Inside Out 2 was an absolute masterpiece! When I went to see it opening night, my theater was booked! There were actually more adults there than kids.

Hopefully Hollywood will learn that franchise movies will still make money IF THEY’RE GOOD

I never saw the 1st movie and I only went bc my girlfriend wanted to watch, but I still loved this movie. This movie was so freaking good that I couldn’t stop talking about it the entire weekend

The first one was great too. Definitely recommend it if you loved the sequel. I personally loved the sequel more though

It looks pretty clear that Inside Out 2 will make a billion! If I'm wrong, I'll proudly come back with shame! LOL

So happy for Pixar.

Worldwide after one weekend it is almost $300 Mil. With an audience and critic score over 90%, I think a billion is very likely.

It dropped only 35%, this weekend. China hasn't report numbers yet, and it is $725 million already.

I was more excited than my daughter to watch this film. Glad it came out on Father’s Day weekend 😊😊 It was so good! We loved it. Funnier than the first. But not as sad lol

This movie was the shit for real. Laughed my ass off throughout most of the movie. Never laughed at a movie this hard in god knows when. This movie deserves over a billion dollars.

We took our kids to see it on Friday and it’s a great movie. We have a son who is on the ASD with social anxiety and turning 14, and he loved it. Our daughter is 8, and she loved it too. Stay til end of credit scene.

Sadly for them most people can attest for the crowds. My theaters were the most packed I've seen since Barbie + Oppenheimer, it was wild.

I'm 45 years old.. Movies the make you feeling young and families never get old.. I love inside out 1. 😊

Some will see this result and say “ see just make a good movie”, but I see more. I see a trend for (good) animated films geared towards families doing well. Families most likely with multi income households, and at least 2 kids. Family animation is killing it on the big screen and on streaming, it’s not even close right now. Parents are willing to put out money for a babysitter to have a little peace and quiet (relatively) and the babysitter in question is Movies and Tv either in the theater or on streaming.

Man I’ve been trying to see this movie since Friday and it’s been sold out since then! It’s insane, not even with avengers endgame did I struggle this much to get tickets to a movie!

​@@Coufu I agree and I think it's more difficult to make a sequel for Moana compared to something like Inside Out, where the premise alone is prime for sequels to continue it. I expect it'll be very successful though, just not as good.

Just gotta say, just came back from seeing this with my family, with a nicely packed theatre I might add, and it was a blast.. more of note was the reception to the trailers... A lot of excitement for all the movies shown including 'The wild Robot' (i personally think this looks fantastic and will be a sizeable hit), Despicable Me 4, Moana 2, and Paddington In Peru. You add these movies to the Mufasa movie, and Deadpool & Wolverine, it seems safe to say animation is going to be doing a lot of heavy lifting for theatres this year, and animated adjacent movies helping along. Its rude to speculate, but with Inside Out 2, Deadpool, Mufasa, Moana 2, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and (if its any good) Ellio... Disney might take the crown in 2024.

Pixar lately has been back and forth, on 1 hand they’ve put out some absolutely amazing movies like Soul and Turning Red (Although they should’ve been in theaters) and on the other they’ve put some…ok ones like Lightyear and Luca, but biggest of all they’ve been very back and forth with the theatrical and Disney+ releases, Inside Out 2 felt like it truly marked the return of the great theatrical Pixar experience, it truly was an incredible sequel that was so great to see on the big screen and it looks like the audience recognizes that judging by this box office, and here’s hoping it convinces the people at Disney that they don’t need to dump these movies directly on Disney+ anymore, cause the response to this movie clearly shows we want that theatrical Pixar experience back

My daughter and all her teen friends haven’t seen Inside out 2 yet. I wanted to see it with her but she’s holding out to see with all her buddies lol

I called it on that projections video that this was going to be like Incredibles 2 and exceed $100M. I said if it performed exactly like I2, it'd make $230M, but said it obviously wouldn't but would be $100M+ for sure. $155M out of a possible $230M if released in the pre-pandemic environment seems about right given the current environment.

It was more to set an upper limit of what it could do based on the performance of a similar movie case, not suggest that it would hit the upper limit.

It's quite simple why it makes so much money. It's a movie for the family with a wonderfully emotional story. No political statement in it, just good entertainment...And maybe now Disney is learning that they need to get back to those roots to make money again.

Making sequels of Inside Out is one of the few in the industry to make sense imo, continuing to follow her as she ages and experiences new emotions. I wouldn't mind this ending on a trilogy, perhaps in her HS freshmen year. That's a time a lot of adults remember and young teens could relate to.

So they'll have to cut it at some point, now might be a good idea. Third part is still an option, but stretching it past that would definitely be a mistake

Guys this is all bullshit. This needs to be tracked in total tickets sold. A ticket has doubled since 2020 in my theatre. I’m not hating this movie. My wife and kids loved it and raved about it. Everyone should see this movie I’m just pissed about historical references!

This discussion is decades old. Number of tickets sold has been going down for years. But the BO goes up, so that's where the conversation is. It's a business metric after all.

After watching the previews of this movie, "Inside Out 2" will be one of those movies I will avoid despite the great reviews from critics. Unless someone or a group invites me to see it with them, I will not be watching it, whether at the theater or on a streaming platform.
