Great content, knowledgable and unbiased -- I just subscribed. I think it bares mentioning that the ChiaoGoo Spin cables will not become unscrewed because the swivel join eliminates the torque. With arthritis in both hands, I can knit up to about an hour with a traditional join before my hands hurt. With the Spin cable, I can knit up to about 10 hours without pain. That's because the torquing puts a lot of pressure on the hands and fingers which are constantly fighting the torque. You may not notice why yo get tired unless you have a problem with your hands to begin with. My friends say they just get fidgety after a while and go do something else. When I bought my ChiaoGoo set several years ago I immediately bought extra Spin cords and have only ever had trouble with 1Spin cord. It was replaced right away. I sent them a picture of the break and that was enough. The red cords are great for storing other projects or parts of projects. I design and knit at least 12 sweaters a year with this set and usually only use the 8" an 14" cords because I knit in the round (bottom up-completely seamless) and the shorter cords allow for much faster knitting because of less time taken to pull the stitches into position. The best thing is you can try out one cord and 1 pair of needles with either company and use them for a project to decide for yourself before jumping into the deep end of the investment pool. Cheers ❣️😎

Hi there! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to post such a thoughtful and informative comment. I have avoided the spins because I was worried that the stitches would get caught at the join because of the little break needed to accommodate the spin feature. I am glad to hear that it does not. I am also interested in how the spins make it easier to knit if you have arthritis, as so many of us do. I will get a set of the spins and work with them for a project and do a video review. And wow, 12 original sweater designs a year is really something. What name do you design under? Are your patterns on Ravelry? We have quite a few members if "Team Seamless" in the Crazy for Ewe community. Thanks again for watching, commenting, and subscribing. 5 months after my positive comment on the ChiaoGoos with spin cables, I just got a set of the Addi Rocket2 Squared interchangeable Short Tip Needles and have found them to be great. ( I always go for Short Tips because I always knit sweaters and their sleeves in the round.) With these new Squares my arthritic hands don't tense up. I put in a 12 hour day with them last week with no residual pain. Yes, there is more torque than with ChiaoGoo Spin cables, but it is not nearly as much as with the ChiaoGoo Red Steel cables which are so incredibly stiff, they have to be tightened continually through a project. They are so stiff that I twisted the needles right off of 3 regular Red lace needles. (I knit so much i've taken to listening to books, because it's really hard to juggle a book and knit a lace sweater and stay on the right chart line at the same time.) With Addi's locking needle system, the join is smooth, but takes a few minutes to get used to because it's a little more prominent then screw-in needles. But the trade-off is They Won't Separate Until You Want Them To❣️The cable is lovely too. I just made a completely seamless bottom-up sweater in one piece including the set-in sleeves, using just them and loved the experience. Over all, the messaging square tips win out over the ChiaoGoo and the Addi round set because there is more surface to grab so you don't find yourself pinching tight to hold on as you do with any round surface needle and the squarish edges are rounded off enough to be perfectly comfortable. So your hands don't get fatigued. If anything, the squares make for more uniform stitches, probably because of the lack of the tension build-up in your fingers and wrists, , so you knit at a more regular rate. For those who make use of a life line, these have you covered there too. If you are skeptical, buy just one circular needle to try first. I hope this helps anyone who is on the fence about which set to choose.

thanks for this thoughtful comment. I think the Rocket Squared are amazing! I did a review of them and the interchangeable set. They really do live up to the hype. I have never used the ChiaoGoo Spin, but was curious after your response. And then I got the Rocket Squared set and was in love. I still like the cords on those ChiaoGoo twist, but if I had to choose one set to marry and be with only for the rest of my knitting days, it would be the Addi Rocket Squared!

I got the Addi Click Novel Lace Short Tips Interchangeable set with the squiggly lines and dimples on them -- & I worship them! I have Fibromyalgia, so needles that don't hurt my hands are invaluable. The other great feature -- just as you say, C.E. Brady --- is that these interchangeable needles do not fall apart when I have acres of tiny stitches on them. What a blessing! Thank you, Crazy for Ewe Yarns, for a thorough, balanced video on two esteemed needle companies.

Thanks for a nice, thorough review. I have both Addi and ChiaoGoo interchangeables sets. I just received my Addi Lace Rockets in the pink case yesterday. I also have the regular Turbo and love them! I cannot take a tip that is too pointy. The ChiaoGoo’s are fine for me. I have 2 complete sets of the ChiaoGoo in 5 and 4 inch lengths. I then ordered a single fixed Addi lace circular needle to check out the tip and was very pleased. Not too pointy at all. So I ordered the set. I have so many fixed circulars but really like interchangeables. I first started with Knitter’s Pride. I love the metal they use but the tips are so pointy! Same with the Hiya Hiya regulars and sharps. And I agree about the ChiaoGoo cables. They are the best! I do have trouble accessing the lifeline opening in the Addi cords though. I just put in my own, lol. Thanks again!🌸🌺

Thank you so much for the review. I own Addi Turbos and have used them for many years. However, having recently heard about Chiaogoo I was very happy to see this comparison video. You have covered all the concerns for an avid knitter that may own/use interchangeable needles. You have definitely sold me on the Chiaogoo simply because of the cable. I am just too lazy to soak the nylon cables in warm water to soften them before each use and I find the connector piece to join two cables can skew the curvature of the cable and will also catch the yarn. Thank you! I think I will give the Chiaogoo a go!

Fantastic video. I just got my first interchangeable set but from Lykke (Cypra Copper) and unfortunately did not like them. The cable felt super cheap, thin and like it could snap. The needles felt hollow, uncoated, and rubbing them together I felt grittiness (micro bumps). So, I’m looking into something better. I’m curious about the weight on both and if they feel hollow or solid.. Thank you for everything, by the way! If I am ever in the area I will definitely visit! 🤍

Great presentation. Very clear and very detailed. Thank you very much I am an Addi girl. I own 4 of their sets, the lace in the long and short version, the mix interchangeable set and also the nature olive set. All of them are lovely. Now I am planning to purchase the lace squared ones both the short and the long. The only thing that I have to say is about the needle case. When the elastic is getting old, it gets too Luce. The needles almost fall of their places. I’ve already had to replace a case for my rocket lace long. However the needles are just brand new. So, the quality of this brand is unquestionable. However, I also would like to say that the connectors are very long in my opinion. Addi should find a way of shortening these connectors using the same great engineering. I must confess that I have never tried the Chiagoo sets but I am very curious about the courts. Everybody talks about them. What do you recommend me to try? I thank you very much for your very comprehensive review and would really love to talk with you about needle sets and exchange experiences. Thanks in advance for your help Hope to hear from you

I love the Addis, and I just recently treated myself to a set of the Rocket Squared Click Set. www.crazyforewe.com/products/addi-rocket-squared-click-set I love them so much. they are really comfortable to hold. I did a video on them here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZt2wbV_eKesnMo.html. I love the feel of them and the nice sharp point. The cords on the Chiao Goo are amazing, for sure, and if i were choosing between the Addi Rockets and the Chiao Goo Red lace interchangeable set, I would go with the Chiao Goo, hands down, but if you are choosing between the Chiao Goo and the Rocket Squared, I prefer the Addi Rocket Squared, no question. Plus the cables will work with your other sets. I am sorry about the cases I have the original Turbo Interchangeable set that I purchased when they first came out, and that case and elasctic is still fine It's too soon to tell on the Rocket Squared Set. Did you order them from a local yarn store in the US? I am just asking because sometimes if elastic will deteriorate prematurely if it's stored in a hot environment like a warehouse. . Hi dear Helen, Many thanks for your kind answer. I am from Portugal and I have purchased 2 of my Addi sets here in Portugal and the rest of them from Germany. Maybe it is because here in Portugal is warm. I also own a Rose wood interchangeable needle set with the same great click system by Addi called Edelweiss that was created by the store where I have purchased my Addi sets. I also have a bamboo knitting needle set of 14 cm from a Japanese brand called Ka Seeknit. The needles are greatly polished and very smooth. The joint is seamless and the cords are swiveling cords. Just like the Addi, no tools required. You just screw the needle into the cable. There are three types of size for the courd joints. There is a smaller joint, a medium one and a bigger just like the Chiagoo’s. If you like bamboo needles, you maybe would like to give these needles a try and to record a detailed review on them. There are just a few reviews on this product on KZread and they are well worth it.. More recently, I have purchased the brand new Lykke 9 cm blush set based on the help that you gave me to decide for it. Thank you very much. It did not arrive yet though. I am very curious. I am a blind person and I really love knitting. However, I don’t like too complicated knitting tools that is why I have chosen the brands that were easier for me. I like metal lace and very sleek and soft needles, I like bamboo soft needles and I am also in love with wooden needles. I love all of them. If you say that Addi knitting needles are the softer, The slicker and the quieter of them all, I will go with them. I think that I have already found my perfect brand :) However, if you think that I should try something equally wonderful, please let me know. I did not find any thing to chat on your website. Maybe we could talk through WhatsApp. Kind regards thank you very much

I love the Lykke sets too! They are lovely and pointed and smooth, as you say. Plus that pink is my favorite color. I think you will be very happy with them. Note that all of the Lykke sets are interchangeable with Knitters Pride sets, in case you happen to have any of those. I am much happier with the Lykke quality than with the Knitters Pride wooden needles. i have never had a Lykke snap or break. As I said, I love the Addi Rocket Squared needles because of how easy they are to hold, and because they help prevent the stitches from slipping off, which is the challenge for beginners with very slippery needles. I am not familiar with the Eidelweiss brand. I would be very interested in trying it. I will look into how it is distributed in the US and see if I can get my hands on a set. We are both needle junkies! LOL If you are looking for another set, I would definitely go with Rocket Squared because of how they feel and because they fit with the Addi sets you already have. That would be my recommendation.

Hi there! I am on Instagram to! Yes, I would love to chat or to talk with you about knitting needles. I can see that we are both crazy about them. I don’t have anything from Kniters Pride. The reviews that I have read so far are not the best ones. The brand Edelweiss still exists but these sets are not available anymore. They were a limited edition and have already all disappeared. I was lucky to be able to purchase onthe 12,5 cm version of them. It was an association between Addi and the store where I purchase all my stuff which is called needles and wool. Maybe you could talk with one of the owners and check for the possibility of them producing those sets again. It would be a success so they were really luxurious and lovely. A true work of art. When we talk on Instagram, maybe I’ll make a video call and show mine to you. Many thanks for your response. Kind regards, talk soon

Missed your live because I was busy wrapping lol. I just got a set of addi click rockets squared shorts........the only problems I’ve had so far is the join is snagging on my yarn, the limited sizes, the size written on the needles I heard is just printed on each and will wear off with use (not sure about chia goo ones though as you never mentioned if the sizes were even written on them or how they’re written on each set if they are) the addi case could use some work (I have 2 sets being used on different projects and the needles left in the case are falling out because the elastic holding them in the case is loose), I also am never 100% sure they’re “clicked” in properly because the actual “click” sound is sooooo low I can’t hear it (I’m only 49 and my hearing is fine), and lastly I’m having a hard time finding anywhere online to purchase extra cords and connectors. I do love how nice the square needles are in my hands (my fingers don’t hurt as much as I’m knitting), I love how slippery they are, I love that the tops aren’t too sharp because I use my left index finger to push my needle out of the stitches sometimes, and I like the lifetime warranty. I only wish it come with a needle gauge that has square holes so if or when the needle size does rub off I can actually know the size, a square needle doesn’t fit into the round gauges I have and I own 6 different ones, it truly would be tricky to know if the numbers weren’t on them. I’m thinking of purchasing a handmade case off Etsy that has separate spots for each tip and has each spot labelled with the sizes of the needles then spots for the cables with their sizes written on too, that would be soooo helpful instead of pulling them all out to measure every single time I need a new cable. Also helpful for anyone considering an addi set......the measurements they give for the cable length INCLUDES the when the needles are attached, so a 24” cable that they say is 24” is 24” WHEN the needles are attached. Some companies just tell you the actual length of the cord alone. Hope some of this info helps people out there. I have asked for the entire set of Chia goo for Christmas as well as the small set for socks too but my husband purchased the Addis for me ahead because I had a project on the needles (60” cable too even!) that fell apart on me and I dropped over 50 stitches TWICE!! That taught me not to be cheap.....but I purchased 18 sets of bamboo circulars for $20 that were 60” for shawls but I had no clue that you can attach interchangeable cables together to make longer cables than 32”!!! Here I had a Susan bates set that I probably could have did that with already but they’re not great either, I knit too much to knit with cheap needles honestly! Here’s to hoping I get a few sets of chia goo for Christmas lol.

There are lots and lots of simple things you can make without any pattern at all. Scarves and blankets and other things where the size is not so important. Things that need to fit or be a certain size need to have a pattern. It doesn’t have to be a pattern that somebody else wrote. It can be something you wrote, but you would need to know ahead of time how many stitches to cast on and what increases and decreases to do to create the size and shape you intend.

My concern when I purchased my ChiaoGoo set over the Addi Clicks which I got 2 years ago, was surgical stainless steel for the ChiaoGoo. I found a disclaimer on an Addi site that states for the last year their needles are nickel-free. The problem with this is that two years ago, what were the Clicks jaded with? All manufacturers want their distributors to sell the product they have as they don’t make money getting old needle sets back. I have metal sensitivity, and am sensitive to nickel and aluminum. On some of Addi’s Sock needles sold on Amazon, the packaging states that they are nickel plated, others do not have this statement, they have NO statement of what they are made from. My dad died of Alzheimer’s and I eat more carefully, it am conscious to use natural materials over synthetic materials. When a manufacturer does not state up front or label year of manufacture with Addi when they stopped using nickel in their needles, I just want to be sure of what I am getting. I do have some surgical stainless steel in my left leg which remains as the screws were too close to the nerve to remove. This has not bothered me, but if I wear a ring made of nickel, I get a rash, I have gotten a rash with some needles when I was not so attentive to what they were made of. I had had a set of interchangeable needles by Boye which were aluminum, and when I realized the problem, I gave them to a thrift store. I have a bamboo interchangeable of bamboo by Knitter’s Pride, which I love but I knit more now with the ChiaoGoo. I have recovered from crippling arthritis in my hands. My hands also used to be incredibly moist and sweaty, which when I gave up all dairy, stopped, thank God. But if you have moist or sweaty hands, your pores are more open to absorbing ions from whatever material you are working with. Make the material a safe one as you do not know in the long run how it is going to affect your brain. I saw first hand Alzheimer’s up close and personal with my dad who had this over 15 years before he died. I do NOT want this to happen to me. My mother had crippling arthritis. I know I have that under control, the Alzheimer’s was affecting my dad at 67 already which is the age I am currently. I am doing okay mentally. I want to keep it that way. The more people realize about degenerative conditions and poisoning from their environment, the more companies, in order to compete, must offer safer products and must, must, must, offer their products in the safest material. If Addi was doing this, they’d have it on the information in all their sales campaigns as it is a selling point. Why it is often hidden, the information hard to find, is why I will not buy metal needles from Addi but I do have bamboo Flex-Flips because I would not buy their metal needles. I hope Addi gets the message. People are finding out that it’s better to avoid exposure than to expect some other toxic medication is going to make them well. Only natural products should be eaten and drank so we are resistant to all diseases. I have not gotten the flu or even a cold since I changed my diet. I am now vegan. I sight-see my wheelchair as I do not have to use it. I had it because I could not walk.

The chords with needles on both sets make the same lengths - 24, 32, and 40” needles.

Should I get the rocket or rocket squared? Which do you prefer

Everyone loves those Rocket Squared. I think you will love them too. They are great regardless of your skill level. For beginners, the ridges keep the stitches in place, so you get the smoothness without the feeling that your stitches are going to slide right off the tip if you need them. For more advanced knitters, they’re simply easier to hold, and that long narrow pointy tip is a joy
