    I followed your steps but still can't get traffic across the bridge. If I use the server's interface through the cloud I get an IP address but I still have a slow connection which is the issue I'm trying to solve with the bridge.

    Dude great video. One question... Im trying to use 1:1 NAT for my IPsec connection, do you know if I can do this same configuration (using VIPs, 1:1) or if I can do it using something like a outbound NAT?. Im struggling to set this up using just a Phase 2 tunnel, and try to NAT/route everything thro. Thank b4hand

  • @regularnetworks3570
    @regularnetworks35706 ай бұрын

    Are you trying to NAT the traffic going across your tunnel? My assumption is you would use a VIP or NAT pool. Fortinet also uses the term VIP so finding information may be tricky, let us know what you find!

    Hi James, can we do the SIP Trunk routing via pfsense?

  • @regularnetworks3570
    @regularnetworks35708 ай бұрын

    SIP trunking, do you mean port forwarding for your SIP provider? In most installations I have been involved in as long as phones have layer 3 connectivity back to the BPX everything works. Take a look at these two links, one is from the pfsense community threads, and the other is a video on port forwarding. If you have more details I would be happy to try and help! forum.netgate.com/topic/96755/overview-on-configuring-pfsense-firewall-nat-for-voip-sip-phones/3 kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y414uMebes-tkrA.html

  • @regularnetworks3570
    @regularnetworks3570 Жыл бұрын

    You can can setup KVM images as VMs and run them inside of GNS3. What I usually do is connect to the VM using a virtual bridge, so you wont see the vm but you can connect to the network its on. Here is a video I made about that. Ask on one of the GNS forums and let us know if you learn anything else! kzread.info/dash/bejne/aaFrmbN6nNrfYdI.html

    You call subnets strokes ?

  • @regularnetworks3570
    @regularnetworks3570 Жыл бұрын

    In the ISP space its short hand to denote the size of a subnet in cider notation. The size of the subnet is usually more important than the actual addresses in the subnet, dynamic routing protocols handle the actuall addresses (you do have to staticky set them on the interfaces though.) It is commonly written as '/30' (point to point link). The enterprise world usually just uses /24, so there is less of a need to define different subnets lenghts. Now thats for IPv4, IPv6 is all /64s. There are some RFCs that say use a /127 on point to point links, and others that say dont (it happens in practice and is just fine). Subnetting IPv6 beyond a /64 is strongly discouraged. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the great video! I tried going down the path of converting the ESXi VM. I got it to working, but would not recommend. How do you update the server? Do you just do apt update/upgrade, re-run the GNS3 script, or do you trash the VM and have to start from scratch again? My hope is apt update/upgrade or re-run the GNS3 script options.

  • @regularnetworks3570
    @regularnetworks3570 Жыл бұрын

    Ohh exciting! Yeah I used the ESXi image for a while, exciting to hear a comparison! I can make a video about updating this week, but this is the short version: Because we added the repos its apt update. you can do an 'apt update ' to refresh your package database then 'apt search gns3' to see the current version that's available. The update does not go live until you reboot all associated services, i just reboot the entire VM. Takes less than 3 minutes.
