Just to be in the presence of God is beyond words. Nothing compares to His radiant majesty, it is the maximum gift, and were we to experience this right now we would all fall flat on our faces in sheer amazement. yet He gives more: the crown of Life, Glory, Honor and Peace. Our small minds cannot even begin to comprehend what we will experience when we go to Him: our reward is infinite because He is infinite.

I think the reason God didn’t go into great detail in regards to rewards in Heaven was because He doesn’t want us focusing on getting rewards- our obligation is to love, yearn for, worship, and obey Jesus Christ. The works will flow naturally from that. EDIT: the finale sentence of this post used to be “Salvation is by faith and works”- this is not only wrong, it’s a false gospel and heresy. I don’t know why on earth I ever said that because I’ve never believed it, so I have to assume I meant to say something else and very, VERY poorly worded the final thought.

Hi Dr. Wellum. Thank you firstly for even trying to engage with a topic like this, it's becoming rarer. However, I have to agree with some of the comments that the question wasn't answered correctly (I'm mainly talking about rewards in Heaven for my part). It's like you're trying to make sure we know we're all getting the reward of Christ Himself, so it doesn't matter what other reward may or may not be given. The question though isn't 'are there rewards in Heaven?', and the very title indirectly asserts that yes, we know we are getting rewards in Heaven (because of Christ and His work), but are there varying degrees of reward? You say it's wrong to 'do' things so we can be 'closer to the throne of Christ', or 'get a better mansion' etc etc Please note Christ Himself tells us to store up treasures in Heaven. Paul talks about obtaining a better resurrection through the labours he does on earth, and he sought to gain material gifts from the Church so that their 'Heavenly account' is benefitted due to their good work. Christ Himself, again in Matthew 5 says that we are blessed when we are reviled and persecuted, and that we should be exceedingly glad, because great is our reward in Heaven (if we endure whilst suffering for His name). If 'reward' is generic and universal for all, then distinctions like this wouldn't be made by Christ or any writer of Scripture as it wouldn't be accurate. I won't go on with more and more passages as everyone knows the others, but in saying what you have in this video, you are (not deliberately I have to add) cutting the some of the motivation and incentive to get up and do good every day of our lives. In a world where we are drawn to earthly riches, comfort and pleasures, our Lord tells us to set our eyes above, to labour, knowing our labour is not in vain (I Cor 15), and when Christ comes, He says His reward is coming with Him. It's not wrong to desire Heavenly things, as you rightly said, no matter the difference in reward or glory at the resurrection (I Cor 15), we won't be jealous, or full of envy - as we have Christ, the greatest Reward by far. But as Scripture says, the fruit that we bear, the labour that we do, will be tested by fire, if it endures we'll receive a reward, but if it's burnt up we'll suffer loss but we ourselves will still be saved. Our fruit will follow us for all eternity. Sorry for the long message, you know how it goes - passion! And sorry for not quoting everything with Scripture, I'm freestyling. Thank you Lord for this ministry, and please, please continue to bless it and the men you've chosen, for Your glory alone. Amen

Congrats with intellectual reply( rare this days). I agree with Dr. Wellum and your comment but there is a large enough diversity that an example may help. A breast feeding mother of a new born baby. Does she wake every couple of hours to feed the baby out of love or duty. The first couple of months lacking R.E.M sleep, the stresses, the illnesses, the teething and numerous other responsibilities is it love or storing up teasures? We know it's love because motherhood is the most thankless and under appreciated jobs ever. If it is a thing of duty 'she' may expect rewards, promotions, or special considerations but that would be taking focus away from a triune God who deserves all our attention in this life or the next. As your comment as storing up treasures, the book of Hebrews tells us to run the race. If you ran a race in that society(early Olympics) it was to win first place. Only first place won the Lurual wreath(crown). My focus is on winning the race not neccesarly the crown.

Indeed, that was excellent commentary , you made there. I don't really have anything to add except : Paul also talks about the various " crowns of righteousness ...." Etc. So again, clearly there seems to be distinct rewards / leadership roles ( along with Salvation ), at the final judgment. And like wise , various degrees of punishment, for those in Hell. ( Although any degree of punishment in Hell, I don't even want to contemplate !)

I think that while everyone in heaven will be completely filled with joy, some will have a greater capacity for joy than others. Take a gallon milk jug and a 12 oz. glass. You can fill both to the rim with milk, but the jug will hold much more. I've heard it described like two people going to see a symphony. One is a casual listener, the other a classical musician who has spent his life studying music. Both enjoy the concert thoroughly; but the musician gets much more out of it than the casual listener. That being said, there is really nothing in scripture to back this up, so I offer it only as a possibility.

The reason there is so much confusion on this subject is because of the misunderstanding of the word kingdom. The kingdom is simply the “kings” “dominion”, not Heaven. Heaven is a place, whereas the kingdom is a not a place but a position of authority (i.e. the rule and reign with Jesus Christ). All believers of the body of Christ, the church will enter heaven, but not all will enter the kingdom of God/Heaven. Entering heaven is unconditional (grace plus faith) whereas entering the kingdom is conditional (grace plus faith plus works). The former cannot be lost or forfeited, while the latter can be.

There are several instances of Jesus speaking the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, where he does hint at levels of reward and punishment. I'll give an example for each: Levels of rewards in Matthew 5:19: "So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. " Obviously, I recommend reading at least the whole chapter to get the context in which these words were said, but here, Jesus was talking about the laws of the OT. He was referring to them as timeless, though he came to fulfill them. Albeit not tangible, there certainly is a sense of levels of appreciation of people in Heaven. Levels of punishments in Luke 12:47 - 48: "That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows. But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows." Here Jesus was talking about the coming back of the Master (himself) to his Servants (us) who should (have) be(en) waiting. Here he was referring specifically to the servants who grew impatient and acted immorally to other servants. It seems obvious that those who know God and his plan but still live immorally will be punished more than those who don't know God and his plan.

Rewards are a by product to living according to the word of God. It's true there will be reward according to our life in this earth. Just as in a company we have people with different salaries. But the employees work in tandem for the betterment of the company. The same would be in heaven. Whatever it is we would be in the presence of the Lord. Now to those who boast here on earth that they would recieve greater reward in heaven are decieving themselves. Don't be Holy because you'll get greater reward. Be Holy as He is Holy. Some might have their sight onn reward in heaven already but such ones are still carnal minded.

There are 3 types of believers : True believers Believe in Forgiveness and Punishments of God and refrain from something knowing God does not like. Blind believers : Believe that God is forgiving and never care to live a righteous life, could live a too casual life or unsober life. And become victims of their casual ways of living if they continue living that way till their end of life. Yet, many have better chances to change at certain stage of life, before or after marriage, some may change after child birth. But those who never feel it to be important to change are victims of their own belief and realise in the grave the kind of punishments they suffer. Punishments starts by feeling the pain of being eaten alive by the worms , their body is dead but soul is kept within the dead body to experience the punishments , they shout, scream , yell no one can hear them and nor the can come out of grave to tell about punishment. Non believers : yet believe in existence pretend not to, becuase they life life against will of God and think, world is full of like minded people and they life a life better than others with all luxuries, care free life eat, drink, live any how but do miss importance of family at old age regret but continue living anyways. For some bloodshed is normal, for some betraying is profitable, for some doing evil in the name of religion , for some stealing for some extortion. And crimes of all kinds and sins of all kinds. Hence , ways of worship are different too. Some do good for blessings of God. Some do it, for heaven. Some do it to show how religious they are. Out of such some do against religion. Some do it for the joy of heart it brings doing good (These are the dearest to God) Then the way they do are different. Dearest to God is the goodness you do with money earned righteously. Some do evil against 100, and do good for 25 people. In this case 100 people they cheated or caused loss. They will bear the burden of 100. The 25 people they did good for, using other's money they looted or cheated, that money and goodness will be of those among 100 who's money was looted. The goodness on the person for having done for 25 will be of the intention of doing good of 25. Punishments differ too. Some get killed by humans in form of other being like a fish, hen, or goat etc. Some are killed by wild animals in the forest. Some as animal would see their own cub (Child) being killed in front of their eyes they would try to save, struggle, and weep and wail and return in grief after failing to save. Some will experience hell fire. Hell fire , are of two kinds eternal and the other for a long time. Mostly eternal hell is for those who do evil against religion , kill others betray the meaning of their religion and result into religious killings. Se will be given human forms with various deseases from birth. Those who earn money and take pride in doing evil and earn by sleeping with other men and make a fun and laughs listening to religious views get boils covering their entire body from birth. And many similar punishment for beating anyone cruelly you may not get hands and feet. Yes there exists forgiveness too. But forgiveness is for minor sins. For example when you do not listen to parents for your own good, or you took intoxicants, or went to pubs or may have done something wrong in terms of your ways of living a life has Forgiveness. But anything intentionally you do against anyone else like hurting, harming, oppressing, harassing, emotionally of physically , even if it be cheating a female in the name of love or marriage, or being disloyal to your wife, removing parents out of your house , or making them feel dependent on you by taking their riches or property in your own name. Or not caring for your parents during their age. Being away from your parents ignoring them or keeping them at distance from you. Such things do not have Forgiveness. God never forgives these sins. Nor he forgives those who cause loss of any kind to someone for their own benefits. And those who rejoice over the hurt , pain or grief of others. Amen.

I always think that when we are saved to eternal life, that doesn't mean we don't get punished for our sins. We may not get the ultimate punishment of hell, but we get some sort of punishment. The Catholics think it's in purgatory. I wonder if we get it in this life, the next life, or some of both. Some horrible things have happened to me that seemed absolutely appropriate to the sin I committed. Of course I can only speculate about this. I don't imply that all suffering is punishment for sin, no. Certainly the story of Job proves that. But maybe some of our earthly suffering is in fact part of our punishment. As far as reward in heaven, I choose to not speculate on it, just wait and see. Works should be born of faith and love, not undertaken to earn a bigger reward.

-The bible is clear about how one responds to the gospel would correlate to the rewards in heaven. Read Matthew 25: 14-28, the parable of the bags of gold. -Our salvation is pure grace, no doubt. [According to John 1:12, Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.] We could picture that every Christian is a child of God. But there are differences between obedient children and rebellious ones. And that's where the eternal reward comes in through judgment day. -Judgement for God's children: [In 1 John 4:16b-17: God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world, we are like Jesus.] Everyone will face judgment, but who will be confident by then? Those repent and obey father's heart. On the other hand, you can be Father's child but not confident because you know you did not obey Him. You are still his child, but you also know He is just and know all our thoughts and minds. -How to live according to God's will and be obedient: If we truly believe the gospel, that Jesus humbled himself, scorned, tortured, betrayed, eventually died, all because He loves us and don't want us to stay in sin and death, we WILL have true repentence, humble ourselves just like Jesus did, and obey Father's will. It is a natural response to our heavenly father's sacrificial love. Love always comes with costs. And that is denying ourselves and let God be God. But don't be afraid, for you are not alone. Holy Spirit is ready to guide you and help you live according to Father's will. Hope all this makes sense!

It is ok to want a good reward in heaven. The disciples asked Jesus who will be greatest i heaven? Clearly they wanted to ascend to high rank. He did not criticize them but answered them. In revelation it is said that they all stood before Him great and small and each was judged according to what they had done.

The goal of our calling (born again/justification) is to qualify (at the judgement seat of Christ) to receive a glorified body and reign and rule with Christ during the millennium (eternal life/inheritance). This inheritance is based on sanctification (soul salvation) per Acts 20.32/26.18 and is a result of our cooperation with the Holy Spirit in the growth of the faith per 1 Pt 1.9. The ultimate reward per parables in Mt. is the faithful servant /bride of Christ described in Ephesians/Colossians. The loss of rewards results in being rejected from the KOG and loss of the glorified body for 1000 years followed by the resurrection to a glorified body per 1 Cor 15.51/52. This is the 2nd death (to perish) and causes gnashing and wailing of teeth for remorse in loss of the kingdom. So work out your salvation with fear (JSOC) and trembling, run the race, have grace to serve God effectively with reverence and Godly fear because our God is a consuming fire. Christ in me the HOPE of glory (a glorified body).

The Catholic Church teaches that those who done the most good will receive the greatest rewards in Heaven and that those who have more evil than others will receive a more severe punishment. In particular, people who have received the greater graces, but have been unfaithful to those graces, will get the worse punishments. Bad priests and bishops will receive the worst punishments of all.

Catholics aren’t Christian though, so how does that work? I’m being serious. They have added books in their Bible, they confess to men not Christ, the pope can change anything he wants to without question. From my understanding and the Catholic people I know which are legion (and lovely people!) they don’t consider themselves Christians but Catholics.

But regardless, to answer your objections: 1.The deuterocanonical books were not added by Catholics but removed by protestants. They were a part of the septuagint, used by the first century church and by Christ himself. 2. Confession is biblical, read John 20:23 3. what if you get a kinda small room to live in and that would be your reward while others roam outside and can fly and more. That you should be glad its not hell so the room is enough because you did not earn more than that? But at the same time, will you go around in the room with regrets? How is that heaven? and if you cant regret in heaven because its impossible in that place, then being in a room will be perfectly fine even if you know the ones outside is having it better but you wont sit there being envious about it. So it wont matter at all that you are in a room. But then again if that is so, then why even have different levels of it if i dont even care because i cant have negative feelings there?

I strongly disagree. Jesus said to store up treasure in heaven. Matthew 6:19-21. Treasures are rewards for service and work for Christ. That is very clear in many other scripture passages as well. Salvation is a free gift through faith, so works are not a way to get a reward of salvation, but a way to earn extra rewards in heaven. The Lord is just in giving extra rewards for those who do more work and service than others. Yes, some will have more rewards, but still there will be no envy in heaven, nor feelings of being better than others. Also, clearly there will be more punishment of some of the lost than others. Should Hitler get the same punishment as others, or others the same punishment as Hitler? No way! God is just and must had out sentences on Judgement day according to their works, which God says in scripture over and over. So yes, there are degrees of reward in heaven and degrees of punishment in hell, because God is Just and Righteous and fair.

There are 5 crowns to be awarded to the overcomers. We must compete for the mastery of obeying the law. 2 timothy: 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV) I Never Knew You 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’.

And it is this prophet messenger who establishes some apostles, some church prophets, some evangelists and some teachers according to Ephesians 4:11. 2 Chronicles 20:20 says to confide in the prophets and Amos 3:7 says that it is to the prophet that God reveals His secrets. "Are there degrees of rewards and punishment in heaven and hell?" (Sorry for the VERY long" comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be espoused) Hmmmm...Before we get to Heaven and hell; let us talk about punishments and blessings while ON earth: Let's see: Leviticus 26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury ("wrath"); and I, even I, will chastise ("punish" is a better translation when it comes to the English language) you seven times for your sins. (And sometimes 70 times. Oh indeed). IE... ...Jesus (who is Almighty God) punished King Nebuchadnezzar 7 yrs for his sins; while at the same time Jesus was punishing the "Judahites" 70 yrs; for their "Abominable Sins" over Centuries. Jesus also punished Achan unmercifully for his disobeying Jesus' command, "NOT to take any 'spoils' from the Battle of Jericho". He also punished King Zedekiah unmercifully; when He let King Nebuchadnezzar slay every child of King Zedekiah, right in front of his eyes. Plus, King Nebuchadnezzar then gouged out Zedekiah's eyes with burning coals; because of the myriad times Jesus warned him of his sins; over many years! I said all the above, to say that I believe that ALL punishments (EXCEPT for one); are done while in the flesh on planet earth. The exception is the "Unpardonable Sin"; AKA, "Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit". Which is: ANY person saying "NO!" until death; when the "Holy Spirit" tries (which he does often) to give them a FREE Heavenly "Gift" of Everlasting Life. And that punishment is: to be cast into the "Burning Lake of Fire" (hell). Whether there are any different punishments in hell, I have NO idea. So much for punishments: Now, while on earth: Jesus blesses EVERY person; who will have done "Good" deeds; at least 10 folds; or any number above; based on how good the deed was. Oh yes. Thus there is NO need to have ANY one in Heaven having more or less; than what ANY other person has. Here's the proof I believe... ...Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that Jesus is no respecter of persons: And...Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with Jesus. Thus, could I be wrong? ABSOLUTELY Yes! But then, every other person could be wrong TOO! I rest my case... ...In any case, Please Pray and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

The word' hell' is nowhere found in the scripture. The WORD in the scripture is :" Gehenna". Gehenna was the Jerusalem rubbish dump. In Yahshua's day they had perfect understanding of what Yahshua was saying. In Yahshua's day the sinners were NEVER buried, The sinners were cast over the wall into Gehenna, Where the worm does not die and the fire is not quenshed. Gehenna was kept burning 24/ 7. Everything that was cast into Gehenna was turned to ASHES. Rev. 20: 14- 15 is Gehenna. The lake of Fire is in the exact SAME place as Gehenna was 2,000 years ago. Outside the walls of Jerusalem. The Kidron valley. On The LAST day all the sinners will be cast into Gehenna ( The Lake of fire ) and will be turned to ASHES. This is LOVE. 1 John 4: 7- 8. The christians CHANGED the words in the scripture. This alone shows that the christians are NOT from Yahweh. The christians LIE. This shows that the christians are liars and are of their father the devil. So it is written. To believe in a place called 'hell' you have to reject all these plain and simple scriptures written for those who will become as little children. I say Again:" Yahweh is LOVE." 1 John 4; 7- 8. Only a sadistic god would have a place of torment called ' hell.' Yahweh is LOVE. Yahweh will show more LOVE on Judgement day than any day since creation when He casts all the sinners into the Lake of fire and they are turned to ASHES. Rev. 20: 7- 15. Body, soul, spirit and breath to ASHES instantly. This is LOVE. HELL " does not exist, HELL has never existed and HELL will never exist. Yahweh is LOVE. 1 John 4: 7- 8. On the LAST day Yahweh will cast all the sinners into the LAKE of Fire and the sinners will be turned to ASHES instantly, NO Pain, NO suffering, OUT of existence instantly. This is LOVE. Rev. 20: 7- 15. John 6: 39, 40, 44, 53 and 54. The last day. The fate of Satan is clearly described in the scripture. Yahweh WILL bring a FIRE from the midst of Satan and Yahweh's FIRE will DEVOUR Satan and turn Satan to ASHES and Satan will be NO MORE FOREVER. Ezekiel 28: 18- 19. ALL who sin will be turned to ASHES on the LAST Day and will be NO MORE FOREVER. So says Yahweh. Rom. 11: 11- 33. Yahweh's ONLY WAY to salvation. May Yahweh give you your hearts desire. bless you

Sin seperates us from God. Your soul pre-existed, Ecc 12:7 it returns to God after the body dies. It comes 'from above' when we are born again. Critical thought required… is that heaven? Yes. Where is Satan bound up now? (Heaven). Lazerous and the rich man in paradise, were they in Heaven or hell? (Paradise is heaven with the gulf or schizm. They are in the same house but different rooms, so speak) Does hell exist? Yes and no. All souls will go to heaven, and be assured in the New Heaven and earth after it's cleansing by fire neither will have the foul stench that sin was there at all. The first sin happened in heaven and led to satan's fall(to earth specifically the garden of eden). Seperation. Adam was created, seperated from God. Hell is the destiny for some souls after the great white throne judgement. Seperation! God loves but abhors sin. Tarterus (Gk.), the abyss, also all the beast that come out of the sea and consequences and end results should be looked at a lot deeper for better growth.
