Iris van Herpen ~ Sensory Seas

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

On January 20th, 2020, Iris van Herpen presented her latest Couture collection, titled ’Sensory Seas’, at Cirque d'hiver Bouglione in Paris.
~
For this collection, Iris van Herpen draws inspiration from the sensory processes that occur between the intricate composition of the human body, mirrored with the fibrous marine ecology of our oceans. The first threads of inspiration came from the Spanish neuroanatomist Ramón y Cajal. He wanted to uncover something that no one had yet understood. He questioned; how does the brain engage in conversation with its counterparts? Exploring our central nervous system in microscopic detailing, Cajal documented his revolutionary findings through anatomical drawings that are considered amongst the world’s greatest scientific illustrations. Hunched over his microscope, he merged science with art and brought to life the threads of our enchanted biology to the human eye. Other inspiration stemmed from diving into the deep depths of the Hydrozoa, a class of delicately branched sea-life organisms. Shifting between a polypoid stage and a medusa stage, the Hydrozoa embroider the oceans like aqueous fabrics, forming layers of living lace. ‘Sensory seas’ holds a microscope over the indelible nuances between the anthropology of a marine organism, to the role of dendrites and synapses delivering infinite signals throughout our bodies. It enchants the attention of how two processes of torrential messaging exist in an uninterrupted state of flux. The collection consists 21 silhouettes that illustrate a portrait of liquid labyrinths, where dresses spill onto the floor in elegant train and pigments gather in cloudedpools of blues and lilac, leaking into one another like marble.

    # Pomegranate Molasses:....and not within the realm of wearability?? To intentionally design outside of that reality is wasteful and pointless unless designed specifically as unrestricted art, untethered to the disciplines and requirements of the fashion business and created exclusively for display in a gallery for costumes.

@@johntucker9326 honestly, I think a lot of these are wearable, especially the flowing, fish-like ones. I think high fashion is there to be outrageous and artistic. @@pomegranatemolasses6432 like it or not it is a business. That's the reality. The great couturiers understood this and still retained their creative, innovative genius, much of which is referenced still today in the better, less obtuse couture presentations. A responsible designer must keep the potential wearer in mind; if he or she prefers to lose sight of that indisputable fact and design purely "for art's sake" with no respect for the house's bottom line or reason for existence, then that designer needs to take his or her talent elsewhere beyond the expectations and disciplines of business.

@@johntucker9326 Iris doesn't have a "house", she is an independent designer with a small team, so she can focus on whatever she likes. She only makes 2 small collections per year. And yes many of her pieces are considered works of art and have been bought and didplayed by museums and art galleries around the world. She also designs costumes for opera and ballet, and contributes to architectural projects. In other words, she is not a commercial fashion designer, she is an artist.

Miss. Bitch, Swerve in the description of her video, it literally says that she drew inspiration from MARINE (ocean) systems and ecology, and tied them into neuroscience and dendritic function. Jan wasn’t completely wrong at all. While Iris does in fact play around with natural textures I.e water, light, vibration etc., and applies it beautifully to her silhouettes, there’s also a scientific bio-ecological niche that she taps into to produce these pieces. It’s magnificent.

Iris Van Herpen is like designing the future. Every single piece that walked that runway blew my mind away. What makes it so different is the motion in every dress. The dress can be on mannequin and still look alive. As if she is giving life to the dress. Even so complicated design the garments look so effortless. And vision of sea has been put intuitively into this collection. Its fantastic. One can easily see and find every single element and part of sea that she has put into. Love her.

Teaching myself to sew I want to make my own clothes and dresses. I'm only a few years into it yet I completely 100% appreciate the time the passion that goes into making clothing like this. It's not about what is functional, it's about the hard work, passion, time, technique, and years of talent to create something like this. To take an idea, and make this reality! It's not easy! It's not a small achievement! This is remarkable talent, hard work, and the brain power to understand the pattern making and placements to make everything so perfect! This is modern DaVinci. This is work of a genius.
