One bug I found in Beta 1 that is now fixed is touchpad support. It was extremely buggy in B1, but I updated to B2 today, and it’s now back to normal with my Magic KB trackpad and MS Arc Mouse, particularly scrolling and consistent single-clicking.

🐬 Waiting for the public beta version to come out. But, yes! I’m super happy now. After many years of waiting, I was on the verge of abandoning iPadOS and moving on. But Apple did deliver this time as they have given us the same two things I wanted: better multitasking (Stage Manager) and external display support. Thanks Apple… I’m super excited.

Hi! Great video! I have a question regarding your BenQ-monitor. Does the USB-C port have enough power to charge your iPad pro while using it?

🐬 for some reasons after updated to this version I can no longer use the full external display support. The iPad placement option just disappear when I connect to the monitor, perhaps it might be because my display aren’t in 4K resolution.

I know this is probably a Zoom software update question, but I am curious on the behavior you see with stage manager when using Zoom. Does it still force the chat box to sit on top of the main zoom window blocking the video feed, or can you have chat box, participants, and video all up at the same time like you would on Mac OS?

🐬 Thanks for the updates. Installed Beta 2 today and there are less crashes and it seem smoother. One thing add is the ability to click the the three dots and then the + to add a new app window. Before this just said not yet implemented. I also connected an external monitor today for the first time and this makes a real difference with respect to windowing and UI. iPadOS really felt a lot like MacOS with an external monitor connected.

What cable you used to connect it with monitor? Thunderbolt usb c to usb c? Or hdmi to usb c ?

About the connection to a tv through a Usb-c to hdmi cable or using a hub on the live version is also very wierd because sometimes when i connect it it says ipad under mirror option in control center other times it says like dongle stick... The diffrence is where the audio comes out.... When it says ipad it has sound from the ipad and when it says dongle the audio is from the tv.... Only Way to change this is to disconnect the cable and plug it in again and Hope it picks the one you want..... Never found out how to pick it your self.... 🐬

I read on other videos comments section that Ipad air 5 64 GB might not get Stage Manager as it does not support virtual swap memory ? Is this true ? Does someone have this kind of Ipad and experience any problem in using Stage Manager ? Thanks for your answers.

The thing with the Photos app is actually not a glitch. It's just an app that can use the entire external monitor. This happens with other apps, too, for example PowerPoint.

yeah, it’s just the aspect ratio of the photo. Also, when he zoomed, it zoomed in on the photo.

How about the refresh rate?lets say 144hz of the external monitor, does it apply also? i mean can you feel the high refresh rate of the monitor being applied. Thanks

High refresh rate are depends to the hardware

have you tried testing out a projector for the ipad as an external monitor for the stage manager feature? do you think that apple will support that kind of use in their stage manager?

As long as you can plug it in either via HDMI or USB-C then it will work

🐬 Sorry but great as Stage Manager is proving to be, I’m still doing most of my work on my M1 Pro MBP. iPad OS still has a ways to go when it comes to the file system. And Stage Manager still has limitations (most notably the number of windows that can be open at the same time) that are simply not there on my Mac.

How about gaming on the monitor? Does now work?

If you are watching in HDR, then probably yes... The UI generally runs at 500 nits but when you run HDR stuff, it goes upto 1000/1600 nits.

Glad battery is improved on beta 1 I was losing 1% every minute on a brand new m1 12.9

I'm surprised to discover I actually don't like stage manager, on the mac although it looks good in demo. I use spaces; and window management 3rd party apps like moom; which work great; and now have decided to turn stage manager off. I go into another user account to play with it. Still not a big fan.

🐬I would like the iPad to be my only device. I like using the MBP because I need a camera, a video conferencing app and a note taking app for my work. I have to answer messages and do other tasks while on a video, so the multiple apps at a time is important to workflow. If that's not what Apple wants me to use the iPad Pro for, I wish they would just say so, instead of constantly, almost making it possible to do everything on one device. Sigh....close but still so far away. Fingers crossed it will still develop.

Actually, Ipad air 4 does not have M1 Chip so it won't be able to run stage manager.

You can also drag the windows larger and make that stupid stage manager thing on the left go away.

I was disappointed with stage manager. I love my iPad, but until they bring true multitasking (meaning that apps run in the background like they are still on), I will unfortunately still need my laptop. All stage manager did was allow certain apps to function at once as windows. I could almost do the same thing before with split screen and an app pulled from the side. But all the apps that don’t work in split screen still don’t work in stage manager. They will only load as the main screen. Until I can use any app on stage manager and have things running in the background, it’s mediocre multitasking at best and not good enough. So stage manager is mostly just another way to view some apps at once. It’s an improvement, but small and not much by way of multitasking. The external display however looks like that will be an improvement, and may actually add some additional multitasking with stage manager. However I want to be able to multitask any app on my iPad without an external display…

The video is so zoom out the text on the iPad screen is too small to read.

Yes, Apple got a lot of negativity for Stage Manager which goes with the land for them, whatever they tend to do there is a large demographic wanting to jump on them. But Apple did what was asked, gave us a pro feature making use of the M-chips and those complaining about older iPads should reflect that this is a result, just as they asked for a year ago. These early betas are for refinement and crushing bugs; there were rumours that the Public Beta may hit later than usual, Apple knew they have a lot of work, and the release notes say as much, so maybe two more developer betas before Apple releases the public beta, mid-July onwards?

The stage manager is a fraud, When placing 2 music or video apps at the same time, they don't play at the same time, an app stops playing. Something that doesn't happen on Windows, Mac OS or android.

i actually found a way to do it, but its deff not supposed to happen. If you have youtube open and playing while stage manager is on but its in full screen. You can grab apple music or youtubeTV and place it right over the first audio app and then they both play. Its a weird glitch but it works. But I dont think its an intentional feature

@@zachg3069 i dont think this will be fixed in the final version either… because i dont think apple see this as a problem, as someone else said why would you need 2 sources of audio playing at the same time? (Like being able to move apps wherever you want on your home screen or having a calculator on an ipad).
