Introduction to RNAV approaches for X-Plane and Simmers

Ойындар

RNAV, and its approaches, is a huge topic that can be exciting, confusing, and controversial. This video attempts to shed some light on the topic in both Powerpoint form and actual flights in X-Plane to demo 4 of the basic varieties of RNAV approaches. Caveat: this is not an exhaustive look at RNAV approaches by any means, and leaves a lot of room for further research and discussion.

Brad, this video is absolutely fantastic. I am in the process of trying to understand how to enable RNAV approaches in our aircraft in X-Plane, but in order to do that, I do need to understand RNAV approaches and it has been quite difficult to understand. I'm only one-third of your video in but I already want to thank you for your time and the quality of this video. THANK YOU!

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT video. A ton of information that has taken me days of wading through volumes of other KZread videos that don’t even come close to the breadth and depth covered in this video. And BONUS for me, I literally flew the RNAV approach into Palm Springs a few hours before I found this video, so the material in this section of the video was particularly interesting to me and provided for timely learning reinforcement. THANK YOU. SUBSCRIBED!

Hi Brad, thank you so much. I had to fly unexpectedly an RNVP APP on VATSIM in LFMN yesterday. Your video has helped me a lot and I will try it tonight again. BTW you sound like my flight instructor in KPRC in the 90ies. Thank you again!

Oh yes, Palm Springs! You used that approach in the Saab 340. Have flown it several times. Good overview Brad.

Thanks Mike! I forgot about that SAAB 340 flight. I'll have to watch it again, but I'm sure it was not shot as an RNP because I had never heard of an RNP at that point. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to attempt.

Yep you said it can’t find one place that describes it

I dont know much yet but wanted to point out I read somewhere that RNP has some sort of "self monitoring" capability and aside from requiring special equipment and pilot certifications, that's why RNP approaches as so accurate. What do yo think? Separately, you should try the Airfoil Labs King Air, aside from proline; we are talking study level insanely accurate plane Thanks for posting this
