I personally believe it's not a sin to be anxious, but God doesn't want us to worry because He doesn't like to see us in that uncomfortable panicked state. Like a parent to their kid, they don't want to see them hurt.

Is it always a sin to be worried or afraid? Because I think in most cases fear and worry is just a natural emotion. Say it was the middle of the night, and you’re peacefully sleeping, but then suddenly you hear a window shatter and an intruder has intruded your house. Or say you were hiking in the mountains, and a big bear begins to approach you. In situations like this, would you not naturally feel afraid or worried? Yes, I think fear and worry can lead to sin, but is it always a sin though?

What if anxiety and depression and not effectively being able to pin point how and why, is all you’ve ever known? There’s not been a day where I haven’t worried what it is that is in me that’s tormenting me. Is it related intellectually? Am I deficient? Why is it that I lack in performance of practically anything, from social skills, to comprehension skills, to feeling out of touch with reality (zoning out in front of people, lack of adapting). I do have a relationship with Jesus, the gospel is my only peace of mind but I’d like to maneuver much easier in life and not be overwhelmed with so much anxiety

I'd say all that makes you fairly honest and about normal. Just keep doing your best to trust and obey Jesus, and marvel in God's providence. Thank Him. Focus on helping others even in little ways and you'll be surprised how your perceived shortcomings rather diminish and evaporate. God uses people with humility and shortcomings, all the time.

To worry is not a sin, to accuse God or blaming God for things others did wrong against you is a sin. One day a person was worshipping and remembered the hardships he and his mother had to go through after his parents were divorced due to sorcery., And he said during prayer, I know you never punish anyone unless they are guilty in your eyes. May I know what wrong me and my mother did that you punished us this way, so that we may never do it again. And God said to him, I did not do anything, ask your mother, from the day you were born her life changed for better. He felt happy and glad, that God was not angry on them and nor God had punished them. Instead comforted him that since he grieved remembering the hardships he and his mother had to go through to let him know that is was after he was born her life changed for better. He bowed down, and apologized for thinking it to be His punishment and thanked Him. Went out of his bedroom becuase he never liked being disturbed or distracted by anything during worship and loved to worship alone. And asked his mother when did your life change, his mother said it was after you were born before it I had only difficulties and struggles. That is how God is, kind and loving. Unless you are told by God do not think hardships of life was given by God. Or else you may end up blaming God for evils of others. Which becomes a sin, and for that prophet Ayub got scoldings from God. Amen.

I do not know you sir, but I am finding this talk such a blessing. It is very hard not to obsessively worry, my poor son is trapped in Ghana, I miss him so, and they say I am dying. Will I be here still when he finally makes it home? I think so. But he and I pray together that we both keep going and that we can do the Father’s will, he writes such beautiful prayers for me, always reminding me the joy of the Lord is my strength, renewed like the eagles! And I was also raised by an obsessive compulsive paranoid mother, poor woman, and saw first hand how anxiety can become such a sickness. I have to be careful to keep God in the Center Throne of my heart, if you will, put my trust in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (doesn’t just writing that just fill you with smiles?) and not be too dependent on or too worried about my son. Thank you for all you have said here. I would like to hear more of them, but please, tell me now if you harbor any racism or hate, and I will not be seen on your channel again.

What is you opinion on birth control. I am starting to feel so conflicted about the idea of birth control. One, because it causes mood changes and two because it has messed up the ideas of what is acceptable and what is not. When taking birth control, it makes it sooooooo much easier to have sex outside of marriage. It makes it so much easier to jump into bed and create an emotional bond without even considering the future or consequences. It also allows both partners to feel safe knowing no children will be born. Which in turn, makes it easier for someone to be with you and not be committed to the relationship with you. ALSO, WHY ARE WOMEN the ones pressured towards medication that controls hormones to supress pregnancy. SOOOO many ways to be with someone without intercourse. I feel like society is lazy in a way and has forgotten the gift of life. And how sacred a bond is between a husband and wife. And what the true meaning of marriage is. Please create a vidoe about this controversy.

How would you address this in the realm of Scrupulosity? It's a horrendous torture to deal with existential anxieties where the Scripture gives no clear answers. When you enter into certain parts of the bible, it can be easy for people with any number of issues to feel anxiety. It gets worse when you really do seek god to no avail and the church just can't help your issues. I think when I was a christian, I was the kid who asked his father for a fish and He actually did give me a serpent. There is no sin whatsoever in anxiety that is out of someone's control. Most are never fully cured and have to struggle till death carrying an invisible cross. I know that in the end, God didn't show and I've learned to deal with it better after abandoning christianity. My Scruples have eased, but I guess I can thank the lord for my occasional anxieties about roasting in hell forever. It's the gift that keeps on giving. A person doesn't have to die to be in hell. They can be there and in the front pew on Easter at the same time.

That all depends on any given specific circumstance. I knew someone who was angry from the age of being an infant until he was 42 year old. His pastors told him that the anger was a choice, but it turned out to be a generational curse that only Jesus could remove after my friends entire family as DEAD! It as a parallel to the Israelites being in bondage and only experiencing freedom AFTER the older generation died off before they were allowed to enter into the promised land.

There is a point to my rambling here: I was a luke warm Presbyterian for 49 years. COMPLETELY on my own volition I became a Roman Catholic as is my wife and the way we raised our kids - 100% Catholic schooled. That wa 10 years ago. Of course they were happy I converted. About 3 years ago my son suggested we go to a Traditional Roman Catholic Church for a Latin Mass. INSTANTLY and IRREVOCABLY THE ENTIRE CHRISTIAN FATIH FINALLY MADE SENSE. The Majesterium, the Saints, the Fathers of the Church et alia, were right - 2,000 YEARS and counting. WARNING: The High Latin Mass is compelling. You go there to BEG for your salvation. I am now a TRADITIONAL Roman Catholic. I can never be anything else.

It seem to be always the Presbytarian who converted to Catholicism. I am a former Catholic and still respect this Church a lot contrary to a lot of Protestant, having said that, I learned a lot more from the Bible and being a great Christian being a Protestant Baptist than being a Catholic. We have the same Jesus and that is the bottom line, there is flawless on both side.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but there are major differences between the Jesus of Catholicism and the Jesus of the Bible. The Jesus of Catholicism needs to be convinced to show mercy towards man by his mother Mary, but the Jesus of the Bible is merciful not because he needs to be convinced but because it is vital to his character. The Jesus of Catholicism is subject to the power of the Priest or Bishop in order to be drawn into the bread and wine in accordance with the Eucharist, whereas the Biblical Jesus is only under the authority of the Father. The Jesus of Catholicism cannot be approached, necessitating prayer to saints and confessions made through priests. However the Jesus of the Bible encourages prayer in order to build a personal relationship with Him and the other members of the Godhead. Finally, the Jesus of Catholicism died a death that was ineffective in cleansing men of sins, a death that needs to be supplemented by the adherence to the sacraments and by time spent in purgatory to purify men of their remaining sins. The Jesus of the Bible, however, died and rose again that all the sins that a man commits may be washed away, a sacrifice that is completely and fully sufficient for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus’s death does not and cannot be supplemented with or replaced by anything, whether it be sacraments, purgatory, works or otherwise.

I definitely agree that sin will often cause anxiety. But I disagree that it is always caused by sin. When spontaneously in pregnancy or just after birth have clinical anxiety come over them, is that caused by sin. During my pregnancy with my son, I was not consciously lacking trust in God, was not actively trying to take control of anything, etc, but started having very intrusive type dreams of my son dying or being hurt and anxiety started to creep in. It was definitely chemical driven. It continued a little after birth but thankfully dissipated. But then after weaning him at 1 yr, post partum depression hit hard. Again, a chemical change in my body triggered it. Just sharing so that hopefully you can have a broader perspective and grow compassion toward others.

The first few words are your answer: Are we able to turn off ordinary human negative feelings? Even Trump wouldn't buy that one. Jesus was anxious in the Garden of Gethsemane. Anger was appropriate and not sinful when Jesus cleansed the temple. You may find some answers in the Bible, but God gave you intelligent minds as well, and expects you to use them.
