Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
A wet oven floor will not only cause poor oven performance, but it may also ruin the insulation under your floor tiles. Simple, cheap mosaic tiles are the trick to ensuring your wood fired pizza oven floor stays dry!
The oven I am installing is the Forno Bravo Premio100

Love your work! Question, is 4” of insulation board needed? Seems like overkill. Wouldn’t 2” be enough??

Thanks! 2” is sufficient. I wanted to try to retain as much heat as possible, so I went with 4”. Given how expensive the overall project is, the upgrade was is pretty small.
I’m glad I found your videos. I’m about to pour the floor for my oven and I found your form work in the previous video pretty handy. Did you purchase a kit for the oven? If not what are you using for the cooking surface? I’d like to use larger high heat bricks for my floor versus herringbone a bunch of smaller bricks. I’m not using insulation board, instead I’m poring half the floor in concrete and the other half (top half) perlite mix. Thanks again for the videos!

Thanks! The insulation board is from Forno Bravo. www.fornobravo.com/store/fb-board-36242/
Whats the inside size of the oven, how many inches?

The inside dimensions of the oven is 40 inches.
Are yku afraid of the tile cracking from the weight and therefore causing your oven to shift? Neat idea nonetheless

Hi! Good question. If you calculate the circumference of the oven multiplied by the thickness which is three inches, you get about 125 square inches of the oven touching the base. Divide the 1,300 pounds of the oven by that 125 square inches and you get about 10 pounds per square inch of weight resting on the tile. This doesn’t take into account some of the load the insulation board will spread which is between the tile and oven. Even at 10 pounds per square inch, that is well below the crush rating of the ceramic tile. 100% safe and peace of mind of no water soaking my oven! 😁

@@blood_sweat_and_beers good point and thank you for explaining the calculation. I am looking to put the premio in a similar setup as yours this spring and I've done a lot of research already. To be honest I never came across the floral getting wet problem. But I'm sure it exists so it will be something I will probably implement as well

@@gamatoutsikos good luck! It is a great oven! I would recommend the tile. That insulation board is a water sponge. In a setup like mine with a roof, water is less of a concern, but you can only build it once, so I went with the tile.

@@blood_sweat_and_beers I might go with the exposed dome and maybe tile the dome. It would definitely be a concern in my case. I assume the oven does not come with the insulating boards right? It was an extra purchase?

Hi! Yes the oven kit came with the insulation boards.
