Inkscape Tutorial: Vector Power Button
Design a vector power button icon on brushed steel with an illuminated variation.

This tutorial is for Inkscape version 0.92 and is intended to teach beginners how to use the software. Inkscape is a great free alternative to Illustrator and Corel Draw.

Wow!!! This couldn't go more perfect!! 👌👌👌
With every step the button looked more and more 3d. It's like magic. Ah, I love working with vectors.

Just awesome tutorial. I'm developing a video game and this will really gonna help me in designing UI. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your tutorials. They are very well done. They make following along step by step very easy. Great Job!
This was really amazing to watch. I'm just getting started with Inkscape. It's such a powerful tool. Love it. Well done!

Oh yes! This is neat idea thank you!
Great job. your tutorials are great.
Very Nice Tutorial Using this Program.
Really good video. I have definitely learned a bunch from you.
Nice, thanks Nick.
very helpful, Thx Nick!
I'm amazed at how these simple steps are sufficient to make that button look photoreal, like something you'd see on a coffee machine. It turns out the biggest trick is using a photorealistic background and that somehow makes the less realistic button look photoreal. When I watched this video, I didn't actually want to make that button but I got too curious on how complicated it'd be.
realistique button very nice
Amazing! Thank you
Huge thanks! Keep it up.
I made a Power button myself, but that wasn't as good as this one. I'll make this one. Awesome tutorial Nick.
This is awesome.
You're a wizard!

Hey nick I love your vids and they help me a lot though I'm wondering if there's a way you can make an effect that looks like static tv screen/ Screen glitching? If you can that would be great! Thanks
First off I have to say "You're The Man" your videos are great and I'm sure going to learn a lot from them. With that being said I do have one question about a part in the video, instead of making the power icon could I just us a solid color png logo in its place??
This button looks so cool!! One question though: How would you make it look like it's in pushed down state?
Can you make a tutorial how to make a 3-fold brochure in Inkscape, or a flyer?

That's a good idea, I may do that next
Please do a video on how to make a logo using GIMP. BTW love your vids...
I really like all your videos, especially about Inkscape. One thing is causing me to make an extra effort to see your black screen. The icons are very tiny and in sometimes I must guess what button you pressed or selected. I think that you configured Inkscape that way to have a bigger working area. And that's ok for you, but I don't have such a big monitor but a 19" one. Yes, perhaps I must change my glasses.
how do you select different duplications without selecting the upper ones
How about the brushed metal background, can it be archived with Inkscape?
Unable to rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise after applying linear gradient. Running Win10 Pro and Inkscape 0.92. Please advise.
How do i post my drawing when im done.
is there a way to make this into rectangle?
muito bom, se você fizesse no blender seria muito mais rápido.
I made it in Illustrator once
Сколько усилий для того чтобы создать, на первый взгляд, простую кнопку =)
How do you get the other tools like the gradient tool?

If you're using a laptop, tablet or monitor with a small resolution those tools may not be visible. In that case there will be a small arrow at the bottom of the toolbar. If you click on that, a fly out menu will bring up those missing tools.

Jeremah, thank you very much Jeremah, have a nice day!
I tried rotating the ellipse that I made in Inkscape but it wont rotate (clockwise and counter clockwise) I can rotate it however by clicking it twice with the move tool and holding ctrl and moving it 90 degrees Do you know why that's happening tho?

How do I only save that button as SVG
@LogosByNick
2 жыл бұрын
Select the button and copy and paste it into a new document. Then resize the document around the button by selecting it and pressing control + shift + r on your keyboard. Then you can save it as a svg file.
Noice.

Your tutorials are really helpful! Thank you! Just did the design and put it inside a Qt5 application and then installed on a Raspbery Pi. Take a look at the video bellow showing the button in action with a touchscreen: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i3l41siRaLKZdco.html
