Interview with Joseph Pilates Barber Tony Carlino

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

www.pilatesology.com / In this exclusive interview, you'll meet 92-years-young Tony Carlino, who was Joseph Pilates' barber and friend beginning in 1947. Watch and you'll get a wonderful peek back in time to Tony's memories of Joe from the very moment they met in Lee, Massachusetts where Joe spent his summers and weekends in the Berkshire Mountains. Tony's vivid stories of Joe's white mane of hair, corncob pipe and mahogany tan will bring him alive and you'll hear how Tony's workouts with Joe were instrumental in restoring his mental health after WWII. There's before and after photos of Tony, taken by Joe to prove how his method changed Tony's body and stories of the weekly workout group that Joe offered to the local community. We then took Tony to visit Joe's former studio and property, owned by Sean Gallagher near Jacob's Pillow. Don't miss his stories of cold showers and hour long workouts with springs attached to the sides of Joe's house (click here to see more of Joe's property and here for Joe's history at Jacob's Pillow). Our gratitude goes to our interviewer for this video, Cathy Strack, who found Tony while researching her biography on Romana Kryzanowska. Please visit Cathy at: cathystrack.com/ for info on pre-ordering her book. You can also watch a preview of her book that we filmed: Love All Around: The Romana Kryzanowska Biography.

Wow what a great story. For an elderly man he still looks strong and moves around pretty good. I’m sure he can attribute that to doing Pilates and staying active.

I'm sorry for your loss. What a wonderful person he seems to be, and how kindly he spoke of Mr. Pilates.
