Inside The Raid Of The Palestine Congress In Berlin | F. Edlinger Interviews D. Reinisch

Just when you thought that repressions, cancel culture, and defamations can't get much worse in Europe, there comes along Germany and shatters even the remaining bit of norms left about the "liberal democracy". On the weekend of April 14, activists and scholars had planned to hold a congress in Berlin to discuss the plight of the Palestinians, but the event was dissolved by special police forces within only 2 hours, some of its speakers were arrested and others were barred from entering Germany, including Yanis Varoufakis, the former Greek finance minister and current greek politician. Here is the full story with Dieter Reinich, interviewed by Fritz Edlinger (our colleague and friend in Vienna).

In USA, there is a fine constitution, but the courts are very deferential to the State. Germany developed democratic principles thought to lawyers etc., but when raison d'etat is raised, at this time it is hard to tell how deferential German judges will be. Note the prosecutor in the building of the conference... Like judges, prosecutors are lawyers hired by the state on merit basis, so they should not be more biased than judges. Authorities can find the most indoctrinated police in the federal republic, most biased prosecutors, the cases will be assigned to biased judges. Dark times, but KZread still allows to report on it -- will they ban Neutrality Studies in Germany, on the request of authorities?

Whether a country uses democracy or not shouldn't be our question, as though the answer is either "yes" or "no": We should ask how **legitimate** is the democracy; but then, we'll start to ask, what makes a democratic system legitimate, and it's that question the Plutocrats don't want asked.

You're mixing up Palestinians and Hamas. People are anti-Hamas, anti-Hezbollah and anti Islamic fanaticism. Hamas' own charter when it took power in Gaza was the annihilation of the Jews in Israel and the establishment of an Islamic state. After they were elected, Hamas tracked down any opposition to it in Gaza and tortured, imprisoned, and killed those Palestinians who opposed it. They plundered the billions of dollars in aid sent to Gaza and used it for their war against Israel. I was working in Iran back in 1976 when the fanatical Islamists hijacked the peoples' revolution against the Shah and the USA. Intellectuals, socialists, and women were their first victims. Many people I knew were murdered. These are the sort of people you are supporting when you support Hamas and Hezbollah.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🗣️ Introduction and overview of the Palestine conference in Berlin* - Introduction to the discussion about a recent conference on the Palestine-Gaza war in Berlin that was dissolved by German police. - The discussion aims to provide evidence of contradictions between the German government/media and the German public's attitudes on international issues. 02:38 *🇩🇪 Chronological account of the events at the conference* - Arrival at the pre-conference press event and the hostile atmosphere towards the organizers. - Planned venue and schedule for the conference, and the police disruptions from the beginning. - Police downgrading the capacity of the conference room and declaring it a demonstration, leading to increased police presence. - Accredited journalists allowed to enter, while non-accredited ones were let in through the back. 09:44 *🚨 Interruption and shutdown of the conference* - The police cut the power to the conference, claiming they needed to review the video content before allowing it to continue. - After prolonged negotiations, the police announced the end of the conference and the clearing of the hall. - The organizers were not allowed to move the conference to another location or reschedule it. 16:53 *🚔 Police harassment of activists and journalists* - Arrests and aggressive behavior by the police towards the activists and journalists leaving the venue. - Detailed account of the police harassment, including the arrest of a young woman who suffered a panic attack in the police van. - Difficulties in communicating with the police and obtaining a clear statement about the reasons for the arrests. 26:11 *📢 Large protest rally and ongoing solidarity camp* - The organizers held a protest rally in front of the Berlin city hall, which the speaker estimates to have had around 5,000-6,000 participants. - Continued police harassment and arrests during the protest rally. - Establishment of a Palestine solidarity camp in a park near the German parliament, which was also subject to police restrictions and partial clearing. 29:10 *🗽 Concerns about restrictions on civil liberties and the dismantling of democratic rights* - Discussion of the legal ambiguity around "activity bans" being used against figures like the former Greek finance minister and a University of Glasgow professor. - Concerns that European governments are suppressing political opinions and exceeding constitutional limits, which could benefit far-right groups rather than the democratic center. - Suggestion that these actions pose a danger of gradually dismantling democratic fundamental rights in Europe. 32:57 *🤝 Implications for the German political and media landscape* - The issue is no longer just about the actions of the Israeli military, but the implications for the German system and the potential alliance between the political and journalistic mainstream. - Concerns about the over-interpretation and expansion of laws and regulations, such as declaring private events as "demonstrations" subject to police control. - The need to apply the brakes on these concerning tendencies and ensure respect for human rights and the constitutional order, to prevent the establishment of a "European dictatorship." This is the re-writing of German history, takes us back to the early days of Nazi Germany when the SS started its brutality against its population to stamp its authority. People of Germany your inaction back then is still being felt in your country today. This governments works for outside and corporate interests rather than its own population, hence when intellectuals address your population it is seen as a threat to government stability. People of Germany this is your chance to correct this, remove this government and must take more initiative and a greater role in this new way of governance, to never allow this to happen again for the sake of the future generations. THIS HAS TO HAPPEN OR GET USED TO SEEING YOUR CHILDREN STARVE AND THEIR ENTIRE FUTURE REDUCED TO A UNBEARABLE LIFESTYLE. PS. This short leader of Germany takes a business delegation to China to protect their interests and was treated like a doormat by the Chinese people because he is a deplorable leader, we from the East stand with you in allegiance and support. REMOVE ALL FOREIGN FORCES FROM YOUR COUNTRY AND RECLAIM IT FOR THE SAKE OF THE KIDS..
