This guy did a great job answering this question. Gave different reasons why people may interpret scripture than others and gave scripture to encourage people in seeking God for answers in their life. For any of you saying he didn’t answer this well or he side stepped the question, you obviously need to open your ears and listen to/watch this video again. Great job Southern Seminary!

There are unintentional contradictions, especially in English translations. Proof, is, Christianity is not under one roof. I have noticed, the contradictions, are between persons, not the basic love letter.

The REASON for many MISINTERPRETATIONS is because MANY have superimposed their OWN limited finite thinking onto God's PERFECT word. CHRISTIANITY is NO an exercise in intellectual development. That is a fundamental mistake.1 Corinthians 2:12-14 (RSV)12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit.[a]14 The unspiritual[b] man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

2:44 God is a loving Father, Amen!! That is why he gave us a Church which is the pillar and bulwark of truth which can guide us into all Truth. When you turn away from the Church, that God himself established, you can interpret the Bible any way you want and by what authority do you have to say they are wrong?

Apostle Paul, charismatic leader, Roman citizen, expert lawyer tried to reconcile why he, wretched sinner, zealous persecutor of Christians, received so much grace, filled with Holy Spirit could work wonders, The expert Pharisee argued long and hard and well. but his " works-faith " definition in Ronans 3.28 was so misinterpreted it led to the crescendo of challenges and scores of denominations, some sporting Swastikas, many think that is a good thing, Apostle Peter would lament at the misinterpretation.

It's no wonder if someone approaches the Bible with the presupposition that it is the word of God that they come to the conclusion it is the word of God. [Just using his argument back on him.]

Somehow I would like to talk with him confidentially under 4 eyes..... And confront him in THAT setting with what I KNOW, WHY I know it and what he REALLY has to say about that because he will only in such a confidential setting ever be real with me, here he will always remain within the bandwith of official Southern Seminary Doctrines which honestly don't interest me.....Too much at risk so to say as that he could afford to be real but may be in such a setting it could work.....just my intuition...

I listened to the full video and Im being honest. This speaker did not give a straight answer. I understand sometimes it's necessary to give a parable but the verse in Romans has no relevance to the question. Furthermore sugar coating the answer with "God will help you!" Is not helpful as this is not a error from God's end but rather the Christians for not preserving their book in the text (so the language in which) it was revealed in. The message can be lost in translation especially if it's more than one language.

Okay people, so think about it for a second instead of harsh judgment. Clearly he did answer the question that was GIVEN to him. His question he was answering is “why cant Christians agree on the Bible?”. BUT he did also did answer the question. He isnt talking about interpretation/translations like a Bible translation. But instead on interpretation of difficult texts (hermeneutics)

it is the same in every discipline.....maybe incomplete information...maybe wishful thinking, but it is....par, for the course....

Because we all accept god’s grace at different levels. Most are only willing to be barley saved and won’t accept any holiness a few go on to to receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongue’s and a select few accept all of the great grace of god and go on to perfection.

Were the answers really that honest !!? For example when did Jesus teach "us" about asking for a fish etc. ? What I mean is that Jesus was ministering to the circumcision exclusively during his earthly ministry(other than a small amount of exceptions maybe) .. eg the woman who kept barracking him and finally, having ignored her m explained to her that it wasn't meet to give the chidrens bread to the dogs !!! Would it be true that if a mon gentile like myself and this gentleman on the vide could time warp and be in his audience we would have been "dogs" ... and he wasn't going to address us at all !!! Therefore how come then, that the claim is that Jesus taught "us" about the fish etc etc. !!?

3:50 Former Christian here. This is a pretty fair question. However, the reality is that most people are not going to be Bible scholars. I am no scholar myself, but I did what I could for several years. I am still not convinced that the Bible is the inerrant and complete Word of God. I am however convinced that it was written by human beings. Sure, we can draw inspiration from some parts of it. But it remains a collection of man-made documents. I don't think you necessarily need the Bible to find God or decency. Of course, I know that this is nothing but satanic blasphemy by evangelical standards.

But what is God?

Most modern evangelical Christians force the scripture to fit into one of two man-made systems of interpretation. Reformed Covenant Theology is about 400 years old, and Dispensational Theology is less than 200 years old. Southern Seminary now uses the first of the above. The 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith claims the ten commandments were given to Adam in the garden, even though Paul says in Galatians 3:16-29 the law was "added" 430 years "after" the promise was made to Abraham "until" the seed (Christ) could come to whom the promise was made. Who would Adam have committed adultery with, since Eve was the only woman alive? How could Adam honor his mother, since he had none? The confession also claims we are still under the 4th commandment, even though Paul says otherwise in Colossians 2:16-17. You cannot keep the Sinai sabbath on the wrong day of the week, at the wrong time of day, by doing only some work. Christ is our Sabbath rest every day of the week. Much of this confusion comes from an ignorance, or denial, of the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34. .

People honestly don't have to add or take away anything. Theres just a lot in Scripture that can be interpreted a number of ways, countless even. The reason there are so many different interpretations is due to it all being simply subjective.

You're amusing. The modern gutenberg bibles still exist and predate protestism. The duey reimes English bible predate Henry 8ths creation of protestantism. There are truly ancient bibles in Coptic, Latin and Greek. Btw how did the Catholics slaughter the post reformation Brits given that Henry and his heirs slaughtered the priests and believers who refused to convert to Henry's church, stole their property, and drove them to near extinction?

No fact is is I have looked up so many verses and it did not say what was claimed explain to me so many holy bibles and verses should be word for word in each one excuses do not make something right

There is only one reason why christians and so called christians to agree with the scriptures in the bible, because some want to interpret the bible on what they think it says not what is written, that's interpreting the bible in the flesh and the bible must be understood spiritually, 1 Corinthians 2:14

There are thousands of denominations just in christianity alone , each with a different doctrine. Each interpret gods rules and words differently. And each thinks the other denominations have got it wrong that only they have it right. They even disagree on things amongst the same church and congregation. So then for the religious it comes down to which objective version of god you hold as true IN YOUR OPINION. THAT MAKES IT ONLY AN OPINION NOTHING MORE. My opinion is that I could do a better job of authoring a moral system with just 5 mins to improve the bible watch. It’s NO rocket science sir… As long as pastors, evangelists, teachers, etc., ad nausea, are TAUGHT by men in cemeteries… ehrr, excuse me, seminaries, you will NEVER have unity about ANYTHING but only DIVISION. UNTIL all of YOU put aside egos and visions of grandeur of your “ministries”, you are working in VAIN (Psalm 127:1) and as long as you are NOT submitting to the teachings and leading of His Spirit (John 16:13; Zech. 4:6) you will experience Hosea 4:6 in your lives. Period, end of story.

Because Martin Luther revolted and many heresys and interpretations and churches have risen up and follow wolves. Catholicism has kept the same interpretation for over 2000 years just as the church fathers and Jesus meant for his one Church to be. There is no confusion in our interpretations.

There are huge differences in interpretations: role of baptism, should you baptise a baby or not, can you lose your salvation if sinning or not and so on! There are 35 000 protestant denominations with all sorts of different Bible interpretations, all of them believe they have the right answer. Do you really think God left us here in a big confusion about what He wanted to tell us? You won't find one place in the Bible that teaches infant baptism. Those who do so, don't get it from the Bible.

It happened BECAUSE I sincerely prayed my heart out to Jesus; asking WHY there are so MANY diabolically different beliefs all over the world; when it comes to interpretations of the bible(s). Within days, I began learning things I had never learned in the previous 70 yrs of my life. Oh indeed I did. Praise Jesus! And it hasn't stopped yet! Wow! How I love Jesus with "all my heart, soul and mind"! Warning: In all likelihood, You're NOT "gunna" like this; but I believe it IS true. I believe that the Holy Spirit guided me to realize that ALL bibles are filled with errors. Oh indeed yes. I would have never believed that; If I hadn't took it to Jesus!. Thus, I stand on it; as I stand on this planet. I don't care if the entire world goes against me I will stand on it. However... ...I am NOT going to throw my bibles in the garbage can; BECAUSE there are untold "golden" truths throughout the bible(s) ALSO!. Oh indeed yes. C Nault People have so many different understandings and interpretations of what they believe in the Bible. Some love the Bible and some hate the Bible. Even so, it is still fulfilling the Lord’s statement-“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me”(John 12:32).

C Nault I cannot prove that the Lord was lifted up or even had said that he was lifted up. It is the apostle John who said that the Lord said that he was lifted up. The apostle said in his writing-“This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things”. And I believe the same in what he said. I cannot prove that the Lord has said that statement you are asking me, and neither can I prove that he was lifted up using the text of John 12:32; but just as John said “and we know that his (John) testimony is true”(v.24), so I believed the same. It all began with believing in Genesis 1:1.

This video was an embarrassment. The speaker provided no explanations, only excuses. He shed no light on, for example, Catholic vs. Protestant interpretations of justification, or Calvinist vs. Arminian interpretations of predestination. I was looking for something more specific.

There are huge differences between mythological characters who lived "once upon a time" (ie, they never really existed) and a known historical figure like Jesus. The miraculous birth stories of the former bear only superficial similarities to the accounts in Matthew and Luke of Jesus' conception and birth.

Greg B True the vast majority of historians don't question the historical existence of Jesus. Whether the arguments for the Christ-myth theory will continue to gain traction among scholars and historians, only time will tell. Some tenured professors are open to the idea on a mythic Jesus. Nevertheless, even if an actual Jesus of Nazareth did exist, he is highly unlikely to be the Jesus of the gospels, meaning the gospel accounts are hardly believable and not written by eyewitnesses, and even biblical scholars can't agree on the time frame in which they were written.

On what rational grounds do you say that the Jesus of history and the Jesus of the Gospels are not one and the same? What is your evidence? All you've got is the opinions of some anti-Christian "scholars" (who because of their bias can make no claims to objectivity).

There is no god But only ONE. JESUS IS PROPHET OF GOD LIKE ADAM ,,DAVID,,SOLOMAN MANY PROPHETS Surat No 4 : سورة النساء - Ayat No 157 وَّ قَوۡلِہِمۡ اِنَّا قَتَلۡنَا الۡمَسِیۡحَ عِیۡسَی ابۡنَ مَرۡیَمَ رَسُوۡلَ اللّٰہِ ۚ وَ مَا قَتَلُوۡہُ وَ مَا صَلَبُوۡہُ وَ لٰکِنۡ شُبِّہَ لَہُمۡ ؕ وَ اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ اخۡتَلَفُوۡا فِیۡہِ لَفِیۡ شَکٍّ مِّنۡہُ ؕ مَا لَہُمۡ بِہٖ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ اِلَّا اتِّبَاعَ الظَّنِّ ۚ وَ مَا قَتَلُوۡہُ یَقِیۡنًۢا ﴿۱۵۷﴾ۙ And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. Surat No 3 : سورة آل عمران - Ayat No 55 اِذۡ قَالَ اللّٰہُ یٰعِیۡسٰۤی اِنِّیۡ مُتَوَفِّیۡکَ وَ رَافِعُکَ اِلَیَّ وَ مُطَہِّرُکَ مِنَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا وَ جَاعِلُ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّبَعُوۡکَ فَوۡقَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡۤا اِلٰی یَوۡمِ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ۚ ثُمَّ اِلَیَّ مَرۡجِعُکُمۡ فَاَحۡکُمُ بَیۡنَکُمۡ فِیۡمَا کُنۡتُمۡ فِیۡہِ تَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ ﴿۵۵﴾ [Mention] when Allah said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to JESUS IS NOT DEAD_AL_QURAN_THE_BOOK OF_ONE_GOD_ALLAH

Noble Qur'an 19.35 John 3.16 contradicts with Nature of God mentioned in Bible itself. God is Not Loving n Unjust as per Corrupted Text of Bible God ORDER "TO KILL WOMEN, CHILDREN, INFANTS, horses etc" 1 Samuel 15:3 Bible has Sons by tonns including Begotten. Allah informed mankind that previous books were only for Particular group of ppl and have been corrupted by Humans. So whatever in Bible matches with Qur'an is actual word of God what doesn't match and goes against Qur'an it means its corrupted by Scribes.

Because its all fake

Coz Humans have corrupted previous Books sent by God. "There r more mistakes in Bible than there r words in it" Bart Erhman. All mankind shud follow final revelation of God Holy Qur'an.

The Bible is not the word of God

There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his servant and messenger and I add that Jesus is his prophet.

"Why are there so many interpretations of the Bible?" Deceptive answers. So deceptive snakes like this man can deceive you away from God's word. King James, Geneva, Bishop's, Tyndale.... there are many non-Gnostic Bibles available.
