Intermittent fasting - your most popular questions

These are the most popular questions about my intermittent fasting.
Please note that my husband doesn't 'expect a meal' prepared by me - but this is what I am asked daily!
I fast from 2pm until 8am almost every day. At the weekend, I may have a snack one evening. I am fasting for 16 -18 hours per day. Breakfast is at 8am and lunch is around 13:30.
I know how difficult it can be, to get your head around fasting for 14 or more hours per day. It's a complete mind shift from the 3 meals per day, plus snacks that we have been accustomed to over our whole lifetime.
I'm here to encourage you to give intermittent fasting a go. It saves time and money. It's very simple. You just don't eat or drink any calories for an extended amount of time. I ensure that I am fuelled with lots of plant fibre to keep me satiated and my belly feeling happy.
I have no aches and pains, I have lots of energy and I feel better now than when I was in my twenties. Ask me anything, I'm happy to help.
Thanks for stopping by, have a beautiful day.
Gail

I also lost 30 pounds last year by intermittent fasting, and it was fairly easy. I chose mostly a keto plan, not at all plant-based. I love vegetables, but found that carbs interfere with sleep, so I had to go with a low-carb diet. It was a shock to realize that carbs were the reason for sleeping issues I've had for years, and going low-carb was tough. I turned 80 almost a year ago. I do need to get stronger; that's my goal for 2024.

My eating window is from 2 pm to 8 pm. It's easier for me to skip breakfast. I do have bulletproof coffee in the morning, and do Yoga with Adrian on here, I love her and I Jump rope with my ropeless jump rope with PhoenixNation for 10 min. (I started with 5 min and now I'm up to 10) When I do eat around 2 pm I'm not on a special diet but I try and add more veggies and protein and try and eat as close to its natural original source as possible. I also walk my dog, I think being outside daily really helps my mental health too. Thank you for the inspiration. I'm 53 and still in the premenopausal phase.

My natural eating routine would now be considered intermittent fasting, I eat between about 12.30 and 8 pm, but it certainly hasn't helped me with my weight!

It's about calorie deficit, what you eat how much you eat and what time of the day you eat. Following the circadian rhythm of nature and body it becomes easier to lose weight

I realised that I’ve always been doing intermittent fasting! But it wasn’t a thing then. I can remember watching Michael Moseley probably about 12 years ago stating the benefits of fasting. You just need to find the time window that suits you.

I wish it would "fall off" for me. 😢 I've been eating a fiber rich healthy diet and eating between 2pm and 8pm for a month now. The scale has not budged! 😕

If the scale has not budged, then you are either eating too much, or the wrong foods. Don't forget some high fiber foods like beans can add up calorically. If on the otherhand you are working out, it maybe muscle. I recently lost 'body fat" (notice I didn't say 'weight!). I started moving more, then recently added Gail's jump rope work out and have seen big changes I have gone down a whole size in clothes since February. I personally don't look at the scale regularly, but I just did a check-in after all my clothes were loose and I actually weighed exactly the same. Don't be fixated on the number - scales are demoralizing if you ask me! Measure yourself or go by how your clothes fit instead. Good luck and stick with it. consistency is key!

Myrna - Count me in on that comment. I kinda almost hate it anymore when people say "oh, the weight just fell off," or "the weight just melted off!" Hah. Well, I'm happy for them. But I've never experienced it just falling off of me either. It does take a bit of patience. Like my hubby likes to remind me, "ya didn't gain all in one night." Okay, gotta go smack him now. LOL.

Yes! Don't drive yourself nuts with number. Base your results on how you feel and how your clothes fit. And be honest with yourself. You know when you're eating wrong!
