International Legion Fighters Caught In Heavy Russian Crossfire Backed By Artillery In Bakhmut
An intense helmet cam video shows a unit of foreign fighters from the Ukrainian International Legion being caugh in Russian crossfire backed artillery west of Bakhmut.
From the operator who sent this video to me: "The day prior to the team being inserted, the building next to it (west of the building) was blown up by UA forces. There was another legion team and a platoon of Ukrainians in the building adjacent to it, which resulted in a few wounded and concussions for that entire team. Rogue team was called in to rotate out the previous legion team and reinforce the remaining Ukrainians. At this point it was clear that it was a disadvantageous position since the building was in an L shape from the Russians. Guys couldn’t gain superior fields of fire due to the circumstance of being outflanked and overexposing. The enemy did not assault with infantry right away. They saturated the building with heavy weapons (mortars, RPGs, tanks, etc.) The enemy was definitely highly trained as it fired at pre determined firing points in the building which made it impossible to defend from the inside. The team had to withdraw. This started the fighting withdrawal. The team kept cool heads and calmly thought through the fog of war. Multiple instances of being lucky. Especially where “Kiwi” trips into the crater and a shell explodes right next to him. The team finally found a relatively safe structure to use as cover in the end. Still under artillery fire it ki**d a Ukrainian inside the same building. There were a total of 3 minor WIA from Rogue with concussions from everyone. Another lucky day."

This is what war with a capable enemy looks like. Back then against the Iraqi’s, there was no hard battle really. Main concern were IED’s and suicide bombers. Routine patrols and raids. With this however, the enemies have assault tactics, command, artillery superiority, and air surveillance. This is modern war. Even Iraqi veterans would say agree that this is a way higher intensity combat.

Concise, clear, and transparent. Three of the most important qualities when reporting on anything to anyone. You excel in these and should be lauded for your work.
In military terms, this unit was effectively suppressed at first, but because small arms fire ceased while tank fire was hitting (and their own discipline), this unit was able to maneuver. The maneuver was to retreat, but it saved the unit from being destroyed. You can see them staying a few steps ahead of being pinned down by the fire. Smart squad leaders to know what was happening.
@robertbradbury7921

"The maneuver was to retreat, but it saved the unit from being destroyed." you dont know that, we only know what wass in the video. The entire unit could have gotten smoked minutes later but edited out and that is more than likely since Wagner was adjusting fire pretty well. They probably anticipated were they were going to go hide next and hit it Sad part for these Ukraine fighters is that there were no civilians to seek cover from like in Kramatorsk
@starcraft2own
10 ай бұрын
@@robertbradbury7921 You say that but the video was given AFTER the fact by people from the squad. Would be a miracle act if the soldiers could edit out their own deaths and then give the video to news outlets. Sadly, i don't think editing softwares can remove bullet wounds and bring the dead back to life. So we do know more than what's in the video because the people IN the video survived and told what happened. It's clear that the russians we're superior in the video, so it's a safe bet to assume if the soldiers remained in that house, they would've fallen rather quickly, meaning everything Ninja said is almost fully correct. Also i highly doubt they anticipated the ukranians movement, it's more than likely they had eyes on target in some way.

Should have started training at the gym earlier to prevent damages from sitting to much and make it stronger. My father is a mechanic and is a walking skeleton from working heavy all his life with trucks and excevator/dumpers. While my grandfather is 83 and still has less body pain and he only worked in a store and office. Both were also in the military back in the day as well. So i rather take my work from home any day than break my body before i even hit 40 or 50.
This made my heart race just by watching from the safety of my own home behind a computer screen . I can only imagine the adrenaline flowing and that fight or flight feeling , very chaotic made worse by the lack of vision because of the dust and smoke . The amount of sensory over load with all the shooting and arty , so disorienting and all that heavy gear with lots of rubble and debris must have made it even harder to move . In that initial part of the video it would have been easy to have got turned around in your own mind and loose sense of direction and situation awareness . Yet I saw no panic and they got out in an orderly manner , says a lot about these Soldiers and how professional they are . Long may their luck and skill and professionalism last them through out this war .
Great video, direct and clear.

Man these Russians are pretty solid
They are well trained and very composed.
Most interesting aspect of that is the lack of artillery support. Would have been quite different with whatever the Ukrainian equivalent of a forward observer is. Also quite telling that there is no artillery support. Does it exist or is it tasked elsewhere. The other interesting aspect is the difficulty of orientating yourself and your position when the rubble and craters have altered the usual building/street landscape that most people would be familiar with. That can lead to some nasty exposure. Lastly, its interesing they didnt have proper comms with the friendlies linking in with them on the sides. Thats very much not good. Thats a recipe for blue on blues.

It is very hard for me to speak about the things you mentioned and showing videos depicting it is even more harder and closely to impossible. Other channels can basically get away even with showing the killing of people but this is a pretty old and widely known channel despite the currently low view count. That means people who like to suppress this kind of videos have already zeroed in on it.
