Very often, Angelina Jordan was as a very young child together with her mom at Bodil Niska´s "Bare jass café" (Just Jazz Café) in Oslo, listening to the old masters in Bodil´s club/café and record shop. And as a child in Norway it is not all about skiing. Norway is a very "blessed" country in economics and free of charge there is at least one cultural school in every community, After kindergarten and school , children and youths can have professional teachers in music, dance, theathre, fine arts and more. Angelina was not more than six years old when she had professional help in sound studios. So it is not all about winter sports here :)

It's amazing what she does, she has such vocal skills she sings "on the fly," playing that rasp, vocal fry, tone, vibrato, & other vocal ornaments, as she feels it. She plays her voice like a musical instrument. After her audition on Norway's Got Talent when she was 7, one judge (Lisa) said " You a-r-e the music," & she was so right.

What helps her look innocent is that she was obviously not fed the questions in advance. I don't think that Rosie knew the answers, either. This song became her signature song in her early career.

yes, it was an eye opener. That rehersal marked the transition from Angelina the little girl to Angelina the young lady. It's apparent here that she has a pallet of singing techniques that she can splash around at will.

Fly me to the moon, one of her all time favourites! She did so well in the interview, only having trouble remembering the English term for the talent show, translating names is always a challenge... At this young age the traveling and performing in the year she won NGT must have been a real whirlwind, Germany, France, Sweden and USA!

Some people thought she was showing nerves when she stumbled saying 'Norway's Got Talent'. I only know English but, knowing that translating names is challenging is a more likely reason for why she had difficulty. I guess you just have to recall what the name is in the other language.

She sings the Quincy Jones arrangement which is what Frank Sinatra recorded, she sang it at Quincy's 85th birthday as a personal request from him. This was her 1st American appearance.

Great reaction as always and I am praying that all these new KZread rules does not mess with the way you do reactions, but you may have to change some things especially on signed artist or TV shows, most of Angelina's are safe. Like other people have said she has done this song many times in different ways. One that I saw was a small video of when she was in Brasil for a concert and she went to see the Jesus statue and it is noisy with tour groups but she was leaning against a railing away from the other people and she looks at the Jesus statue and starts singing this song acapella to Jesus, it is so fitting for a little girl to sing this to Jesus "please be true", "in other words I love you". When I saw this I understood how a small child can sing a song like this with such passion because her perspective on the song is so different than ours. Thank you again for another Angelina video, even though I enjoy all of your video's it is just that she just melts my heart.

Wow, Barry! What a wonderful reactor you are. And you have a fantastic voice. I love your format of listening first, then listening and commenting, and then your final thoughts. It is such a pleasure hearing all that from a true professional. After 40+ years (now retired) as a music educator and jazz musician, I can honestly say I have never heard anyone like Angelina Jordan. Over the years, I had 2-3 students who I considered to be prodigies, but nothing even close to Angelina. You said you wanted to hear her sing different versions of "Fly Me To The Moon". So far, I have found 34 of them on KZread, but I know she has done many others. You also said you would like to hear an up tempo version, so here, in my opinion, is the best one. She once sang for Quincy Jones (it's on KZread) and he was so impressed that he invited her to open the show at his 85th birthday celebration on June 27, 2018 at the O2 Arena in London singing FMTTM. She was 12. She's is backed by members of the London Symphony Orchestra playing the famous arrangement that Quincy wrote for Frank Sinatra and The Count Basie Orchestra. Hey Barrie. Angelina performed this song when she was 12 y/o at the O2 in London for Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday gala. It was Jones himself who invited her. This song may be Quincy Jones most famous jazz arrangement of his entire career. In 1964 he arranged this song for Frank Sinatra and Count Basie and their version has become arguably THE classic jazz version of this song. The fact that HE asked her to open his show with his song is every bit as mind blowing to me as her performance. There is no video of the performance but this video combines the audio from that performance with video of a rehearsal ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/gYGf2dGqhbG0m6g.html ). FYI, a lot of people will tell you that she’s rehearsing with the London Symphony Orchestra. It was not the London Symphony orchestra, she performed the song with the Senbla Symphony orchestra, conducted by Jeff Buckley. Angela has described that experienced as the highlight of her musical career so far. Of course, none of this takes away from her performance on The View. Omg, she was indescribably adorable on that show and what a performance!
