Inkscape Tutorial: Isometric Shop Icon

In today's tutorial I'll be demonstrating how to create an isometric icon of a store using the axonometric grids in Inkscape.
This tutorial is for Inkscape version 0.92 and is intended to teach beginners how to use the software. Inkscape is a great free alternative to Illustrator and Corel Draw.

Hi Nick, this isometric tutorial has gotten my creative juices flowing. I am going to try to combine my favorite passion of football with my new found love of graphic design with the creation of isometric football stadia series. I am wanting to see if I can re-create all the top grounds from around the world (Old Trafford, Allianz Arena, San Siro, Camp Nou, Bernabeu, Anfield, Maracana, to name a few). I was just wondering how I can affect curved outside walls like with Emirates Stadium using axonometric grids? That is the only thing I am trying to wrap my head around. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to start sometime this weekend. Thanks

Can you make a video on how to draw vector isometric objects as seen looking from a steeper angle than the normal 45 degrees? That is using angle values other than 30 degree in axonometric grid? For example, how a cube would look like if seen at a slight angle from the front. Awesome videos BTW!

Thanks Ahmed. I don't really like Inkscape 0.92 to be honest. It has a lot of the bugs and kinks from 0.91 that I didn't like, plus new ones as well. This one feels like another step backwards for Inkscape. I wouldn't recommend upgrading unless you need a 64 bit option.

Thanks for the tutorial, but I have a little question. There is a problem with Inkscape, that seems to be quite common amongst the users, where white gaps appear between objects that are tightly snapped one to another. You, however, don't seem to have it (or didn't show getting rid of it). So, the question is, HOW did you get rid of it? Would really appreciate if you could help with that, thou sure no pressure at all) Thanks once more!

Probably old news but I think this could have been more intuitive by building from the bottom up with newer layers on top instead of shaping cutouts before knowing the shape of walls / roof that would be cutting things out and casting shadows. Aside from that, 10/10 inkscape tutorials!

It's a late reply, but in case someone in the future has the same issue, it's because you set previous shape with opacity lower than 100% OR Alpha channel from the color lower than max. You can fix it by clicking the shape, then access menu Object > Fill and Stroke. There will be Opacity option in the bottom part of it, or check the Alpha from the color.
