC12 to see if anything is causing a conflict. Sorry you’re having issues, it’s tough for developers when they can’t replicate the issue.

@@sprocketsimulations I’ve managed to contact carenado support and they said there going to be releasing an update soon to fix many issues like the one I’m facing. It’s not the first time I’ve contacted about this issue and they’ve said the same excuse every time I have but this time it genuinely sounded like their close to releasing an update, there just waiting for Microsoft to publish it. Thank god for that

No this is the legacy.

Carenado is no longer the lowest quality on MSFS, just look at the default DC-3 🤣 One day it flies ok, the next it flips on take off.

I suggest you get the POH for the DC3 and lock the tailwheel when lineup with center of runway before takeoff. The plane is a lot of fun to fly and easy to maneuver.

Can I ask what you specifically feel is missing or not replicated with this version. Everything I demonstrate in the video worked as expected and even had the shaker/pusher to test and other functions that a lot of other aircraft leave as inop. The two things that are extremely minor to me are the fuel pump noise and the slide window.

@@sprocketsimulations Carenado produces a lot of mediocre aircraft. They are cheap and by no means premium. Premium planes are those whose production requires a team of developers who need several years to achieve a finished product. Note that the Pilatus PC12 is a turboprop aircraft, which is a jet engine that propels the Propeller through an eccentric shaft like in helicopters or Cheyenne, ATR or many Military cargo planes. And its Sound is not what Carenado presents. Only as a PMDG can it be considered a true premium aircraft. So much for Carenado.

I agree but, Carenadonis not claiming to be a PMDG level or study level aircraft. I look at them more like additional asobo aircraft. Are the as detailed with failures or additional functionality with complex procedures. No, not at all. They also are not 60-70USD. I’m not big into airliners but if I want that level of complexity I will fly the PMDG DC6 or the Constellation. Both of those you really need to be using their flight engineer to help, which is realistic, but I prefer to be fully in command. This PC-12 I would say is well done, advertised accurately, and priced accordingly.
