GNS3 server setup on Proxmox
A guide for getting GNS3 up and running on Proxmox.
GNS3 can be a great tool to start learning networking without having to get loads of hardware.
You can ofcourse run it straight on your pc, but i like to be able to access it from multiple machines.

Commands used:
Transfere from Windows to Proxmox:
scp '.\GNS3 VM.ova' root@172.18.120.20:/tmp
Connect to Proxmox:
ssh root@172.18.120.20
Change to tmp directory:
cd /tmp
List contents in directory:
ls
Extract server files:
tar xvf "GNS3 VM.ova"
Import GNS3 as a VM
qm importovf 101 "GNS3 VM.ovf" nvme_ssd

Hello. Thank you for the message! That seems like a fun idea. I should also have made a video on how to properly connect to the GNS3 network with outside resources. Once I finish a certification I'm working on i will hopefully get to make more videos!
Thanks exactly what i needed to start my network lab on my proxmox. I have a question, can the appliance be installed on server that hosts the GNS3 VM or it must be on the client side ?

Hello there. I'm glad the video helped you! The appliances are installed on the server. You just use the client to set them up and upload them. Any client on other machines or the web ui will be able to access them.

Thank you 4 this Video! Didn't know of gns3... now I do, seems awesome. Very informative, inspiring and well explained !!! Before I start my own Research :) Is it possible to route traffic through this "VM-Environment" ? WAN (PXNIC1) -> VME (Filter)-> LAN(PXNIC2)... That would be MINDBLOWING :)

Hello. Thank you for the kind words! I have not used that function myself, but you have an appliance named cloud, which is meant to make your gns3 network available from your lan or even the internet :-)
