Who should Chelsea go for now? 👇

Probably Nagelsmann is best. Whoever it is, we need someone who understands the importance of when to be the bad cop and when to be the good cop.

@@musicbyarron The irony of appointing Nagelsmann would be that he was judged to have failed at Bayern in turning a positional system into a Red Bull system. In 6-9 months time, Nagelsmann could find himself getting fired at Chelsea for the exact same reason.

All comes down to the shocking lack of strategy from the Americans. Spending 600m but no striker. When cfc have had a clinical striker like drogba or Costa they have won titles!
Chelsea should get De Zerbi, because that would be hilarious.

What’s laughable is that De Zerbi was available at the time of sacking. Not saying he was guaranteed to succeed here but it’s speaks to how crappy that managerial search was when they sacked Tuchel. It raises so many questions.

Mark Chapman looks like Potter and Klopp had a very tired child.
The idea that this is the "end of his aspirations of being a top champions league manager" is absolutely laughable. He's only managed in professional leagues in England for 5 years, risen from Swansea to Chelsea in that time, is only 47 years old so he potentially has another 20 years in his management career.

Definitely not the end but it would be hard for big clubs to go for him. I can only think Tottenham because that would be a good opportunity for him. Not much pressure there but still have a chance to go for a UCL spot next season.

He would need to raise a Brighton type of club into CL football for it to happen. He went too quickly to Chelsea and was about to have a fantastic season with Brighton. Bad decision career wise, but great one financially lol

With all the rose tinted glasses regarding tuchel, I think a lot of people forget that tuchel encountered the exact same problems with this squad and chances, it started halfway through his previous season, and it continued right up until he was sacked

I agree... Chelsea at the end of his time was devoid of ideas and involved a lot of passing through the back and no vertical passing. However I think Tuchel didn't have a chance to build his own team like klopp and Guardiola had. I think he must have thought he will be given that chance considering he won the CL with Lampard's squad and managed the club through the troubled waters during ownership change. I think that might be the reason he didn't wanted to get involved in processes other than coaching with the new ownership.

Don't give a manager a 5 year contract if you have no intention of even giving him a pre season. The owners are a joke, scatter gun recruitment, over blown and imbalanced squad.
Marcelo Lippi was Serie B/C coach before Juventus. You don't have to be a big team manager before you become a big team manager.

Italians tend to be able to transition into the big jobs much more comfortably than English managers do. Conte, Pioli etc. Whereas let's say Eddie Howe went to Liverpool, he'd be gone in a few months. They just don't seem to be able to make the step up, probably because they don't have full support of fans and media from the outset so there's never the confidence around the team

If you can put Chelsea in top 4 because you are a bad manager, you won't survive the PL with Brighton at tall. Almost unwatchable. I'd been looking forward to a podcast on the subject.
He’s an average coach. While results were bad, Potter’s midtable mentality ultimately got him sacked but isn’t talked about at all. He still thinks Brighton level talk and results suffice. His demeanor, the way he talked in the press, it never felt like he understood what being a Chelsea manager meant. Too much praise for the opposition, kept making excuses, and saying it’s very difficult. All too soft and you could see it on the pitch. A proper coach would’ve had a more winning, positive mindset and accepted more responsibility.
Adam crafton.. thank you for talking sense... The worse part of using stats, like others are doing, in arguments is that you can use it in both ways.
I think crafton is talking rubbish Brighton fans loved potter and his teams weren't terrible in both boxes defensively they were very good set pieces maybe not the greatest but overall definatly they were good defensively and played beautiful stuff Chelsea signed 20 players on him brought him in the middle of a seaosn with no training time an injury list I've never seen the likes of its not fair reflection on him and I think chelsea doesn't hurt any coaches reputation everyone gets sacked from that circus of a football club
GP did not show a single thing at Chelsea that you could argue he has the potential to still be a top manager. The British tag makes these people see other things that are not there

Doesn't that suggest to you that Potter wasn't calling the shots at Chelsea like he was able to at Brighton. Chelsea has always had too much interference from people who know very little about football. It's obvious that he had no hand in building the team, and instead he had a bunch of players foisted on him and no time to turn them into a functional team.
I don’t buy the no striker business. We do Have Auba and Fofana. Regardless of what is thought of them not having one on the bench is scandalous
Simon Johnson. Can we ship a pair of decent headphones and also lease a decent fibre internet for your home?

It’s obvious Potter didn’t buy these players and it was always going to take 18 months for see his style of play. The games I’ve watched Chelsea have controlled games and had good patterns of play then concede to a individual mistake while good players miss easy chances at the other end. To suggest a different manager makes those same players score has got to be the worst take I’ve heard. Saying he is done at a top club after success until this period is so dismissive and I bet the same guy would still back Lampard or Gerrard to make a come back.
Potter will go to a happier place. Chelsea will go on going through managers ad infinitum - sad really 🤔😆

Great video lads you are so insightful 👏
Crafton when Ornstein mentioned Silva 😏
Potter has always been an overrated 'hipsters choice' manager. There's always been an inability to get his team to score goals. It also doesn't help that he immediately chases out the conventional number 9 of every team he's managed, presumably because they're not good enough at passing and pressing. At Swansea he binned off ayew despite him being the best striker in the championship (Cooper brought him back the next season and was vindicated). At Brighton he dumps Murray who couldn't stop scoring, along with the fringe strikers (Locadia, Andrade), who might have at least contributed a few goals. Then he lands at Chelsea and discards aubameyang. Put him in charge at City he'd probably sack Haaland and put Grealish up front. He belongs in the same category as Roberto Martinez. Pretty football but he can't defend, Potter can't attack.
Jurgen klopp is so talented. He can coach Liverpool & still do podcasts
potter’s a very rich man now. just imagine the payout lolol
The points raised here 👌👌👌👌💯
Not hating on Potter. Me kinda excited with the long term project of Chelsea. But watching every Chelsea's match, there's no sign of progress or even "something new". Fucking hell he even revert back to 343/352 Tuchel used to do and still not winning. What's the point then? What the hell they do during training?

I think the fan culture might’ve also played a role here. When the fans are used to sacking managers when the success isn’t there, the ownership could’ve felt the pressure from them. When you’re not used to having a long term project (eg. Arsenal), this is what happens. I feel like this could be a slippery slope for the managers coming to Chelsea like it always has been

You mean ArseNIL? Who wants to finish 7th when we can win? Jokes apart, the problem with Potter is he is no good and showed no indication to prove this statement wrong. ChatGPT would put a better team sheet than him. This is simple example of how shallow he is.
Adam Crofton obviously didn't watch much Brighton. Armchair punditing at its worst. Potter sets up a team to create chances. But at neither Brighton nor Chelsea did they have a proven goalscorer. Of course you will underperform your xg if the people taking the shots are crap and can't hit a barn door. I had a season ticket at Brighton last year and the football was brilliant up until the final moment, but then the ball got to maupay or welbeck and they just do not have a great ability to finish. Not hard to figure this out if you actually watch them and don't just sound off with no knowledge of the subject.

Might be a betting favourite but hard to make a case for him being suited to what the Chelsea board would want
Potter will probably have to do a David Moyes and work overseas for a while. His reputation is in absolute tatters.
It's pathetic that people keep coming back to the "nice guy" comment about Potter. Nice guys finish last. The best managers are arrogant not because they want to be, it's because you need someone needs to be of that personality to win. The best sportsman are nice off the pitch, your worst nightmare on it. No one talks about the Brighton 4-1 Chelsea game. It was naïvety that he would of expected anything less from Brighton fans that game. They booed him every chance they got. The players were up for it to get De Zerbi his first win. Potter started Pulisic and Sterling as wingbacks that day. Cucurella at Centre back in game that he didn't need given all his critics. Then his subs are the worst of all time. If Chelsea are winning Conor Gallagher and Carney come up to fill up the midfield. Neither are great at defending or attacking. If we go behind theres more of a chance that the youngest player on the pitch will get hooked, be it Mudryk, Datro Fofana, Lewis Hall when others are playing way worse. There's was clearly no accountability in the team for performance. Havertz played terrible for months but still got into the team. So did sterling. However, Aubameyang, who according to Potter was training well and did nothing wrong, was left on the sidelines after 2 dismal displays v Brighton and Arsenal. Many forget that he scored the first goal of Potters reign. He single handedly got us into the KO stage of UCL because of his goals v AC Milan. When you are played badly, you can't afford to leave players out especially in position you don't have others. Same can be said about Lewis Hall and Denis Zakaria. Once important members of the squad, after an injury or 2, you hear of them. Are they great. No. But they are better at centre mid than that of Conor, RLC, or even Carney. There's so many players.
Chelsea will definitely go for HANSI FLICK. He has visited Stamford bridge quite often & have good relation with the owners & board. Alternatively, Pochettino or Luis Enrique would be a good fit than Nagelsmann.
Sorry Adam that counter argument about creating/missing chances is bizarre. You can't blame Graham Potter for his players being incompetent infront of goal. Give him Mo Salah and Erling Haaland instead of Neal Maupay and Raheem Sterling (whi by the way are both donkeys for every manager in terms of missing easy chances), they'd score way more goals.
