Same as always, The theory makes the result. When you compare Galaxy S to iphone in october the iPhone always wins cause it has 6 months to best the galaxy in any way. If you make the same video in May when the iphone is 8 months old and the galaxy is brand new the galaxy will kick its ass in all tests. It all depends which result you want to get.

***** We always do comparisons of the latest from each OEM regardless of release cycle. So in the spring, we will indeed do a Galaxy "S6" vs iPhone 6 ... and if it results in Samsung routing Apple, we'll report it thusly. ^M

He did indeed but it just seems to me that no reviewer aptly explains that if you want to mimic the speed of transitions or rendering of Apple a simple speed scale down is in the developer options. The comparisons seemed to be skewed away simply from form factor or ecosystem but rather capability. When in this year's battle of phones, most all devices align across brand and platform.

  • @Pocketnow

    @Pocketnow

    9 жыл бұрын

Terrance Mackey Agree; it's less a question of single factors like transition speed, and more one of how various elements like ecosystem, design, and power come together to form a whole experience. A tough picture to paint in 10 minutes. ^M

Not turn them off, but rather scale them down a factor. Android out of the box has a "dramatic pause" that gives the illusion of lack of speed as compared to other platforms. If you take the individual scales down a half step the phone appears to move faster.

And besides, the only thing I really look at when I use it, is my screen...

iOS8 is not finely crafted - it's full of nasty half arsed crap - take a closer look at opening and closing folder for example - note how the corners of the widow suddenly redraw as the folder moves from the animation of open/closed to the final sizing - they leap around - it's shoddy work from Apple, and there are loads more areas where it's just nasty - shield badges at the top of the screen overlap the notification bar, apps that hang require manual intervention to close - in no way is it "refined" like the hardware - in my opinion it's by far the worst release of iOS to date, to the point where I'm thinking of going back to 7.1 on my 5C. Having said all of that, Samsung is crap too - I'd choose neither of these and go for the 2014 Moto-X.

Slightly OffTopic, what do you think of the Note 4 v iPhone 6+? The Note 4 is the one I'm excited to see. I use my phone quite a bit at work, but I am also an app hound and I use my phone for everything. The pen is fantastic. I have the Note 10.1 and love it, but that's not a phone.

Hey I was looking at your video and I have one concern the galaxy has animations for opening apps and also pressing the home button that is what makes it slow down while opening the apps or going home I work for Verizon and I learned how to turn off the animations and the galaxy is much faster than the iPhone in this regard most ppl or reviewers have no idea of this

This is the best comparison Pocketnow has done in my year of following the channel. Michael Fisher is the fuel that keeps this channel going.

Michael Fischer has done it again! Can't put into words how refreshing it is to watch a comparison video (especially one that features Apple & Samsung products) filmed with an unbiased and objective approach from the tech reviewer. It meabs a lot to me to be able to sort "fall in love all over again" with the aspects of a particular model that are sometimes forgotten amongst the cornucopia of specs and features of a flagship handset. Side by side comparisons are one of the best tools for educating a prospective first-time smartphone consumer or helping to tip the scales in one direction or another if someone is considering switching brands. No matter what your purpose may be for watching, I can unequivocally say that Michael is one of the best out there when it comes to delivering a solid, quality experience. I tip my proverbial hat to you and the rest of the tean at PocketNow!!

I think too much emphasis is focused around the exterior design and feel a smartphone. Doesn't it become a moot point when most users just fit a protective case around the phone anyway?

Now wait a minute? I thought amoled screens were better in direct sunlight as opposed to lcd screens? I own both the G2 and s3(used mostly as an mp3 player) and the s3's screen is better in direct sunlight, even when its brightness setting is low. The glare I see on the G2's screen making it impossible to use on a sunny day, resulting in me cranking up the brightness thus reducing battery life.

Best VS battle I have ever seen Mr. Micheal Fisher, and the visuals and video demonstration montages were so well put together. I have to completely agree with your comment on the S5 having better noise cancellation (my wife's daily driver). I did not expect the iPhone demonstration between everyday smoothness to completely surpass the S5. Please keep doing whatever it was you did different for this video. Elderoth - still rocking with the Lumia 920 in Canada

Is there an m8 vs iphone 6 comparison on Pocketnow yet? They're 3709822% more similar imo. Especially given the fact that Apple used HTC's back design (which look weird on the iphone) and that both are unibody aluminum.

Ok i get that everybody says that the s5 is so much more customizable, but why? other than the theme, and im talking about the software so dont bring up battery and storage, what else would you want to customize that you cant on the iphone? i dont understand someone please explain.

The galaxy line is an extension of Samsung's android phones. Any android is 100 times more customizable out of the box than even a jailbroken iphone. There are endless options to add or subtract to make the phone your own. Generally any iphone you see will look almost exactly the same with exception of wallpaper or app organization into folders. With the android yiu would be able to completely alter the stock look to unrecognizable at one glance of the home screen. With rooted android handsets you take this even deeper and you can alter the entire ui to your liking.

Yes. You hit it right on the nose. When I get bored of my s5 I can have a nexus and run stock android. (Only reason i dont is to keep full use of my Gear 2 neo) Android represents diversity. Why should we all have the exact same phone? It would be like driving on the road and everyone has the exact same car just different color. If people like iPhone fine. Some people are better off leaving others to make their choices for them. I like to have options.
