That looks like a piece of art. A very sturdy piece of art. I’m intrigued to know how the heat exiting the front arch will impact, if at all, on the steel work? I know from experience that my front arch brick work, which is beyond the flue, does get extremely hot.

Good question. I haven't noticed it being overly hot, but I also haven't measured. I might have to make a quick short showing the temp inside and outside.

Very good and detailed video, I'm thinking on using the 18-gauge metal studs for Island structure. How workable is the 18 gauge (with hand tools) for that purpose?

Hello! 18 gauge is meant for structural applications and in my opinion is not workable with hand tools. It is some really thick and strong stuff! I have a video on my channel that shows how I framed my outdoor kitchen island using 20 gauge steel studs. Plenty strong and you can use hand tools for cutting.

1/2” Durock on the walls. 5/8” plywood for the roof.

Where did you end up getting the 18 gauge studs?

I called around to local building material suppliers until I found one that worked with residential customers.
