I don't agree with all of Yianis positions but i see a man with ethos unlike the vast majority of greek elected politicians. Keep fighting Yianis, whatever the result

People like you, Sir and Ms. Naomi Klein , and some others all over the world (Roger Waters, Jeremy Corbyn, Abby Martin, Miko Peled, M.Pappe, Gideon Levy, N. Finkelstein, JL Melenchon, S.Sarrendon, people in Ireland, South Africa, Spain, etc ...etc ) are needed to run this world. Many elections are taking place in many countries....it's up to us to reverse the"illusion of democracy" and make it "genuine democracy" by voting for the good candidates! Palestine will be free! 19:37 Mind blown. It never occurred to me that the Germans learned an algorithm rather than a principle! I just though they knew better but could not see their hypocrisy. Perhaps Israel’s lesson was “we were victims. We deserve acts of contrition forevermore.” Neither learned that “othering” is the generator function. That is shocking to me. You’re right. It’s a teaching problem. It’s a learning problem. It’s a consciousness problem. To me, this is at the heart of the metacrisis. In the 70s when we learned not to litter, we learned a rule. We didn’t learn that our actions have consequences over time.

This is so weird for me as a native Berliner, that you got thrown out, Yannis. This used to be a place where everybody could freely express themselves. I had a jewish grandmother, Esther Goldhammel, holocaust survivor. Until the end of her days she would hold her hand over her head, trying to pull out the evil spirits, because her mind couldn't cope. And STILL she said I shall never fall into the anti-muslim propaganda and see every human being for what they are individually. She said I shall travel the world and never ever trust someone who is justifying murder. Also she was criticizing the zionist movement - for that she was harassed so badly she had to change her name into Jahn.

21:00 Perhaps the most astonishing aspects of what is going on in Palestine is the fact that with the holocaust we could have had the 'excuse' at the time that 'we didn't know' whareas now it is happening in plain sight and as such it is way more frightening. Some other types of genocidal situations are happening at the same time which we even ignore such as the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaidjan.

When the Anglos comprehend that they are not the exceptional ones and the Jews realize or admit they are not the chosen ones the bullshit will stop. Like you say this is not new. The British and Americans have managed to blame everyone but themselves for their own sins. Stealing other people's land and resources, carpet bombing German civilians, nuking and fire-bombing Japanese civilians, blaming the Boer for apartheid, covering up the Holomodor, starving the Indians, hunting Aborigines, invading Iraq, murdering leaders that are not compliant - their crimes are many but seem to be acceptable when framed in the quest to bring liberty, freedom and democracy to the unwashed masses (who get to vote for their tormentor as a reward). Part of the problem (as Yanis should know) is the Anglo inability to speak another language and by extension understanding different cultures.

Great podcasts and great insights. As a South African I missed your mentioning of the Boer wars and the women and children in concentration camps you said the British invented. A mention to that would have been informative as well. It gave rise to the Afrikaner government who came to power in 1948 and introduced Apartheid, a flawed idea of separate development. Power, money, greed, control, manipulation are at play in the world. And we all have skin in the game. The tipping point as yet to be reached. Looking forward to the future. Thank you for your fight. A Luta Continua.

You would think Jews would be extra cafeful to present their best humanitarian foot forward, to dispel the age long contentions held against them, to improve there lot on the world stage, but they don't, they try to take over and repress. Well, let's see how this shakes out.

The repeating cycle that causes the geopolitical and social conditions we both feed and feed off, is a 'culture' we self police and reinforce, ourselves. This 'thing' actually is like a many-headed beast that has, in effect, possessed humanity 'forever'. Or so it seems. It is a huge evolutionary stumbling block, a distraction from what truly matters. We live in ignorance rather than consciousness, and this is both the larger and underlying issue that perpetuate species failure. The clarity and intuition achieved here is necessary. Necessary to facilitate change and redesign of systems that enslave us. To find a rational path out of this nightmare. Learning through suffering is no longer a rational way for our species to proceed/evolve. Thank you all. Please please do not stop trying. What we hold in our heart and place in our mind, matters.

I think Naomi is being simplistic. International power games are not ethical. I think Biden has shifted a LOT. The American people are disgusted by Israel/Netanyahu. The genocide in Gaza is horrific. But there is the Mid-East instability and power brokers that have to be considered as well. None of this mess is occurring in a vacuum. But I am grateful to hear these points of view.

We are over-ruled and over-regulated to the point that most people have given up on real thinking. Go to work, tick all the boxes you're expected to, go home, get paid. Quiet life. Try thinking or questioning, get a reputation as a trouble maker, worry about losing your job. This applies to so many arenas now: politicians, doctors (bee in my bonnet about those at the moment), all large corporates, many places of learning. Endless. Stops all creativity, and achieving meaningful communication and outcomes. Creates societies of automatons focused on what the screen says. We won't notice when AI takes over.

I enjoyed this dialogue and recognized Raoul efforts to try to bring us further along. Yet, as nice as conversation can be it hasn’t the vitality we need to move forward in changing the situation we all are in. A great thinker Nadera Shaloub-Kervokian has written every thing we need to know about the situation in Gaza, the necro-terrorist politics of Israel, the new active feminist perspective we need to infuse our thinking with, the reflection a Bookchin brought to social ecological democracy, what women are effectively doing in Iran, in Afghanistan, in Kurdistan with their hands, soul and courage. Socialism has been vegetating far far too long in a bourgeois frame of mind. So it was interesting to a point but it wasn’t feeding the will for change as Iranian women have.. and yes, there is a very high price to pay for change. It’s not comfortable, it’s need work of the heart i.e. collective courage. We need to head that way.

About 9:30 Yanis comments on the bank bailouts. Contentious at the time and to this day, no doubt, and certainly seemed like a much bigger number at the time ($700b for the banks). What hurt was no bailout for the foreclosed. Definitely a mishandled crisis. The ACA was more contentious (and costlier). The Afghanistan was only 7 years old, and Iraq 5 years old at that time, and Syria hadn't even begun rumbling yet. The wars are pretty roundly panned these days across the isles for various reasons, but when you inflate their debt, they are half the national debt. They make the bailouts look like a speed bump. On the order of around 50 times more expensive, and it's half the millstone around the neck of the debt today. 2008 was definitely mishandled, but in conjunction of what became of the wars, it was insult to injury in terms of economic impact. Yanis not wrong, out of touch liberalism is in its halcyon then and now, I just wanted to add some hindsight context to the egregiousness of the bailouts, it wasn't the sum of money that hurt, it was who got bailed out and who didnt get bailed out that hurt, in top of the lost limbs and economic limbs caused by the wars. Republican conservatives probably wouldn't mind "socialism" if it actually benefitted them, but instead it's inept liberalism and it hurts all of us.

Was very touched by the podcast, still I am missing two major forces in the struggle for our freedom. I think it is not enough to criticize Europ and the rest of the west, without mentioning the Chinese Asian force and the Arab/muslim forces. Especially in the Arab/Muslim forces every human right is ignored and every violation is accepted and not spoken about. This is quite scary for me.
