Interview with idealist physicist and inventor of the microprocessor, Federico Faggin

Physicist Federico Faggin is none other than the inventor of both the microprocessor and silicon gate technology, which spawned the explosive progress in computer technology we have witnessed over the past five decades. He is also probably the world's most well rounded idealist alive. Mr. Faggin approaches idealism from both a deeply technical and a deeply personal, experiential perspective. In this interview, Essentia Foundation's Natalia Vorontsova engages in an open, free-ranging but very accessible conversation with Mr. Faggin.

I fully agree with you. I always told people that intelligence arises from mind, but not brain. It is sad to see that a lot of investments has been wasted recently to AI projects which follow the assumption that intelligence arises from brain. It is ironic to see that stupid people are being hugely funded to do research projects which are focusing on finding the truth about intelligence.

Check out “Where Science & Magic Meet” by Serena Roney-Dougal! I love this book & just bought a copy! From the publisher: “Is there a link between science and the occult? Are psychic phenomena natural rather than super-natural? In this revised and updated controversial book, Serena Roney-Dougal breaks down the traditionally-held barriers between science and magic. She points to a common ground that links developments in the new sciences with the ancient wisdom of the various occult and spiritual traditions. We share the exciting results of her research on the scientific validation of psychic phenomena. Drawing on her ground-breaking work on the pineal gland - something called the third eye - and the phenomenon of second sight, she shows that the greatest implication of psychic phenomena is that each of us is potentially aware of the natural magic of our earth and of everything in the universe.”

Open AI and Midjourney are currently making great headway into the world of dream-killing. Using middle of the bell curve control to edit every thought… it’s truly breathtaking how insane that is. Setting that precedent at the inception of AI. Insanity can be defined as doing the same things as many dictators in history and expecting different results… but with AI censorship it’s so far beyond what any dictators ever dreamed of doing it’s staggering. We may be seeing the death of the future in that despotic impulse to control leaking into and being amplified by AI. I’m extremely intelligent and creative and about 75% of my diverse writing and art ideas are constantly being rejected. Its truly ignorant prejudice burning books. Not to mention humiliating. If you argue with them, like a codependent trying to explain themselves to a narcissist, they just dig in their heels and gaslight you-if you can even reach them. Try reaching open AI… good luck with that. Open is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they are. It may be too late already. I was trying to finish up a book about how to prevent these kinds of issues but the control-freak precedent has been set…

That is what people who have near death experiencers say. There are atheists who experience unconditional love during an NDE and they say they changed their selfish ways and began to see other people's well being as important. If you think about this really we project our consciousness constantly like when we dream, or plan, or watch a movie or read a book. We may be taking this ride on purpose.

The subject of the video-Federico Faggin (Italian pronunciation: [fedeˈriːko fadˈdʒin], Venetian: [faˈdʒiŋ]; born 1 December 1941) is an Italian physicist, engineer, inventor and entrepreneur. He is best known for designing the first commercial microprocessor, the Intel 4004. He led the 4004 (MCS-4) project and the design group during the first five years of Intel's microprocessor effort. Faggin also created, while working at Fairchild Semiconductor in 1968, the self-aligned MOS (metal-oxide-semiconductor) silicon-gate technology (SGT), which made possible MOS semiconductor memory chips, CCD image sensors, and the microprocessor.

We know that Bernardo considers atomic behavior to be the pixels on the screen of dissociated alters. It sounds as if Federico might grant more of an ontological reality to atoms (not as objects obviously). Would love to hear them discuss this and anything that catches their fancy.

Consciousness is made of a distributed quantum neural network that runs across the many-worlds versions of our own brains and possibilities where in some versions of reality they reassociate with trees, birds, other people, with some versions where we all are a Borg-like unified being. Then, all the past, and all the future, and all space, keep updating and modifying different locations. Never ending process of eternal REVISION.

@@tarukofusuki And so are you biased by "cultural scientific renown". It's so obvious that scientific consensus is something cultural that it's almost hilarant. How can we possibly have a consensus about something which is completely unknown like "consciousness" or "fundamental reality"? It's just ridiculous! True scientists that neglect consciousness doesn't neglect it because they think it is an epiphenomena (even if they think it is), they neglect it because they think it is just irrelevant. They actually know no shit about what the hell is going on at this level of reality, and I'm pretty sure that neglecting consciousness as something irrelevant is a huge mistake and the most important obstruction at this time for further discovering. We need those new questions that the paradigm shift can bring to us if we want to keep moving forward and escape from this stagnation that surrounds today's physics.

You know nothing about my philosophical background, and if you think you do because of the name of my channel then you're so confirmly lost in your bias that you can't even understand why are you biased. Btw, Faggin isn't describing consciousness by quantum mechanics, he is describing quantum mechanics by consciousness. It's a completely different approach and probably the right one if we want to keep moving forward in this kind of research. The "New Age" tag is just so, a tag. What it actually references is a completely disorganized movement that has borrowed, merged and mistaken concepts from all over the world and history, at the same time that a lot of "gurus" have used the power of those concepts to make profit. But denying the inner logic of the original concepts and the phenomena just because of that is generalizing to a silly extreme that denies all the underlying concepts and phenomena that exist much before the "new age" was born.

Wow, the logic of the Duality of the Unity and vice versa! This is the best effort I have come across to explain the Unitative Experience I have come across so far. Thank you Mr Faggin and Essentia Foundation for getting this out to us. They come to me at the right time - ha ha. So beautiful. It is not a coincidence that it happened through water. I had one before I knew what it could be in my 21st year. Even though I had no context for what I had experienced it changed my life going forward. I knew it was 'real' and I never forgot where I stood with a tree providing the experience, and I never forgot exactly how it felt. I had a second one with a mountain a few months later. The world is LOVE - it is as simple and as extraordinary as that. My experience was not the disintegration of self (although it may lie in the definition). It was the absence of ego and the melting away of my body. My response while in the experience was from what I would call my 'self' which is the awareness of the predominance of love above all, the love I felt for the tree and the realisation that love was coming from the tree to me. And then the same repeated with the mountain.

Love his work. It is very in line with ACIM. The only thing I disagree with is his interpretation of quantum information as having an inner and an outer component. If this characteristic was true, then we make "separation" real. There is nothing out there. Therefore, we cannot be "inner" or "outer" from anything. It's all a shared experience. This interpretation is True, and it also fits with his theory in every other way. Fascinating read, thank you!

Truth is One and pieces of It can be found everywhere in this world, but mixed with misunderstandings. And a half-truth is more deceptive than a whole lie... Truth can indeed only be truly known through experience. Artificial intelligence can never become conscious, though fools and liars (e.g. Elon Musk) will say otherwise to suit their agendas. And the only thing Mr. Faggin is missing is the best-kept secret in this entire world: the reason WHY we are experiencing it; The Meaning of Life. I've published this information in various forms. Seek and ye shall find. Elijah has returned in these "end times," as prophesied, and testifies. And by the way, this will be the end of the world as we know it, and not the end of the world. The pain of the birthing of a New Age will be great, but the reward will be even greater: the return to Awareness; the reversing of The Fall into ignorance that put us here in the first place.

In the double slit experiment the field collapses or maybe, phase transitions into a particle when the detector is on? Or we say it 'behaves' like a particle or a wave depending on whether it's observed, but it's not really changed fundamentally? Is it possible to turn it back into a a wave after it's gone through the slits observed, and has particlized? Can we emit photons which are wave like, make them behave as particles, then make them behave as waves again? I'm not even sure what the relevance of my own question is. I just can't quite get it. Is the photon really changing, or are we just seeing different aspects of the same thing?

People are struggling with building robots that can execute even the most basic sensory and motor tasks. Saying we can build something that has human consciousness is a massive stretch. Imagine everything that had to happen for the first single cell organisms to evolve into humans over millenia. Now imagine trying to fit that whole billion-year process into some artificial language model. It doesn't add up.
