Carenado C182 RG with GTN 750 and using ATC Full Flight and review!

Ойындар

In this video we will hit 3 birds with one stone. This will be a full flight using the in game ATC (yes you can get it to actual work!), reviewing the NEW Carenado Cessna 182-RG II, and also going over some of the amazing features of the GTN750! Enjoy!

    Thanks! I also like old school navigation using radios and other land-based beacons. Like this VOR approach is super fun. The GTN750 just makes life easier when you still have steam gauges to use as well. Cheers~

    Excellent review!!! It would have been wonderful if Carenado installed a DME on the panel, since using the GTN750 you lose any distance information on the ground using the VOR. I hope that in the future Carenado will install a DME just like the Cessna-337 and other Carenado models.

  • @sprocketsimulations

    @sprocketsimulations

    I agree it is nice to see those old school red digital clock numbers but since Garmins are NAV1/VLOC it IS your DME. It will still allow you to tune any frequency and display all the time distance and speed just like the old school DMEs. If you are in VLOC it will be using radio frequencies vs the gps.

    Very nice review sir! Because I am a real live pilot of this aircraft (OO-FKV) I can say with knowledge that the performance of this Carenado creation is more than close to reality. It was once different. In real live the stall is not aggressive, at least not on my plane. Applying flaps 10 at IAS +/- 100kts gives a sudden big amaount of nose-up,...I didn't see it in the video. Also the gear not down horn at MAP

  • @sprocketsimulations

    @sprocketsimulations

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for all the info! I definitely thought that the stall was too aggressive and was shocked when it spun on me so quickly. This nose does apply a fairly noticeable nose up with flaps but I think I was still in AP and the sim corrects that very quickly in all aircraft. The horn horn stays on even after you lower the gear? I did notice I had to really work for the flair and will definitely try with flaps 20. I bet this will help with any sort of cross wind approach as well. I haven’t messed around with the W&B yet but will see how, if any, it changes. Thanks again and thanks for watching!

    Such a beautiful airplane, so detailed, just look at the wear and tear, love to fly the "Old Iron" And like "@anthonyobrain" I'm always flying "old school" but my interest is shifting towards the GTN750 ( In MSFS I only fly the DC-3, DC-6 and the Beechcraft D18) Guess I found another airplane to add to my hangar to do some low level sight-seeing flights using A/P i.c.w the GTN750. Thanks for the great tutorial. Happy flying and blue skies.

    After I bought a second C182RG on a second PC to try it and hours of research, pictures and videos this was there answer: „Thank you for your feedback, we are sending this to our dev area to be fixed for the next version of this aircraft.“ Nothing else! That has nothing to do with a good customer support.

    Yeah that is their generic reply for receiving any bug reports. Not an acknowledgement or that they can reproduce it. You can try to follow up but I wouldn’t hold your breath if they haven’t updated since June. I did try to slip it and while it isn’t extreme by any means, I still could. Interesting is that the rudder movement is more on the ground vs the air. It should definitely slip more aggressively but the overall I find this to be pretty minor in the grand scheme as like you said it flies/functions in all other situations. I imagine they are extremely busy getting ready for MSFS 2024 as they develop a lot of aircraft for Asobo.

    What has Carenado said about as their last update was June. Did they email you saying it won’t slip? When you say it won’t slip what does it do instead? I didn’t do a slip for landing but during take off it seemed to come out of the little slip it had correctly.

  • @sprocketsimulations

    You need to use minimal braking and that from nose wheel has a LOT of travel in its suspension. If you are using a button vs rudder pedals it will dip forward a significant amount and true to real life. If you are using pedals then use very minimal braking. Doesn’t take much to slow dow.

    I just took it for a test flight and it is working beautifully. Live weather out of KSBA, taxiing, takeoff, coordinating turns, landing, and taxing back. No issues what so ever. Check your sensitivities and if you have any other mods that might be interfering with it. It might also be you are trying to fly with too strong of a cross wind. I can remember many times IRL having to cancel lessons in a 172 due to crosswinds. These little planes need a LOT of rudder if there is any wind and also you have to fight it. Try keeping your ailerons pointed into the wind during taxi and takeoff and sort of easing them to keep you straight once in the air. Again, worked perfectly for me.

    Is this the O-540 Lycoming turbo? In terms off speed can it compare to the 182t with fixed landing gear. ?

  • @sprocketsimulations

    @sprocketsimulations

    Жыл бұрын

    This is the NA version. Both have 235hp and the benefit to the turbo was that it had more steady climb performance due to how the turbo. Other specs where almost the same. The T182T has 235 as well. The O-540 can produce a LOT more power but Cessna always kept it 235 to maintain the overall performance and fuel economy. It also means that servicing timeline are less than others. This is faster than the 182T due to the retractable landing gear and has a published cruise of about 160 vs 145 for the T182T. This version is one of the least produced Cessnas ever due to timing not due to the aircraft itself. It was built back in the 70's and by the 80's GA aircraft slumped and production stopped. The T182T was early 2000's to about 2013 I think. They are supposed to restart production of the T182T this year though.

    That is indicated airspeed (KAIS). Your true airspeed (KTAS) would be much much higher and is what is used for specs and performance chats. I demonstrate how to use your airspeed indicator to see you’re actual true airspeed. You can also use the garmin 530 or 750 to show it. Make sure you are adjusting your mixture as you climb.
