Introduction to IR Tools

Ғылым және технология

Knowledge of the tools at one's disposal is crucial to operating as an interventional radiologist. Resources aiming to distill the complex and evolving array of tools into comprehensible basics are not widely available for the student, resident, or fellow. Given the growing interest in IR, this video aims to introduce the viewer to the nomenclature, measurement systems, and use cases of the fundamental IR staples: needles, wires, and catheters.
Kapil Wattamwar is a fourth year medical student at Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and a member of the SIR Medical Student Council.

Wow, thanks so much. I've been an X-ray tech for 10 years and just started training in the interventional suite. I felt a little overwhelmed with all the equipment. This is exactly what I needed.

This is the modified Seldinger technique because the original seldinger punctured through the vessel on both sides (double-wall puncture)

@@Jackkman1 be familiar with the seldinger technique, wire diameters, catheter diameters, sheath diameters, & how to properly drape a patient and set up a sterile procedure. So essentially the basics. Let me know if you have any questions.

Teleflex is one, or maybe the only, company that really focusses on complex PCI and Chronic obstructions. Get them in to train your team. They were in my hospital and they know a lot, also when to use other material. Not many companies know the "toolbox" that well.
