After our incredible day with the Howard family at Hurts Donuts in Bettendorf, Iowa (you can check out that video here: • DISCLAIMER | SHE DIDN’... ), we headed to a Walmart for the night. Corey shares some of our best tips for when overnighting in a Walmart parking lot and gets a surprising answer from the girls about how they would rather travel on drive days!
We headed to South Dakota on our way to meet Jess’ parents at Mount Rushmore and stopped for an overnight at a local fairground in Sioux Falls: W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. We love staying at fairground campgrounds, because there is always something to see, and they usually have full hookups or at least water and electric for less than local private campgrounds.
The fairgrounds were also super close to Sioux Falls Park, so before checking out, we drove over to see the falls. The girls were ready to be underwhelmed, but we were all pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the falls and the park were. The walkways were stunning, and there were so many places to explore.
We even climped up to the top of the tower for the drone view! As with so many other places we visit, it wasn't just the beauty of a location, but the incredible history there that won us over.
Remember that a quick stop to see something is always better than skipping it! We are so glad we took the time to check out the falls!
Stay tuned for next week as we head to Mount Rushmore! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new video!

Thank you so much for filming Sioux Falls my Hometown. Made me cry... Happy tears. My husband and I were both born in South Dakota. I lived in Sioux Falls and we got married in Sioux Falls. That was 62 years ago yesterday. Now we live in Missouri. Always love your videos. God bless you all. Much love❤❤❤❤

Darn, I missed you guys. I live just 17 miles south in Small Town SD. Fun fact, just 1/2 mile west from where you parked the camper, is a tunnel blasted through the rock that connects the 2 quarries together. You might have driven over the tunnel not even knowing it was there. Speaking of history from falls park, south on Phillips ave is the old downtown. Also from 6th and Phillips turn west up the cobblestone street, and your in the Historical District of Sioux Falls. Most of those houses were also built from the rock at said quarry.

Beautiful Falls and the history behind the mill was very interesting. A different way of life back then for sure. I agree with Corey on having the prisoners carry the bricks to built their own prison. Need to have more of that now, then maybe people would think twice before they do very stupid things. Take care!

I want my truck camper to have 1080ah lithium with 960 watts of solar. That should allow me to boondock and run A/C for 5 hrs, and still be fully charged before dark. ( They don’t call me the “Boondocktor- PHD in living free” for nothing! Great video!

Speaking of falls, if you haven't done it yet, can I recommend The Gorge hike at Watkins Glen State Park in New York? We did it a few weeks back and it's 100% the most beautiful falls hike we have ever taken. WOW!! Such a beautiful park! Please never apologize for any of your content. I am with Cory, I do not like cities at all, I avoid them at all cost!!! I prefer the small towns with their history, little known historical facts, and especially all the natural beauty and historic buildings. For me, as a native "Desert Rat", I love anything that has trees, flowers, WATER, green fields, WATER, beaches, forests, WATER, and wildlife!!! Did I mention "WATER"? I can't get over how the rock & all the grass have their own areas, but I guess the people probably cleared the rock to be able to grow the grass & create the layout for the walking paths. I'm going to have to look up to see what kind of rock that is. Your videos encourage me to look up information about the areas you visit, so it is kind of like I am getting my dreams fulfilled too. For those of us that don't have the money, health, or youth to be able to travel and fulfill our dreams, you allow us to live our dreams through you. My dream is still to go to Alaska and catch a bunch of fish, crab, and shrimp, but especially a huge halibut (I would have to have someone help me reel it in). LOL! May God continue to Bless and Protect you all on your journeys.
