A good day cutting grass with nothing major breaking. The 504 is quite powerful for its size.

I grew up on one of these and am looking for one to purchase, they are rare in South Georgia. Thanks for showing yours and have a blessed week.

My pleasure! I have an extra 504 that I bought just for parts. They are hard to find just about anywhere the country. This is especially true for the Diesel version. I had an older gentleman tell me they were too small for a commercial farm and too big for a hobby farm. He also said they were also hard to start in cold weather if the battery is not strong and not popular with colder areas. Mine starts easily but you need to hold the glow plugs for about 30 full seconds when it is cold and then again for a few seconds once it starts

I'm actually going to use the engine and front axle from a 504 on my 340 because finding parts for the 340 is impossible to verify expensive. Not to mention getting rid of the steering system that is obsolete for a hydraulic system that is serviceable. You have a great running tractor there and it's happy cutting grass.

That sounds like an interesting project. I have a spare 504 I bought for parts. Unfortunately , it is missing the front end. It runs but the block is cracked. The 504 has been a good tractor and many of the parts are easy to find. Other parts on it are not so common. I’d appreciate it if you post that front end swap if you end up doing it. I’d like to see it done.

@@P61guy61 I done a few rough measurements and I'm thinking it's a easy fix for the junk 340 steering box issues. I already have the power steering system for the supply and it comes out of the secondary pump in the transmission. Plus I have the big 17 gpm main pump. So fluid capacity is not an issue nor my Fab skills 😂. I'm ready to make a good tractor great.
