It wouldn't have caught the big fish. If you look at most of the Encrochat cases, none of them were major, global players like these guys. Mostly local, mid-level suppliers were caught on that network. The further up the chain it goes, the further away from any kind of commercially available device will be the voices of the actual bosses. There are probably people above the likes of the Kinahans, or at least protecting them (or were), and they are probably closer to "alphabet agencies" than to the streets.

An intuitively childish but, I think, relevant question: how the hell do these people meet each other? Even if you're "under world famous" in Ireland for example, I have to imagine that it's one of hell of a task to somehow get in contact with a distributor/producer in South America. These are the little things that intrigue me about the underworld. How did the first meet go? Who vouched for whom? That kind of thing.

Marbella, Malaga, Tangier, Marrakech, everything is build with the moroccans. Sorry but the gypsys never they will only get a finger.Moroccan families and the hash and cocaine lines are powerful. The problem isn't just these guys. Even if you take them out. Their product is still on the street. People party and use drugs much more than they used to. Almost every student or person I've worked with took on hard drugs. People aren't just getting high of a joint. The sensation and thrill is much deeper. So politicians might as well accept it and make it legal, or have a drug crackdown on its civilians.

Drugs that are legalised are so boring . ?? It's the buzz of been outside the rules of society & curiosity that make it seem glamorous; plus drugs these days are crap , more additives than anything else . It pays more to keep the status quo , as you said theres always someone to fill the breach when someone else goes down or missing etc . I seen a case where the dealer got 6 months ??? the little user got 2 yrs in the Circuit Court ?? Thanks ur honour . Old fkers . Take care man .

You are spot on. But not only that its also because its getting normalized to use drugs now, smoking weed between teenagers even in countries where its illegal is like smoking cigs back then. Its very very accepted and no one cares about it, and that opens doors to using other more hardcore drugs because if its illegal in your country then you prob know a illegal dealer that will only make you go further down the rabbit hole.

There are some main sources he is using; like 'Het Parool' from the Netherlands and Crime World/SundayWorld from Ireland. The main characters (Ridouan Taghi and friends: Mocro Maffia and Daniel Kinahan), and lawsuits (like the 'Marengo-proces', '26Koper' and 'Eris' lawsuits) are from these countries. So the most research is done by the law enforcement and journalists from the Netherlands, you should check the hack of the PGP phones, these messages are CRAZY

It’s all out in the open (and to be found by the work of some Dutch crime reporters like mainly Paul Vugts and Wouter Laumans who wrote several books on the subject and are having a podcast. But also Martin Kok who was an ex-criminal himself and who just recklessly started throwing names online (eventually was intimidated with hail of bullets, a bomb under his car and liquidated after a failing headshot first at close range, images of which are online) Our legendary main crime reporter (Peter R. de Vries) was liquidated by presumably the mocromafia last year, just like a lawyer and brother of the key witness of whom he became a confidant..
