Thanks for the installation video. A body shop installed bumper during a repaint of my grandson's XJ. We need to pull it off and check the install as the rear bumper is very noisy going down the road. Rattles like crazy and sounds like it is going to fall off every time you hit a bump. May be that it is just too heavy for an XJ to handle or could be slop in the construction of the swing out bracket, but we need to make sure it was installed correctly. Regarding the license plate, we were able to drill and tap three 1/4-20 holes in right side of tire mount for a license plate bracket. Worked out real well. The third brake light is clearly visible above the tire, so there was no need to add an additional brake light. Enjoyed the video. Great job. djbnola

That shit looks like it's going to vibrate like hell on the trails and bend the sheet metal it's bolted too. You gotta have a connection to the frame rails just like that uhaul hitch was configured.

It may be a better move to relocate the license plate to the inside of the spare tire so it’s visible. That would also lower the shear force on the bolts.

Did you need the washers after mounting the wheel/tire? seems like the weight leans the arm back farther than you put for washers?

Yes, needed washers, (in this case) there wa no way the tire carries would clear the license plate light.

What's the tow capacity of that bumper?

Any way to get some measurements from this? I'm trying to figure out how far it hangs down and how far it sticks out from the tailgate. I bought the Smittybilt setup but the company I got it from doesn't have the carrier itself so I'm thinking of sending the bumper back and picking this one up

Hi Lift would be very easy, you could fab up some brackets to mount the Jerry cans, or ROTO packs may be easier. Thanks for watching..

There strong, if you wanted you could weld them and would be very strong.

Just order this.. so is like that on all the eag bumpers.. I can't get the bolt holes to line up so I can mount the bumper

What’s the towing capacity of that hitch? Does the tire carrier rattle?

I believe it’s 5000 lbs you want to make sure to use the factory nut strip. Since the XJ is a un-body and if your going to tow heavy loads I would fab up or buy some bumber tie in bracket to help out on the load.

I bought this thing and it seems strong but the fit and finish is horrible. It sticks out like an inch passed the body on both sides even though it looks like they were trying to match it. The area under the tail lights doesn’t line up at all and the tire carrier smashes the hatch

We had the same issue with the tire carrier hitting the license plate hatch light/wiper blade. The video showed how we spaced it out using some washer. The bumper tie-in brackets are a little short.

The bumper is doing great going to get the rim and tire that match the other this week. Thanks President Trump. Brakes all around Yeah.Thanks 5150 Guys Great Work.

Yes, this bumper replaces the factory hitch, I don’t believe you could have both installed at the same time.

Don’t waste your money on this bumper. It’s so weak that I can’t carry a 33” spare. So I don’t carry a spare and it’s so weak that I can’t even use the 2” receiver. I called EAG and asked them if they had any kind of extra support brackets to help hold the bumper up and they said no. I told them that they need to engineer something better because it’s dead weight that serves no purpose. One of the biggest wastes of money you can throw away
