I grew up on a 504 and hope to one day find one to own.

The difference between the brakes were the straight letter series had band brakes. They came out with disc brakes on the Supers and that’s what you’ve got. Both are dry. The later big IHs had hydraulically actuated brakes but I believe they still use dry discs.

The draft control raises the plow if it hits a hard spot of dirt and keeps the wheels from spinning out every time you bog down. At least that’s how I understand it. Thanks for the video. I have a 64 IH 504D utility. Yours looks just like my IH 504 utility except for the wheels. Wonder if yours is a 62 model. The Farmall has a frame the engine sits in and the IH uses the crankcase as the frame. Oh, I had a clutch and brake shop burn the lining off my brand new brake discs and they put on better quality material. It stops Much Much better. This new aftermarket stuff isn’t any good sometimes.

I haven't seen a standard model to know the heights difference .the rear are 13-6 by 38 inch rims. I'll have to look and see the VIN number to see the year .but it wasn't but a seven-year run tractor from 61 to 68 and it's only supposed to be like 45 horsepower at drawbar I know the Farmall and the Internationals are two completely different Motors and front axles they don't interchange

@@Poor-old-Podunk-plow-boy The regular 504U has 28 inch tires on the rear, shorter front axle and use flanged rear hubs instead of the bar axles.
