Being an elementary art school teacher- I think it’s doing so well because 1)parents are seeking emotional dialogue with their kids more then ever before 2)most kids are now out of school and it’s very hot and the movies are a great option for ac and 2 hours of calm so for me it’s a win win 🏆

I don’t have children and this is the first movie I’ve seen in two years in theaters ! Most people I know loved it don’t have children. I think a reason why it’s doing so good is just also how relatable to so many people. Not just children. Movies that hit a wide range audience do best in theaters I think 😊
I am not the target demographic for Pixar, but I am here for any victory for theaters that we can get in this economy.
Disney-Pixar’s back with a vengeance, whether Disney-haters want to accept it or not. I’m not a Disney-lover, but I’m not a Disney-hater either. I find those people annoying.
I saw it yesterday...it's better than the first one...good for the entire family
PIXAR IS BACK!!!!!!! happy for them
I don’t love every Pixar movies but I remember the first Inside Out as being pretty original and moving. Maybe not for everyone though, especially after the edibles kick in! 😂
I am happy Pixar has a hit, but I stayed home this weekend and streamed Godzilla: Minus One.
I think inside out can work for those that aren't in its immediate target demo. It also does a better job of treating the characters as human and not someone that you need to be told is something they're not. Seems like a return to older movies and shows that pulled at emotions, but not in a ham-fisted way. Kind of like old Simpsons versus new Simpsons.
I’m glad Pixar is back on the screens. I plan on going to see it
I didn't really connect with the first Inside Out, (not my thing) so I wasn't going to see this one anyway, but yeah, we'll take the win, for sure! Maybe the fact that Pixar and Disney made a point that this movie was NOT going to be on streaming anytime soon had something to do with it's huge opening weekend? My point of view has been that the shortened window from theater to streaming that was adopted because of covid, is a huge factor in the box office underperforming. Bring it back to the 90 day window (at least) that existed pre covid, and I think that will positively affect box office in general. We all got trained to stay at home during covid, and the shortened window faciitated that. Now it's time time undo that training. (PS: I wrote this literally 30 seconds before you quoted Pete Docter, who says the same thing!! haha!! Oops!)
And they still have Moana 2 this year.I think it ll do great too
I was waiting for this video!!❤ I had low expectations for this movie, but I really enjoyed it. Loved the approach to anxiety ( I don't like the voice actress, but it's ok) it was a lot, but I enjoyed it. My older teens and my little one enjoyed it our theater wasn't packed but we went early matinee. We didn't watch Elemental, Buzz. We liked Turning Red and Lucca. Soul was meh but that's about it. You should try If, it was a surprise very serious topics, IMO.
Disney is nearly $50B in debt. They will take money from anywhere. Can the mouse stay in business if the debt continues to 100B? We’ll see as the amusement parks have people dressed as characters literally shaking the change out of the pockets of kids and adults.
I’d gotten pretty blah about Pixar but Inside Out 2 is a special case. It’s a true family film as opposed to something that’s just for kids. I really appreciated how Anxiety was depicted, I have had a long and complicated relationship with that orange f***er. It has something to say, instead of being just silly fart jokes. I have no desire to go to Despicable Me 4, I’m allergic to minions.
Pixar has been great at times, but I’m not sure this one result is a sign of an overall tonic for their multifarious woes.
What happened to "Pixar is Dead?"
Happy for theaters and the Pixar creators, but we refused to reward original movies and rewarded a sequel. We deserve to get nothing but sequels.
Would it have killed them to call it _Outside In_ ?
Just saw Inside Out for the first time recently, had a hard time getting into it at first but enjoyed it by the end. I laughed out loud at the Deer Hunter cut James. Any hope in this sea of negativity for Furiosa picking up sales? I saw it the other day, really liked it (not as much as Fury Road). Hope it's not the end for Mad Max films!
💚🇬🇧🌱
Soul and Luca were pretty good and you might like them. Inside Out 2 will def hit 1B and probably get up to 1.2B at this point. It's Summer so the weekdays should also be strong. As for The Acolyte audience score, that is getting reviewed bombed by bots (bots even accidentally targeting an Australian film Acolyte). Context is your friend.

Sorry. Noone likes Acolyte. Regardless of reviews but the critics scores are ridiculously high.
Because every family in America with a kid under ten is going to have to see it. Or else spend the weekend with their bored, out of school whining kids for two days.
Although I didn’t see part 1 (and not really an animation film fan), I’m actually interested in seeing this one. I watched an interview on morning TV with a psychologist (I believe) who consultant on the film- discussing the 4 years that she worked with the production team to get the adolescent emotional/mental beats right. Being a parent to teens now, I’d love to see this with them. 💙
Hey, do a review of aot? You have already name dropped it here.
The 1st Inside Out was just ok. We saw it with my kids in the theater when it came out. I wasn't all that interested in a sequel. But glad it's doing well. My family loved Disney Pixar forever. But my kids have had zero interest since 2019. And none of us liked the 1st Inside Out. I assume there's just so little competition right now? Maybe we'll watch it.
I thought Inside Out 2 was good, but not great. I saw it in 3-D and wished I had seen it in 2-D. 3-D almost always seems like the screen is dimmer and not as sharp.
The movie succeeded becuz 1: families are ready to go back to the theater after being programmed to stay at home for Pixar 2: it was a sequel to a well loved successful movie instead of a new IP like they were doing the last couple years
Soul was wonderful. A live action Soul movie could be fun.
Yeah, I watched about five minutes of Inside Out a few years back and sort of confirmed that Pixar was in serious decline. Was never a big fan, though. It's pretty desperate that they are making another Toy Story.
The movie avoided "the message" and "modern audiences" trap and sold it to FAMILY!
Sorry haters, but “Inside Out 2” is a good movie. In fact, right now, it’s my #3 film of the year. My Top 10 List (subject to change): 👑#1. Dune: Part Two 🥈#2. Hit Man 🥉#3. Inside Out 2 #4. Love Lies Bleeding #5. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga #6. Challengers #7. Late Night with the Devil #8. Abigail #9. Civil War #10. Last Stop in Yuma County
