Interview with 110 Year Old Woman, Flossie Dickey

My mom worked home health and I went to work with her lots and the people she cared for become like family. Some old people in there 90s loved life and don't want to die and some hate life with a passion. I asked one son of a 98 year old woman mom cared for why she was so against life cause compared to many her age my mom took care of she was in good health and walking. He said she was always a negative person and hated life and everything in life . She was the kind of person saying she wanted to die if the mail came late. It's kinda ironic that someone who was so negative about life living that long. The funny thing was she loved mom to death and hated most everything and everyone else.

When you think about it, it's kinda sad. You grow old and you're children just throw you into a nursing home. In most other cultures this is unheard of, your parents stay with you and your siblings until they die, you might keep them for a year or two then your sibling take turns, or if you don't have the space, you send money to help a sibling that does have them in their home, a nursing home is the last resort, when you're broke or homeless, but other than that, sending them to a nursing home is a disgrace. You guys are trying to be cute in the comments saying she "doesn't give fu*k", but why is that? Because, instead of living with the kids she raised and loved, and seeing her grand children grow up in front of her eyes, and having a strong relationship with them as well, she's stuck in a nursing home, just so she can get occasional visits. That's heartbreaking. Since she's old she might not show as outward emotion nearly as much, but I garuntee you she's not happy with her children and doesn't want to see any of them, because this is basically an obligatory piece of shit party, you can't even bring her home or be around earlier, instead, you have some stupid reporter condescendingly interview her, just so you can show up for a day, then leave, and then visit her like once a week or maybe once every two weeks. American culture is pretty sad and lonely.

Flossie is awesome.
It is annoying to see that woman being spoken to as if she is a 4 year old. That woman has lived it all and is wiser than any of you people. Ask her a question that no one else but her can answer, obtain knowledge from people like her. There is a reason why God has kept her alive for so long, and it is not to ask her how she feels and what she does to stay alive so long. I hope in her heart that she doesn't feel cursed with life, I see that she is so tired of it. The elderly in our culture are always tossed away and ignored, and it saddens me deeply. She was 6 when the Titanic sank for crying out loud. Think about that. I'm done.

MercilessV You are right. From her perspective, the reporter just showed up to marvel at why she isn't dead yet and put it all on TV so thousands of viewers could do the same. All while talking to her like she's a kid. I'm 46 and can see the wisdom curve goes up with age. This woman is, no doubt, very wise and perceptive. Who knows what she is really thinking.

Erin yes im very studied in this area. i knew about the titanic, actually the 1st world war was for the rothschilds to get the "balfour declaration" so they could have a piece of palestine for the jews. ww2 was to move the jews into israel by using hitler (hitler was controlled by the rothschilds), along with other things like continue to put america in debt by always being at war!! the u.s. was a rich country before the federal reserve... theyre 20 trillion in debt in 2017.

100% true great speech that she ever have.
This is hilarious....my great grandfather lived to be a hundred. I can tell you, he was just like this. Man of few words, in no big hurry to do anything. Just wanted people to leave him be.
That is the most badass human being I've ever seen. "I don't fight it, I live it." That's it people, the immortal has spoken! +1000 points if she was speaking normally just before the cameras rolled, and then trolled them all with this comedy act.
oh I love Mrs Flossie, she's a legend. She's very honest she wasn't in the mood for the interview and she didn't pretend.

The desperation of that bubble-headed field reporter, and Flossie's unrelenting disinterest. It's perfect comedy timing.
I don't know this lady but she seems depressed. Depression is a serious problem among the elderly. She certainly didn't seem into this interview. You'd think the station would have the decency to say the poor woman isn't up for it, let's come back another day. I'm sure she's thrilled that she made it through two world wars to spend her last years being laughed at by a bunch of airhead TV people and 13-year-olds on the internet.

+R.D. Dragon umm no she is extremely OLD, you can't just expect people to put on the fake bubbly act for their entire lives especially at that age! At that age, you can finally pretty much do/act however you want (unless its illegal/immoral/unethical of course), for example, drink as much as you want, become a painkiller addict, sleep all day, tell everyone to F off, etc etc

The beauty of old age is that you don't have to please anyone. Talk when you want, don't say anything when you don't want to. Say what's on your mind. Lol. RIP

But, like a child, you have fewer freedoms. My grandma killed herself by starvation in a nursing home because they wouldn't allow her to smoke, drink alcohol, or go home if she did.

Nothing wrong with being in a retirement home. There are lots of lovely ones. I and many other people would not want children to have to spend time looking after me. The key point in this regard is that you don't go into residential care until it's 100% essential. My own mum loved it so much she said 'Nicky how the hell did you get me into this lovely place'...!!!! It was a mansion house right beside her favourite park in her favourite city. She got cared for well and I visited whenever I could. We are not all rich enough to have big houses to house our parents and our children otherwise I would have looked after her myself. When I tried getting her to stay she got a Taxi and left 😂 Don't blame her I had 5 children

@puppylovergirl303
8 жыл бұрын
+Nathan Kim In trying to do her job (it wasn't her fault individually; I don't think she's a bad person) she was so obviously inauthentic, desperately shoving the mic in Flossie's clearly exhausted face and pushing silly crap like asking if there are any magical foods that can make us all like to 110. I was also referring to the journalists in the studio; they all were patronizing and condescending, and they treated her like she was mentally inferior.
@natekim8518
8 жыл бұрын
+OnceUponAPiano Shoving a mic in her face? She was barely audible! Of course it makes sense to shove the mic in her face. How were the anchors being disrespectful? Also, you said in your last comment that they are not bad people. Yet, you called them human trash in a previous comment.
