Thanks for the great video! I tried going down the path of converting the ESXi VM. I got it to working, but would not recommend. How do you update the server? Do you just do apt update/upgrade, re-run the GNS3 script, or do you trash the VM and have to start from scratch again? My hope is apt update/upgrade or re-run the GNS3 script options.

Ohh exciting! Yeah I used the ESXi image for a while, exciting to hear a comparison! I can make a video about updating this week, but this is the short version: Because we added the repos its apt update. you can do an 'apt update ' to refresh your package database then 'apt search gns3' to see the current version that's available. The update does not go live until you reboot all associated services, i just reboot the entire VM. Takes less than 3 minutes.

I could do an eve-ng video, I also have it running on ProxMox currently. Truthfully I find myself using GNS3 more and focus most of my time there. If I remember correctly its all installed from one ISO, if you want to do it you would be able to follow the first half of this video with the correct ISO. I have the server provisioned the same way as in this video.. I might put it on the list though :)

Hi, I followed the instructions, however, I install a remote GNS3 server on ubuntu 22.04 The installation has been completed successfully. About GNS3: I choose the option: run application on remote server. I upload cisco IOS 7200 through Dynamic preference. I uploaded it and it was successful. However, I need upload image of ne40huawei and I have problem with QUEMU. Output error is as follows:The selected server does not support KVM. A Linux server or the GNS3 VM running in VMware is required. I hope you help me

Have you been able to get your proxmox vms to interact with your GNS3 server? It would be great to use those vms instead of new instances of the same thing. Edit: Great video! Super easy to follow.

Im not entirely sure why you would need to modify a configuration file one the server, I have always interacted with it via the desktop interface. Maybe a question for their fourms?

hi, I would like to add a remote vm (hosted on proxmox as the gns3 linux -gns3 server-) as a node topology. Is this possible?

You can can setup KVM images as VMs and run them inside of GNS3. What I usually do is connect to the VM using a virtual bridge, so you wont see the vm but you can connect to the network its on. I am not affiliated with GNS3 or its development, however there is a web ui, but I do not use it. You can ask over at the GNS3 forums, they are super nice.

i have problem with running qemu images, i get no console output (black screen). Device are up and running but console gives nothing. Do you have any idea what could be the issue?

Can you check the VCPU type on the ProxMox server and the console type? The proxmox server should be set to host, and you want console set to vnc. I can make a video going over these if you need it.

The problem is in the newest kernel.. I got the problem when using Proxmox 7.1 but when I downgrade to version 7. 0 everything works normal..
