I decided to use cedar shakes as the roof for my wood fired pizza oven. To achieve the overall look I was going for, I also decided to use copper for my flashing.
For those wondering, yes this is safe. When using a combustible material, you need to ensure it is far enough away from anything hot. Due to the 5 layers of insulation around the oven, the underside of the roof decking never gets above normal temperatures. Please use caution when using combustible materials around your wood fired oven.
